Round 1
  • With 1 round already past, let's have a look at how the 35th season started.

    1675425053347.png
A high-scoring affair where both teams hit the 3-digit mark by 3 Quarter-Time, it was the Baghdad Bombers that got their season to a winning start with a 3-goal win over the Furies. This was helped by the performance of Osc1 who got 29 disposals, 10 tackles, 6 Frees and 4 goals in what was the Performance of the Round. Those 4 goals would be the main reason Osc1 gets the 3 votes as the Furies best player, Fridge, recorded 11 tackles and 7 Frees of his own but with no goals scored in a losing side where the weather was warm. kickthething picks up the 1 vote with 28 disposals, 4 Frees, 4 goals but just the 2 tackles.

    1675425126854.png
Usually when you have a player score 9.5 in a game, you'd ask how much did that team win by. Unfortunately for the Swamprats, their game result was a 14-point loss to the Dragons on a day where the team-based strategy won out. So while okeydoke7 might get to be called the best player for the game, the loss will still hurt. Teammate philreich also ranks high with 32 disposals, 9 tackles and 6 Frees which will make the Sin City faithful wonder where it all went wrong. The Dragons do have someone among the votes though in BringBackTheAnchor who got 18 disposals, 8 tackles, 2 Frees and a goal.

    1675425169020.png
When a team has to double its score in the last quarter just to have a chance of winning the game, you know it hasn't been a good game. Then when that team almost manages to do it, you wonder what the winning team was doing for the 25 minutes of the game. Luckily for the Royals, conceding 7 goals to 1 in the 4th quarter still saw them 16-point winners and taking all 3 spots on the Predictor. Cadsky (18 disposals, 8 tackles, 5 Frees and 2 goals) just gets over CakeEater (14 disposals, 9 tackles, 5 Frees, 0 goals) for the 3 votes with nahnah's 5-goal day helping him to the 1 vote over East Side's raskolnikov.

    1675425210996.png
The Roys make jokes about always disappearing for a quarter, but in this game it happened in 2 with what must have been a windy game. The Roys scored 6 goals at one end but only 2 at the other in a game that saw them lose to the Bears by 33 points. Electronic_Renaissance was Best-on-Ground with 23 disposals, 12 tackles, 4 Frees and 2 goals with teammate and ruckman Cap getting the 1 vote with his 14 hitouts, 23 disposals, 5 tackles and 2 Frees. Though props to Zevon who, despite the overall result, racked up 21 disposals, 5 tackles and 5 Frees to spilt the 2 Bears and get 2 votes in one of those little victories.

    1675425246854.png
In another game that saw one end of the ground see more action, the Gumbies took advantage of the wind in a see-sawing game against Ophidian to be 18-point winners. The Old Boys will be wondering how they let the Gumbies get so far ahead, starting with who was on ruckman Falconista who, despite losing the ruck battle, got 22 disposals, 6 tackles and 3 goals. You're supposed to stay on your man outside the ruck battles, BTW. It wasn't all doom for the Old Boys with both Mrs Turbo (13 disposals, 7 tackles, 1 Free, 1 goal) and kananooks (15 disposals, 5 tackles, 6 Frees) doing their part in keeping Ophidian in the game for so long.

    1675425290369.png

Another chapter in the Wonders-Demons rivalry completed and it was West Coast that came out the 25-point victors in what was a very dominant day for them. Aside from a close 1st-quarter, it was Wonders the rest of the way despite a 7-goal last quarter from Mount Buller. At the forefront of the West Coast attack was the likes of Frothies Mcveigh, who scored 5 goals 2 alongside his 7 kicks and 2 tackles, and Cubs2Lions, who got 27 disposals, 5 tackles, 5 Frees and 1 goal 2. Wojcinski gets the last vote of the round over Mount Buller's DERO with 15 disposals, 2 tackles, 3 Frees and a score of 2 goals 1.

    Round 2
  • Round 2 and now every team has played at least once, but which players have gone back-to-back in votes or is it a 12-way tie for first?

    1675901551555.png
Ever watch a qooty game where both teams sacrifice their individual game to play the team game? Because that's what happened during this match because while it was raining goals alongside the water, the calculations for the Mobbs Votes predictors were the lowest scores of the round. Fridge did enough though to get the 3 votes with 12 disposals, 6 tackles, 3 Frees and a goal, which helped the Furies stay in the contest for most of the game with the help of JyeDye's 14 disposals, 2 tackles, 1 Free and 2 goals. However, it was The Filth Wizard's 5 goals (from 5 kicks and 1 Free) that saw the Warriors start their season with a win.

    1675903814014.png
This was another close game affected by the rain until the Roys came back from being goalless at the first break to kick 8 goals to 1 in the final quarter. The Roys dominant quarter was spearheaded by Zevon , who recorded 21 disposals, 7 tackles, 1 Free and 3 goals, and tigs2010, who got 19 disposals, 5 tackles, 2 Frees and 2 goals. I did say though that the game had been close for 3 quarters before the runaway result happened and newly crowned SFA Immortal Tarkyn_24 gave the Demons the hope of a first win with 13 disposals, 9 tackles, 1 Free and a goal nearly swinging the game Mount Buller's way.

    1675905122254.png
The Gumbies kept the Dragons out of arms reach of victory in this fine-weather game, it was as straightforward as a qooty game could be with the Gumbies winning every individual quarter as well. While the Dragons did have good quarters, making it a close contest some of the time, they were always bested by the opposition. Well, unless you were Pie 4 Life who gets the 3 votes despite the overall result with 25 disposals, 7 tackles, 5 Frees and a goal. For the winning side, DenieD (20 disposals, 8 tackles, 4 Frees, 1 goal) and Brick Loosener (24 disposals, 4 marks, 5 tackles, 3 goals) were the ones that gave the Gumbies a smooth ride to victory.

