Talented? Check.

Frustratingly inconsistent? Check.

Mentally fragile? Check.

He will fit in beautifully to our Sheffield Shield team next season. :thumbsu:

If he plays the whole shield season WA will give it a shake.

So the Barmy army essential bully a bloke and he is a sook. I am sure Mitch isn't the first guy to not handle being taunted by the crowd.
No he isn't. Then again, most people who can't handle being sledged are pretty average sports people who never achieve ulitmate success.

Sums Mitch up to a tee.

The campaign for haddin started with the skipper in the press conference the day wade hit his ton, basically summed up the arse backwards way cricket is run now in this country, a 24 year old makes a ton in difficult batting conditions and the skipper is more worried about reassuring his over the hill mate who played poor and irresponsible cricket for well over a year.

As a follow up more campaigning for haddin from clarke today.

Clarke make a big push today about the importance of building "team culture" and surprise surprise he then talks about how great it would be to get haddin back in the fold cause he's such a great team man don't you know.

Well done to him on reaching 200 Test wickets. An achievement, regardless of what people may think of him. He joins the following players to have achieved the feat for Australia:
Warne
McGrath
Lillee
Lee
McDermott
Gillespie
Benaud
McKenzie
Lindwall
Grimmett
Hughes
MacGill
Thomson
And he is the first left arm bowler of any variety to achieve the feat for Australia (only four left armers have ever taken 100 test wickets for Australia).

The real problem I have with Johnson is that he doesn't just leak runs, they flow like a river from him. If he could contain batsmen a bit better then he might find he is a more than a fringe player.

He might have picked up a few wickets yesterday, but he leaked like a rusty sieve.

I'm generally critical of Mitch's profligacy, however I believe that his role as our 3rd quick is more suited to the current bowling regime than as the top banana. He's always been a wicket taker and used in short bursts can be effective.

Just don't wanna see him and Starc in the same team

Johnson is our 6th best quick.

Pattinson Siddle Cummins Starc Bird Johnson Hilfenhaus

In 5 a test series (ie the ashes) if we take the first 5 of them. There are 15 spots for quicks, assuming we play a spinner every test.

Thats 4 tests for 3 of them and 3 for the other. Which i think would be about right considering the new rotation policy.

As we will always have a few injuries he is likely to be around the mark, but i dont want to see him in that top 3 selected. Would rather him just come in for a replacement here and there, pick up some wickets, but leak runs.

Hilfenhaus is the one that concerns me. He doesnt swing it anymore and has lost a yard of pace. Hes dropped behind Mitch for mine.

Generally agree with the majority of your post except for the bold.

1) pat cummins is ridiculously over-rated. Krazy krezja got 12 wickets or something in his 1st test. I would like to see some sustained form before I slot him into the best 3 steamers in the nation

2) hilfenhaus will be crucial to our chances in England, duke ball, higher seam, more humid overcast conditions. Must take with the squad

200 wickets? The first for a left-arm Australian. I could bag him, point out his many weaknesses. But I'll let it slide and say "Well done, good career Mitch" instead.
That was really the point of my post. To say well done.

Who can name the other three left armers to have taken 100 test wickets for Australia? Without looking it up? :)

Bruce Reid is the obvious one. Alan Davidson is one I would have thought. Can't for the life of me remember the third bloke.
