Personally I love Jerry Krause. Anybody who can keep the Bulls in the Central Division sewer and dissappoint all those Bulls fans is fine with me.:D

I find such a system of ranking a little unrealistic, simply due to the fact its completely biased towards guards, with Chamberlain the obvious exception. Basically, this tells me that points and assists are the only worthwhile components of offense, not picks, dummy cuts etc. etc. I'm not saying these are the only factors of an offensive player, but surely they deserve some weight. Offense is not simply scoring and passing, but moving without the ball and shiznit.

The Basketball gods think Points and Assists are the only worthwhile components of offense, as they are the only ones recorded. I agree with you about picks, cuts and the like but no one records those statistics which make it very difficult to value their worth. I still think this is better than just looking at someone scoring average.

Only 6 were guards. Barry and Bird were small forwards and Baylor played as both a Power and Small Forward.

Krause wanted to trade Pippen to Boston prior to the 1997 draft for picks 3 and 6. And he wouldve drafted Tracy McGrady and Ron Mercer. But Jordan stepped in with his whinging and saying he would retire if Pippen was traded. So the trade was called off.

This is why people hate Krause. Trade Pippen!!! Right in the middle of what would be another 3-peat?? What is wrong with him. Im a huge Bulls fan and I would have being disgusted with Jerry Krause if he traded Pippen.

Jordan did the right thing and kept the team together and led them to the promised land again.

Krause doesnt know the meaning of loyalty.

A couple of season ago an NBA journalist wrote an article stating that to find the true offense supremo, you needed to add a person points per game, with his assists per game. Multiply his assists by two to get the true points value to each team. There is a great deal of merit to this, as offense is more than just scoring, it's also a person's ability to create easy points for your team mates. Anyway using his theory, the top ten offensive players (at the end last season) are:

10. Rick Barry 23.2ppg/5.1apg - 33.4
9. John Stockton 13.2ppg/10.7apg - 34.6
8. Elgin Baylor 27.4ppg/4.3apg - 36.0
7. Larry Bird 24.3ppg/6.3apg - 36.9
6. Isiah Thomas 19.2ppg/9.3apg - 37.8
5. Wilt Chamberlain 30.1ppg/4.4apg - 38.9
4. Jerry West 27ppg/6.7apg - 40.4
3. Micheal Jordan - 31ppg/5.4apg - 41.8
2. Magic Johnson - 19.5ppg/11.2apg - 41.9
1. Oscar Robertson - 25.7ppg/8.9apg - 43.5

It's a shame I can't find the article, because it was very interesting.

Intersting but it has no merit at all.

Anyone on the team apart from Jordan shouldve been tradeable. When you can make your team better, trade Pippen. Krause was the first person to discover McGrady, and he knew he was going to be something special. Pippen was also in decline.

Breaking up the dynasty was a good move... which player from that team has gone on to play the way they did in Chicago?? none of them have.

Loyalty.. it doesnt exist in NBA Basketball, but Krause is one of the most loyal ones out there, and always offers management positions to ex bulls, and when the team is in need of a veteran, also looks for the ex bulls (Scott Williams, Corie Blount this season)

It's called looking toward the future.

The Bulls have sucked for how long now? Simply because MJ refused to give up short term success (a trait he has shown in Washington as well) for the well being of the franchise.

Getting picks 3 and 6 in a very strong draft for Scottie Pippen was a brilliant deal, a deal that would have ensured the Bulls were championship contenders for the long term.

* Cue Jod's tiresome "you hate Jordan" line

So let me get this straight. Your saying that Scottie Pippen, one of the 50 greatest players of all time, right in the middle of his peak (he was not declining in the second 3-peat) the second greatest Bull of all time, a huge fan favourite, the 2 in the best 1-2 punch basketball has ever seen.......was tradeable.

Your as nuts as Krause.

finally i agree with u carmello! haha deifnitely everyone besides jordan is expendale from that team and if it makes ur team better then go for it of course

Jordan had a say in what happened in Chicago. It was Jordans team.

And unless the Bulls get extremely lucky.. they wont be getting a top 3 pick.. and it wont be top 5 because they have too many wins

thats why he is a bad GM, because jordan shouldnt of had a say in wot he does with players, trades, etc

Crap!

That deal may have been good if you werent the reigning champs. If the Bulls were losing in the playoffs every year then yes pull the trigger...but trading your second best player (an all time great) for two rookies??? How is that going to help your championship drive?

At the start of 97 everyone knew Jordan only had 2 or 3 years at best. Tracy McGrady just like every other guy out of high school will have struggled in his first 2 or so season which would only have frustrated Jordan.

Jordan without Pippen would have been hard pressed to win another 2 championships.

So what your really saying is that you trade Pippen and pretty much lose 2 championships for young rookies who turn out to be great players like T-Mac. But just as T-Mac is starting to dominate Jordan retires.

T-Mac replaces Jordan and you have once again a one man team, winning no championships. Krause did the right thing...well Jordan made him do the right thing. Keep the team together, win as many championships as possible and leave a dynasty, a legacy! Then go about rebuilding the team. Which he has done.

You are all giving Krause a pasting, but at least he had the decency to provide Jordan and Pippen with a supporting cast that would bring a championship or 6 to Chicago. I feel for Ewing, the New York owner (whoever he is) provided Ewing with jack crap for the 15 years he played at Madison.

No, Jod is giving Krause crap because he thinks he knows everything after reading one or two of those pathetic Michael Jordan books.
Time will tell, but I`m with jod on this one. The Lakers dragged all they could out of the Magic/Kareem era and rightly so. The difference is the Lakers were shrewd enough rebuild quickly. The jury is still out with Krause...but I don`t rate him.

What was deal with trading Brand again? Any issues behind his leaving?

Yeah because unlike you who are obviously really good friends with Krause....I need to actually read about him to get an idea of what he is about...

Your damn right your with me on this one :D

Krause or should I say Jordan liked everything he could from that Dynasty. The only problem is that Krause isnt a good enough GM to rebuild quickly.

I agree with Jod too a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush.

Nor does Krause have a city with the natural attraction of say LA to attract a rapping, movie starring dominant centre.

Did Jordans book tell you that too?

You seem to want to know everything about me and where I got my information on Krause. How about you tell me where you got your information to suggest that Krause is actually a stand up guy???