    1675909597148.png
I think I would be remiss if I didn't call this the Game of the Week. The Bombers were almost always in front for the entire game but boy did the Bears keep them on their toes until the last siren. Electronic_Renaissance was a big contributor of that with 25 disposals, 12 tackles and 8 Frees. Too bad he wasn't able to get on the end of a goal for Las Vegas in such a tight game but it still earns him the Performance of the Week. For Baghdad, the likes of Dazjack (19 disposals, 9 tackles, 5 Frees, 2 goals) and Pugsley (20 disposals, 11 tackles, 1 Frees) ensured that it would be a win for the reigning premiers.

    1675911690394.png
Just a reminder, the Wonders were up 53 to 19 early in the second quarter before the Old Boys went 87 to 35 for the rest of the game. While it is good to start a game on such a strong note, 1 quarter doesn't make a game and Ophidian certainly made the most of the other 3. Mrs Turbo was on the front foot of the Ophidian comeback with 14 disposals, 8 tackles, 4 Frees and 2 goals with Hoos in back-up getting 18 disposals, 6 tackles, 2 Frees and a goal. Cubs2Lions (21 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 Frees) was deemed the best of the Wonders on a day where it seems many of his teammates went home early.

    1675912958175.png
Insert "How does it rain underground" joke here, and the Swamprats couldn't even make the most of the conditions. Gold City dominated the game from siren to siren, never letting up on the accelerator towards what ended up being the biggest win of the round. Cadsky joins ER in having back-to-back 3 vote games with 22 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 Frees and a goal, getting votes along with CakeEater who got 14 disposals, 6 tackles, 2 Frees and a goal. Sin City did get 1 highlight though, in the form of edgie who took 19 disposals, 7 tackles and 3 Frees in what was a game to forget for the Swamprats.

    Round 3
  • Round 3 and every team has now gotten on the board, but which player has managed to score in every round so far?

    1676460670220.png
The Demons were so close to getting their first win of the season, if only the Old Boys hadn't kicked 8 goals to 2 in the last quarter, but you would've thought that if you looked at these votes. Despite going down by 4 goals, Tarkyn_24 's 34 disposals, 11 tackles, 1 Free, 2 goals were also calculated to be the Performance of the Round, with cartwright's 25 disposals, 10 tackles, 1 Free, 1 goal showing that they have the stats to show that the contest was actually close for 3 quarters. Suspended player kananooks was considered the best of Ophidian with 20 disposals, 8 tackles and 8 Frees, though the Old Boys will have to now look elsewhere for votes.

    1676460729425.png
On the other hand, the Dragons didn't have anyone make the votes this round, with the Bears having full control of the game from start to finish. With almost double the score, Las Vegas were right as rain in the rain as Cap amassed 23 disposals, 5 tackles, 1 Free and 2 goals to get the 3 votes (despite losing the ruck battle) with Bench player Rookiepick (7 kicks, 1 tackle, scoring 5 goals 2) beating Electronic_Renaissance 's (17 disposals, 5 tackles, 2 Frees, 2 goals) in the rankings, but that doesn't stop E_R to be the only player to get votes in the first 3 rounds. For those of you wondering, the best Dragon was HawkAussie.

    1676460765783.png
I'm calling this the Game of the Round, I had no idea who was going to win this until the Roys finally managed to keep the Gumbies at bay long enough for the siren to go. This was such a crazy game, so of course the votes were going to be rather even. There can only be one 3-vote getter though and tigs2010 with 9 disposals, 7 tackles and 7 Frees was deemed better than GWS Goose's 15 disposals, 5 tackles, 2 Frees, 2 goals. You could probably say that Mooch's 5 goals 3 from his 8 kicks (plus 1 mark and 1 Free) should be higher in such a close contest but I can't argue with the calculations. Actually I do but that's besides the point.

    1676460804723.png
Now for the boring game. With East Side kicking 6 goals to 1 in the first quarter and then just keeping the margin to that for the rest of the game, the Coney Island faithful had to hope for a miracle or wait for the inevitable to happen. The best player for the game was Itsmyshow who kicked 6 goals 2, exactly the final margin, from 8 kicks, 1 Free and 2 marks. The Warriors did get 1 person in the votes in Dinsdale who got 23 disposals, 3 tackles, 2 Frees and a goal in one of the few highlights for Coney Island. Rounding out the votes is sey666 who helped out Itsmyshow with 4 goals 1 with his 5 kicks, 1 mark and 1 tackle.

    1676460847639.png
The Royals were kicking quite accurately until that final quarter. Despite the fact that the score-line still looks great at the final siren, they'll be ruing those missed opportunities to get the win over the Furies. GreyCrow was one of the ones keeping Gold City in the battle with 24 disposals, 4 tackles, 2 Frees and 4 goals despite losing the ruck battle, plus there was Kapow!!! who had 29 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles, 5 Frees and 1 goal. The Furies did have someone in the votes considering that they did have the win, with JyeDye's 18 disposals, 6 tackles, 2 Frees and 2 goals helping Fighting get their first win on the board.

    1676460894756.png
The Bombers are now the last undefeated team for the Season 35, the Swamprats are one of 2 teams yet to have their first win. Sin City was also one kick away from both those statements not happening. Despite Baghdad getting to a 6-goal lead at the first break, the Swamprats made it a 3-point game at half-time with the game staying close until the end. Dominic03 and his 20 disposals, 8 tackles and 5 Frees were the bulk of the Swamprats comeback but the Bombers duo of kickthething (19 hitouts, 28 disposals, 6 tackles, 4 Frees, 1 goal) and Pugsley (20 disposals, 6 tackles, 3 Frees, 2 goals) made sure that the reigning premiers started the new season in the best way possible.

