Just finished watching rnd 2 Press Conference, and MM says he isn't sure wether Rusling will go back up forward rather he will be a CHB but more likely our FB!

WTF as if you would waste him down there and furthermore all reports suggest he was woeful in the preseason back there.

Rusling will be a great FF injury permitting especially with a coach who knows how to play a fast attacking direct style of game ie not Mediocre Mick.

Mick never gives a straight answer .
I would just be happy to see Rusling play one game and no get injured !
Calling MM mediocre is a bit harsh as that would make him MMM

Look, if Mick plays Rus at HB I think that's great news. That's not to say Rus will necessarily suceed there, but I'm glad Mick is mixing it up and trying to develop the players, because let's face it, if Rus doesn't get a chance there, he may find himself out of the side if JA keeps kicking truly.

The worst thing that could happen while Rus is waiting in the wings is that he becomes more well rounded. I don't think Mick is suggesting he will push Brown aside without proving himself - he is giving him a go at VFL level presumably and if he does well there can step up to relieve a Presti or Brown - nothing wrong with that.

My criticism of Mick has been his creativity and risk taking and I thikn this is a nice mix of creative thinking and safe betting.

Woah, Woah. Take it quarter by quarter!

My bad , got carried away a bit !

All jokes aside , i doubt Rusling can make it as a defender , he is not hard at it player ,imo. But on the other hand Ben Reid can , tough snd fast enough and you dont need great kicking skills in the backline , gee that sounded like i was talking about Presti :)

He doesn't have to be a hard player to be a good defender, what he needs to do is improve his agility. It's one of his weaknesses.

Let's agree to disagree .

Rusling is a better prospect at FF than JA, JA is good in the 3rd forward role played well of HFF.

Playing him as a KB isn't to guide him to become a better forward, MM was saying it in the way of he wants to change his position.

A huge waste of talent if he doesn't return to VFL at FF, the Ruz would displace a JA is by kicking bags in the VFL bit hard to do as a FB.

If you go back and watch the 2007 finals series, we had both Rocca and Rusling in our forward line, and we played more direct, corridor orientated football.

If we can get Rusling back to the seniors, MM wont muck around with him in the backline, especially this year with Presti still around.

MM will want either Rocca or Rusling to be our focal point (preferably both), as they will straighten up our gamestyle, and therefore make us more efficient against the zone.

What MM is probably talking about is that he likes his forwards to get a taste of life as backmen, so not only can they become more versatile, but so they can also get an idea as to how a backmen thinks and the way a backman moves, which will utlimately help their forward play.

I just want to see Rusling back, he is such an exciting prospect, and we need him.

Rusling 190cm (Nathan Brown at 195 is equipped to take the monster forwards)
Scarlett 192 cm
Rutten 192 cm
Hurley 193 cm
Furrito 190 cm
Pettigrew 193 cm

I dont think lack of height will hold him back.

huh? all the guys listed are taller, bar Furrito, who's more of a utility...

2-3 cms mightn't seem like much, but for KP players, it is. And I have to say, your list is a bit strange (Hurley? Pettigrew?)

Craig Bolton, Leo Barry, Campbell Brown and Trent Croad are all 190 cm and below.

Bolton is just very, very crafty, and Barry/Brown/Croad all have a freak combination of strength/athleticism.

They're exceptions, not the norm.

Adam Hunter, Josh Gibson and Nathan Bassett (pre retirement) should also be included in that list.

Rusling doesnt lack for strength and athletically he has few peers. Definitely worth considering in defence. No harm in trying and even if it doesnt work out he'll learn a lot.

I love Rusling and i really think he has huge potential, but he is extremely one dimensional. I don't think he has the ability to stop, start, dodge, turn, spoil and get his knees dirty on the floor.

He's an awesome lead
Great mark and so far a pretty good set shot.

Born FF IMO