    Round 4
  • Okay, everyone has now played enough games and had enough opportunities to get in front so let's have a look at the votes.

    1677108037531.png
Second week in a row of the Bombers continuing their unbeaten run over a winless team, second week in a row of the Demons getting so close of their first win. I don't know how Mount Buller have the lowest percentage with these close games, that Round 1 loss must still be killing them on the ladder. Back to talking about this game, Pugsley was deemed the best player (23 disposals, 10 tackles, 4 Frees) with teammate and ruckman kickthething also getting amongst votes (13 hitouts, 28 disposals, 4 tackles, 1 Free, 1 goal 2). Despite their position on the ladder, Tarkyn_24 continues rack up the votes for the Demons with 14 disposals, 8 tackles, 3 Frees and scoring 1 goal 1.

    1677108107440.png
In what was a game of two halves, the Dragons almost choked away the win against the Wonders despite being over 3 goals ahead either side of the half-time break. A great defensive play and a late goal put the result beyond doubt for the Dragons, with the votes reflecting the team game they played. West Coast takes the 3 and 2 votes with Grand Uncle Horace (18 disposals, 10 tackles, 1 goal 1) and Brenton Davy (28 disposals, 3 tackles, 3 Frees, 2 goals 3) helping the Wonders drag their way back into the contest. Pie 4 Life does however get the Dragons some votes with 25 disposals, 6 tackles and 1 Free.

    1677108154866.png
After what was promising to be a close contest at Quarter-Time, the Royals slowly put more and more distance between them and the Gumbies for the rest of the game to ensure an easy victory. Gold City can thank their midfield for their coasting win, with the Royals taking all the votes in the predictor. Cadsky even took out the Performance of the Week with 25 disposals, 8 tackles, 3 Frees and scoring 3 goals 1. CakeEater (33 disposals, 6 tackles, 3 Frees, 2 goals 1) and ruckman GreyCrow (15 hitouts, 28 disposals, 4 tackles, 1 Frees, 1 goal 1) kept the Gumbies best player, Falconista, from ruining the Royal party.

    1677108310433.png
What happens when one team's Full-Forward gets kept out of the entire game? Well clearly the other team just runs over the top of them, which is what the Roys did with the Old Boys for the first 3 quarters before letting off the accelerator but Ophidian was having no end of trouble finding a new avenue for goals. Luckily Braklet stepped up in the Pocket kicking 4 goals 3 along with 14 disposals, 2 marks, 1 tackle and 3 Frees. Mooch's 6 goals 3 from 9 kicks (and 1 tackle) ended up being the difference between winning and losing for the Roys with Callums_Guns rounding out the votes with 23 disposals, 6 marks, 1 tackle, 1 Free and scoring 3 goals 1.

    1677108370598.png
The Warriors were once again out of the contest by the first break and, like the Old Boys, only had 1 good quarter that made the end margin look closer than what the game actually was. It didn't stop the Bears from now having the biggest percentage in the comp, just waiting for the Bombers to slip up. Ruckman Cap got another Best-on-Ground with 14 hitouts, 29 disposals, 4 tackles, 1 Frees and scoring 3 goals 2. No E_R for the first time this season so Broken is the Bears second vote-getter with 3 goals 6 from 9 kicks, 3 tackles and 1 Free. Once again, Dinsdale is the sole Warrior getting 23 disposals, 4 tackles, 1 Free and 2 goals.

    1677108423595.png
A low-scoring affair in the mud, the Swamprats didn't even get on the board until after the first break. Doubling their score in the last quarter to give East Side a scare, Sin City is the 3rd team this week that only showed up after the last break to bring the margin back to "respectful". The team that did try for 3 quarters, the Phoenix, were heralded by MP_ who had 18 disposals, 5 tackles, 1 Free and 1 goal 1. The Swamprats did have 2 players make the votes unlike the previous 2 teams with ruckman GremioPower (9 hitouts, 12 disposals, 1 tackles, 1 Free, 3 goals) and Grav (18 disposals, 5 tackles, 2 Frees) giving Sin City something to smile about.

    Round 5
  • Quarter way through Season 35, has anyone made it to double digits yet?

    1677722393521.png
Not even accurate kicking in front of goal could keep the Wonders in the fight in this game as the Fighting Furies had quite the easy win after half-time. Despite the quarters won being split, the Furies obviously took advantage of the wind with a 50-point win with JyeDye getting Man of the Match honours with 22 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 Frees and scoring 2 goals 2. Backed up with their straight shooter for the season, ShaunDuggan scored 5 goals 2 from 7 kicks, 3 marks and 1 tackle to keep West Coast out of the equation. The Wonders did have Cubs2Lions curbing the flow somewhat with 20 disposals, 7 tackles, 4 Frees and 1 goal.

    1677722426144.png

The Ophidian Old Boys destroyed the Phoenix in this game, just an absolute demolition from start to finish. Even with East Side winning the last quarter, they still had to fight for it despite scoring double their total during that quarter. However, the Phoenix have managed to get 2 players in the votes despite losing by 58 points. MP_ even got the 3 votes with 22 disposals, 8 tackles, 8 Frees and 1 goal with Itsmyshow scoring almost half the Phoenix score with 5 goals 3 from 8 kicks, 1 tackle and 1 Free. The Old Boys do get a mention in here through Ned_Flanders who recorded 19 disposals, 6 marks, 2 tackles and 5 goals.

    1677722514143.png
After having a good start to the game, the Roys almost took the win away from the Warriors. They even hit the lead at one point in the 3rd quarter. The game of qooty is played in 4 quarters, as the Roys keep saying, and 1 Warrior only needed the last quarter and a positional change with Purple7x08_24 scoring 5 goals 3 after the last change, singlehandedly getting Coney Island the win and finishing on 19 disposals, 2 marks, 2 tackles, 3 Frees and 9 goals 3. Snuffaluphagus got himself 13 disposals, 7 tackles, 2 Frees and 1 goal to get amongst it as well with tigs2010 having 12 disposals, 6 tackles, 4 Frees and 2 goals to give the Roys some solace.

    1677722557474.png
Despite winning 3 of the 4 quarters in the match, the Gumbies had to make a comeback in the 4th in order to get the 4 premiership points as well. The scores were even tied for half of the last quarter and with 5 minutes to go in the game so Las Vegas willing be wondering how the defense fell apart so late in the game. The 3 votes was more clear cut and it was even the Performance of the Round, DenieD recorded a whopping 13 tackles in the game along with 24 disposals, 4 Frees and scoring 3 goals 1. For their troubles, the Bears came away with the rest of the votes with 4cunningTonneTruck (17 disposals, 1 mark, 9 tackles, 2 Frees, 1 goal 1) and ruckman kane249 (11 hitouts, 19 disposals, 5 tackles, 1 Frees, 2 goals) the reason why the game was close for so long.

    1677722584605.png
Talking about comebacks, the Royals were on their way to a cruising victory over the Dragons with a 5 goal lead at the last break. The Dragons, however, decided to they'd break what has to be a record and scored 6 goals 6 to Gold City's 1 to come away with a 5-point victory. DragoDelph was deemed the spearhead of this with 20 disposals, 8 tackles, 4 Frees and 2 goals with ruckman strigoi's 18 hitouts, 15 disposals, 4 tackles and 4 Frees also very helpful in the successful comeback. The Royals were left with one thing to smile about as Smartys Power collected 6 goals 1 from 7 kicks in the part of the game before the Dragons decided to show up.

    1677722618062.png
Now the Match of the Round before we knew what the results were, who was gonna be the team to go 0-5. Well, despite keeping the Swamprats to no goals in the first quarter and having a 44-point margin at one stage, the Demons couldn't keep up with Sin City in the end and took the title of "absolute last". Mount Buller also had a point-less 3rd quarter which got the Swamprats back in the game, a lot of missed oppotunities for the Demons as of late. ant555 was best on the field with 27 disposals, 6 tackles, 3 Frees and 3 goals plus ruckman GremioPower getting 2nd place with 19 hitouts, 39 disposals, 5 tackles, 5 Frees and 1 goal 2. Mount Buller still had 1 player make the votes with rookie cartwright getting in with 26 disposals, 9 tackles, 3 Frees and 1 goal.

    Round 6
  • With a third of the season done, who came out with the best games of Week 6? Well, firstly...

    1678352547669.png
The Dragons and Furies were going toe-to-toe for the first half of their game, with scores level at the first break and the Dragons with a single point lead at Half-Time. However the game won't be remembered for that, it will only be remembered for the Dragons scoring just 6 behinds for the second half of the match. Despite the dismal effort in front of goal after the Main Break, Blaze Storm still got the 3 votes with 22 disposals, 9 tackles, 4 Frees and scoring 1 goal 1 as well as DragoDelph getting some of the votes with his effort of 13 disposals and 11 tackles. Furies ruckman NaturalDisaster, along with the win, got the last vote with 14 hitouts, 25 disposals, 4 tackles and 2 goals.

    1678351411358.png
As if going up against the last undefeated team of the season wasn't daunting enough, before the match the Phoenix had received the first 4-point penalty of the season. This meant East Side had to win just to undo the damage they had received, but winning by 79 points was a little overkill. The Blue Weirdo was calculated to be the main part of this upset win with 26 disposals, 7 marks, 4 tackles, 2 Frees and 4 goals with Jack The Godfather not too far behind with 28 disposals, 9 marks, 2 tackles and 4 goals 2. Sun Ra gave Baghdad something to smile about though, getting 16 disposals, 11 tackles, 2 Frees and 1 goal, which was the Bomber's 3rd last goal late in the 2nd quarter.

    1678351440722.png
In what was an arm-wrestle in the mud, the Roys won a tight contest even though the match report shows that they were in front at every break. While Sin City was able to hit the front at various stages of the game, they were continuously playing catch-up for the entire match and couldn't get a lead when it mattered. tigs2010 was the best of the winners with 25 disposals, 5 tackles, 3 Frees and scoring 2 goals 2 with Allikat also helping the Roys hold the Swamprats off with 21 disposals, 6 marks, 2 tackles, 1 Free and 1 goal. The reason why the Swamprats were even in the contest was with okeydoke7 kicking 6 goals 3 from 9 kicks, 1 tackle and 1 Free to keep them within arm's reach.

    1678351473706.png
From one team who almost had a comeback, to a team that had an almighty comeback. The Warriors were behind at the first break by 28 points and were at that margin again early in the 3rd. So it was a quite the surprise when Coney Island not only got within a point at the final break but managed to stay in front for the last quarter. FootyGuy13 with his 5th goal sealed the win for the Warriors, which got him Best-on-Ground honours along with his 24 disposals and 6 marks. For the Royals, Kapow!!! was the best with 18 disposals, 5 marks, 5 tackles, 1 Free and scoring 2 goals 1 while nahnah got 5 goals for themselves from 5 kicks and 2 tackles.

    1678351504113.png
A rather straightforward match, the Bears kept the Old Boys within reach but never at a distance that made them a problem. A cruisy 5-goal win in warm conditions to the Bears was all Electronic_Renaissance needed to be the first person to have the Performance of the Week for a second time this season. E_R recorded 21 disposals, 15 tackles, 1 Free and scored 1 goal 1 to also be the first person to hit double-digits in the votes. Robertio also came away with votes with 27 disposals, 9 marks, 4 tackles and 3 goals while Millky95's 22 disposals, 6 tackles and 5 Frees were also helpful for Las Vegas to climb the ladder to first place.

    1678351530389.png
In what was yet another dominant display of the round, the Wonders came out of the blocks early and got to a 56-point lead at Half-Time. While West Coast only won the 2nd half by 8 points, winning every quarter is still quite the achievement after having the game sown up so early and letting go of the accelerator. Frothies Mcveigh got the 3 votes for his role in the game, scoring 6 goals 3 from 9 kicks, 1 mark and 2 tackles. Ruckman damicky was also a key factor with 11 hitouts, 21 disposals, 1 mark, 5 tackles, 5 Frees and 2 goals with Cubs2Lions making it a clean sweep with 19 disposals, 8 tackles and 3 Frees getting him the last vote over the Gumbies best player, GWS Goose.

    Round 7
  • It's Round 7 and the competition is still as tight as ever. Have any of last week's results had any major impact on who will take out the predictor?

    1678929527245.png
This game pretty much sums up the Bombers season so far. After Baghdad was ahead for so long and at each break, the Roys stayed with them and ran over the top of them to create an unassailable lead late in the fourth quarter for the Roys to now be the team on top and the Bombers to now have a 2 game losing streak. It wasn't all bad news for Baghdad however, with Pugsley getting away with Best-on-Ground honours with 19 disposals, 7 tackles, 1 Free and 1 goal. Even Sun Ra got amongst the votes with 18 disposals, 7 tackles, 2 Frees and 1 goal. The Roys do get someone of mention along with the win with Ed_Gein splitting the duo with 20 disposals, 1 mark, 7 tackles, 4 Frees and 1 goal 1.

    1678929561714.png
East Side's inaccuracy in front of goal was their undoing in this game as Mount Buller took advantage of the muddy conditions and got their first win of the season on a day where only 19 goals were scored. Though they are still a game behind 12th, finally getting that win may be the kickstart for the Demon's season to get on track. Of the 19 goals scored, 5 were kicked by Greenery with 1 mark, 8 disposals, 3 tackles and 2 Frees also to his name. Tarkyn_24 also kept in touch with the leaders with 11 disposals, 5 tackles, 2 Frees and 1 goal 2 having him 1 vote off the overall lead. thewizardmelon was the only shining light for the Phoenix with a dominant display in the ruck with 13 hitouts, 21 disposals and 2 tackles.

    1678929604732.png
The Furies were almost looking to be mounting a comeback at the last break after a goalless first quarter, but the Gumbies kept them out of arms reach and cruised to a 26-point win. This caused the 2 teams to almost swap places on the ladder in what has so far been a very even season where only a game separates 2nd and 9th. Despite only showing up for 1 quarter, the Furies did have someone take the 3 votes with Fridge getting 25 disposals, 9 tackles, 5 Frees and scoring 1 goal 2. The Gumbies took the remaining share of votes with Dory_77 (6 goals 3 from 9 kicks, 1 mark, 1 tackle, 1 Free) and StFly (4 goals 2 from 6 kicks, 2 tackles, 1 Free) being the reason why the Gumbies were so dominant in front of goal.

    1678929767398.png
The game was threatening to be the close game of the week, with neither the Warriors or the Wonders getting much of a leg up in the first half of the match. However, Coney Island took advantage of the premiership quarter and built a lead that, while West Coast continued to be part of the contest, relatively stayed the same for the rest of the game. Helping with that was Tonga Bob who had 20 disposals, 12 tackles and 7 Frees as well as Mofra with 22 disposals, 9 tackles and 2 Frees. The midfield wasn't fully dominated by the Warrior duo, with Cubs2Lions having 27 disposals, 10 tackles and 6 Frees to keep him within reach of the overall lead.

    1678939960393.png
The only team that the Demons were in reach of, the Swamprats weren't going to just let them catch-up. Las Vegas, on the other hand, would've liked to have stayed atop the ladder a little longer. The game was rather straightforward for what was a major upset, with the margin at each break only changing between 9 and 14 points. The Bears, despite the result, did have someone be the Performance of the Round. Millky95 with 28 disposals, 10 tackles, 6 Frees and 1 goal got the 3 votes ahead of Swamprat ruckman GremioPower (14 hitouts, 31 disposals, 7 tackles, 1 Free) and full-forward okeydoke7 (5 goals from 5 kicks and 1 tackle) to give Las Vegas fans something to cheer about.

    1678929826998.png
A see-sawing battle from start to finish, the Old Boys really should've had this game wrapped up at various stages of the game. The Royals, however, stayed in touch of the contest and eventually got the winning goal with 88 seconds left on the clock. While it ended being the deciding factor in who got the 4 points, it would be other goal-scorers that got into the votes. Mrs Turbo with 16 disposals, 7 tackles, 5 Frees and 3 goals 2 was considered the reason why it took Gold City to hit the front, especially with GreyCrow (12 hitouts, 18 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 Frees) and nahnah (4 goals 2 from 6 kicks, 1 mark, 1 tackle) being the reasons the Royals were still in, and end up winning, the contest.

    Round 8
  • Round 8, and we almost have an entire team of players within reach of 1st place, but who is in the top spot?

    1679463896528.png

With the two teams being compared to each other since the Old Boys came into the League, the Furies have yet to lose to Ophidian in 2 games. This game, however, had a bonus for the Furies, with it being a 71-point belting against some old faces. So with the contest pretty much over during the 2nd quarter, it was a bit of a surprise to see Fridge get the votes required to reach double-digits and the top of the leaderboard with 21 disposals, 8 tackles and 2 Frees. Wickzki got the 3 votes with 14 disposals, 1 mark, 8 tackles, 2 Frees and 2 goals, while Robertio backed them up with 29 disposals, 8 marks and 6 tackles in what would've been a big celebration at the Hippodrome.

    1679463937407.png

Despite everything Coney Island threw at them, the Dragons continued their dominance over the Warriors. The Dragons were behind at Quarter-Time and were even kept goalless in the 4th, but kicking 7 goals to 2 in the 3rd quarter meant that the usual business the two sides have on the field stays the same for yet another game. DragoDelph has been named the best of the Dragons with 25 disposals, 5 tackles and 2 Frees, while Dinsdale gave the Warriors some highlights with 20 disposals, 5 tackles and 3 Frees. Hatchy1992 was deemed the better Full-Forward for the day, kicking 3 goals 3 from 6 kicks and 2 tackles in the rainy conditions.

    1679463970876.png
After losing to the Demons and giving them their first win, the Phoenix made a statement against the top-of-the-table Roys. East Side was ready for the contest; the scores were tied with just 3 minutes remaining on the clock. Enter stage left Itsmyshow , who not only kicked the winning goal to keep the Phoenix within touching distance of the Top 8 but also got the 3 votes with 5 goals 1 in total from 6 kicks, 3 marks, 1 tackle and 1 Free. East Side also managed to sweep the votes despite the close contest with MP_ (19 disposals, 6 tackles, 2 Frees, 1 goal) and raskolnikov (3 disposals, 7 tackles, 2 Frees, 1 goal), keeping the Roys' best player, Zevon, away from making trouble.

    1679464004216.png
Fresh from their first win, you would've thought the Demons would try to replicate the feat once they knew how to win. Instead, the Bears used Mount Buller to return to the top of the ladder while drowning the Demons in the rainy weather. The contest was close to Half-Time, but the Bears then decided to start trying and left Mount Buller in the soggy dust. cartwright still managed to get the 3 votes despite all that with 19 disposals, 7 tackles, 1 Free and 3 goals while a myriad of Las Vegas players fought it out for the remaining votes. My calculations have Cap (13 hitouts, 14 disposals, 1 tackle, 4 Frees, 1 goal) and Broken (6 kicks, 2 tackles, 1 Free, 2 goals 4) being the best but don't expect this when the actual votes come out.

    1679464035316.png
After backing up their premiership success with four wins to start the season, I don't think anyone expected the three Bomber losses to proceed. However, they were fighting back for the win against the Royals; Baghdad came from too far back and ran out of time. Gold City now sits 2nd on percentage behind 1st while Baghdad needs a win to stay in the 8 but it wasn't all bad news for them. gab213 was Best-on-Ground for the Bombers, kicking 7 goals 3 from 10 kicks, 1 mark, 1 tackle and 1 Free. The usual suspects for the Royals were also on hand with GreyCrow (17 hit-outs, 22 disposals, 5 tackles, 1 Free, 1 goal) and CakeEater ( 25 disposals, 8 tackles, 3 Frees) helping their team across the line.

    1679464122764.png
In the battle to see who would be left behind in such a close season, the Swamprats came out of the blocks, wanting to climb the ladder. But the Wonders made the most of the remaining 3 quarters, overpowering Sin City and winning by almost 8 goals. It was such a dominant win that one of the Wonders even got Performance of the Week. Frothies Mcveigh recorded 10 goals and 1 behind from 11 kicks, 3 marks, 1 tackle and 1 Free to put them in a good position in the Fred. The Swamprats Full-Foward also got in the votes with okeydoke7 kicking 4 goals 3 from 7 kicks, 4 tackles and 1 Free, with Sin City ruckman GremioPower rounding it out with 15 hit-outs, 21 disposals, 5 tackles and 3 Frees.

    Round 9
  • It's now halfway through the season, and we have a new leader! However, will they win?

    1680140667089.png
Close contest for the first quarter; the accuracy of the Roys hid the fact that the Furies completely controlled the scoreboard after the first break. The Furies slowly grew their lead for the rest of the game, with the Roys simply focusing on kicking the ball through the uprights. The Furies' best player for the day, omgfridge , has also become the new leader for the Mobbs predictor off his 13 disposals and 10 tackle performance. tigs2010 also has jumped into a podium spot with his own 22 disposals, 8 tackles and 3 Frees game. Away from the main show, ShaunDuggan took the last vote for the Furies getting 4 goals 3 off 7 kicks, 1 mark, 1 handball, 2 tackles and 1 Free.

    1680142157243.png
In another close contest that was a beating, the Dragons waited until after half-time to drag East Side through the muddy conditions. The Phoenix was just in front at the main break but only scored 1 goal 5 for the entire second half while the Dragons steamrolled them everywhere, including the votes. Hatchy1992 was the main steamroller, kicking 6 goals 2 from 8 kicks and 1 Free. Meanwhile, DragoDelph got into the Top 3 on the Mobbs Predictor leaderboard with 19 disposals, 4 tackles, 1 Free and kicking 1 goal 2. The last Dragon in the votes is Pie 4 Life, who beat MP_ to the last vote with 13 disposals, 6 tackles and 1 Free.

    1680142225534.png
We've already had one game where the Demons lost after kicking the first 7 goals; now we have Mount Buller losing after being 7 goals ahead at Half-Time. The Gumbies kicking 8 goals to the Demons 1 in the last quarter also helped with that. However, Mount Buller did have one thing go right for them, with Greenery getting the title of Performance of the Round. Greenery did a lot of the damage control on the scoreboard, kicking 6 goals 3 from 10 kicks, 2 handballs, 6 tackles and 2 Frees. The Gumbies' returning player Mop made a remarkable comeback to the game (18 disposals, 3 marks, 2 tackles, 4 Frees and 3 goals 3) while being supported by DenieD (14 disposals, 6 tackles, 3 Frees, 2 goals) in what might be the Gumbies best comeback in seasons.

    1680142281550.png
The Bombers returned to the winner's circle by keeping the Warriors to another game where Coney Island didn't show up for the first quarter. While the Warriors almost got within single digits of the lead, Baghdad returned to putting the accelerator down after the Main Break to cruise to victory. norway blue got the 3 votes for his 23 disposals, 11 tackles, 2 Frees and 1 goal 1 over the Bombers' Full-Forward gab213, who scored 5 goals 2 from 7 kicks, 4 marks, 8 handballs and Frees. The Coney Island Full-Forward, The Filth Wizard, got on the board, scoring their own 5 goals 1 from 6 kicks, 1 Mark and 1 Free.

    1680142351502.png
At this point, 11 teams are still within a win of the top of the table. One of those teams isn't the Swamprats, who keep joining the Demons at the wrong end of the ladder. This week, Sin City let the Old Boys get to a 20-point margin which never waivered for the rest of the game. According to the votes, however, the Swamprats had better individual games than Ophidian. ant555 was the best from the losing side with their 16 disposals, 9 tackles, 3 Frees and 1 goal 1 being deemed better than Elton Johns Wig's 10 hit-outs, 30 disposals, 2 Frees and 4 goals 1. Power Raid's 25 disposals, 5 tackles, 2 Frees and 2 goals rounded out the votes despite the overall result.

    1680142389971.png
Now for the one game that wasn't one-sided and see-sawed for most of the match. The Wonders would eventually get away from the Bears before the final siren. However, considering that the margin barely ever reached double-digits for a large swath of the game, that does seem like an achievement in this context. West Coast veteran Grand Uncle Horace was the best of the Wonders group with 17 disposals, 7 tackles and 4 Frees, while dogs105 was his deputy with 16 disposals, 3 marks, 1 tackle, 1 Free and 3 goals. Las Vegas did get 1 person in the votes for their troubles, with Broken getting 4 goals 1 from 5 kicks and 2 Frees.

    Round 10
  • Round 10, more players are reaching double-digits, more people getting within touching distance of the lead.

    1680757485718.png
The Wonders obliterated the Bombers, even after winning the 3rd quarter. In the three quarters that West Coast had complete control of the game, they tripled the Baghdad score and only let 2 Bombers kick multiple goals. Of the Wonders players, Grand Uncle Horace got Performance of the Week with his output of 28 disposals, 14 tackles, 3 Frees and 3 goals. GUH was starting it and finishing it with teammates Frothies Mcveigh (11 goals 2 from 13 kicks, 1 tackle) and damicky (18 hit-outs, 34 disposals, 4 tackles, 1 Free, 2 goals 1), helping it be a day to remember for the West Coast faithful and a day of figuring out what went wrong for Pugsley and the Bombers.

    1680757534145.png
The Furies are now one of the three teams ahead of the pack with their massive comeback over the Swamprats, who are still struggling to find where to get regular wins. Ahead by almost five goals a minute in the final quarter, Sin City also didn't score a single point for the last 17 minutes as the Furies clawed away at the margin and might a tight contest before NaturalDisaster finally kicked the game-sealing goal. His 13 hit-outs, 26 disposals, 3 tackles, 2 Frees and 3 goals for the game were only topped by teammate JyeDye who got 24 disposals, 9 tackles, 4 Frees and 1 goal and opponent ant555's 33 disposals, 8 tackles and 3 Frees.

    1680757578209.png
The Warriors and the Gumbies played out a straightforward game, with Coney Island hitting the lead during the 2nd quarter and never looking like relinquishing it despite the 13-point final margin. The 2nd quarter pretty much set up the Warriors' win with Tonga Bob getting the 3 votes with his 27 disposals, 9 tackles, 3 Frees and scoring 1 goal 1. Gumbies ruckman Falconista also got on the board with 17 hit-outs, 19 disposals, 6 tackles and 2 Frees, with spudmaster rounding out the 3 with 34 disposals, 10 marks, 2 tackles, 1 Free and 2 goals. It now sees both teams on five wins alongside five other teams, with the end of the Home and Away season fast approaching.

    1680757618325.png
The Phoenix are still trying to play catch-up thanks to their 4-point penalty, and beating the Bears sees them outside the 8, thanks only to the punishment. In a high-scoring game, East Side won by over five goals despite having two fewer scoring shots, a prime example of why having good accuracy in front of the goal is just as crucial as having forward dominance. One player that cannot be blamed for the Las Vegas woes was Broken who single-handedly kept the Bears in it with 10 goals 3 from 13 kicks, 1 mark, 3 tackles and 2 Frees. The Phoenix stayed in front with The Blue Weirdo (25 disposals, 12 marks, 4 tackles, 2 Frees, 5 goals 2) and Milera2Betts (23 disposals, 8 tackles, 2 Frees, 1 goal), helping East Side stay in touch of the pack.

    1680757663301.png
The Dragons hit the front right from the get-go and never let the Old Boys get any whiff of the lead. That sees the Dragons ahead of the pack and Ophidian a game behind. Still plenty of time in the season, but you can't be caught slacking off now. The central part of the Dragons' coasting win was DragoDelph who hits the top of the Mobbs Predictor with his 21 disposals, 10 tackles, 2 Frees and 3 goals. The Old Boys make up the rest of the votes, with both Elton Johns Wig (17 hit-outs, 22 disposals, 4 tackles, 1 Free, 1 goal) and Mrs Turbo (14 disposals, 6 tackles, 2 Frees, 1 goal) providing some highlights for those behind the Ophidian goals.

    1680757702131.png
At least this time, the Demons gave up the lead during the 2nd quarter instead of giving their supporters hope for the entire game. The Royals continue having a presence in the Top 4 thanks to the win, while Mount Buller is still only on one win, even with Gold City only scoring 4 points in the last quarter. The Demons, despite their lack of wins, have been managing to get high votes with both cartwright (17 disposals, 13 tackles, 5 Frees, 1 goal) and Tarkyn_24 (21 disposals, 8 tackles, 3 Frees, 1 goal 1) within sight of being on top the Mobbs Predictor. Also near the top is Cadsky, who got the last vote with 22 disposals, 8 tackles, 3 Frees and 1 goal.

    Round 11
  • Round 11 and 3 teams managed to get a 3-2-1 sweep. Find out who they were right now.

    1681466285802.png
The conditions for this game were called "warm" but there was quite the gale blowing with 22 goals being kicked on one side of the ground compared to the 6 scored at the other end. The Bombers took better advantage of the wind just by not going goalless in 2 quarters as they romped home against the ever-coming-back Dragons. Pugsley was the best of Baghdad on this day as they amassed 18 disposals, 9 tackles, 6 Frees and 1 goal with teammate also getting amongst the best with 19 disposals, 8 tackles, 5 Frees and 1 goal. Knifey Spoony of the Dragons stopped it from a complete Bomber whitewash, getting 24 disposals, 8 marks, 2 tackles and 2 goals.

    1681466319300.png
The Demons won, I repeat, the Demons won a second game and are now only 13th because of percentage. A dominant second half helped this as they powered ahead of the Furies with enough behind scored to ensure victory. Although the Furies did show enough fight, the votes don't reflect that with Mount Buller all votes on offer. cartwright made it another Best-on-Ground game with 20 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 Frees and 3 goals, Greenery had the game on lock near the goal with 3 goals 5 scored from 8 kicks and 3 tackles while sante's 27 disposals, 10 marks and 3 tackles kept the Furies' ShaunDuggan from entering the votes.

    1681466372844.png
The Royals are now a game clear of the rest of the competition and are well poised to see finals action. Gold City saw some trouble from the Roys in the first quarter but after the quarter break, the Royals had no problems cruising to victory in this match. GreyCrow also took out Performance of the Round with his statistics of 18 hit-outs, 24 disposals, 7 tackles, 2 Frees and scoring 4 goals 2 in a big day for the ruckman. Other Gold City players who made the votes were CakeEater (30 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 Frees, 2 goals 1) and nahnah (5 goals 3 from 8 kicks, 1 mark, 3 tackles, 2 Frees) who stopped Mike from getting any Roys on the board.

    1681466470972.png
The Warriors were looking dead to rights during the second quarter, as they were down by 26 points at the Main Break. So it was quite the surprise when the script got flipped and Coney Island proceeded to score 17 goals to 2 in the second half, including scoring 9 goals to 3 behinds in the 3rd quarter. pantskyle took the 3 votes for the game with 14 hit-outs, 27 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 Frees and 2 goals as the Warriors were allowed to run riot. Ophidian took the rest of the placings with FireKrakouer (17 disposals, 8 tackles, 2 Frees, 2 goals) and SaintBilly (24 disposals, 7 tackles, 9 Frees) doing their best to limit the damage a bit.

    1681466571053.png
In what ended up being a rain-soaked slog, neither team seemed to have the upper hand until after the last break when the Gumbies broke away from their Sin City opponents and left the Swamprats dangerously close to the bottom of the ladder. At the forefront of this was DenieD who was deemed the best player on the day with 22 disposals, 5 tackles, 5 frees and 2 goals. For their troubles, Sin City had Power Raid (25 disposals, 5 tackles, 3 Frees) and ant555 (16 disposals, 2 tackles, 7 Frees, 1 goal) get the remaining votes as they work on a way that might stop them from becoming Wooden Spooners from being an inevitability to just a possibility.

    1681466610973.png
For 3 quarters it felt like the Wonders were in first gear, letting East Side stay in touch without letting them get their noses in front. In the last quarter, however, the West Coast side put the pedal to the metal and steamrolled the Phoenix, doubling their score whilst keeping East Side to a solitary point. West Coast's main duo this season, Grand Uncle Horace (11 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 Frees) and Frothies Mcveigh (5 goals 2 from 7 kicks, 1 mark), were once again the base for the overwhelming victory as damicky (9 hit-outs, 14 disposals, 5 tackles, 1 Free) held off Milera2Betts (now Rankine2Rachele) for a complete Phoenix annihilation.

    Round 12
  • Just one-third of the season left, will anyone make a break for an actual lead?

    1681971884048.png
On paper, this was a close game. Watching it, however, was a different story. The Old Boys would continuously get out to a 2-3 goal lead with the Bombers continuously bringing the margin back to under a goal. Unfortunately for Baghdad though, that means that they were never in a position to take the victory here, they were giving Ophidian too much leeway to do whatever they wanted and couldn't reign them back in. Especially SaintBilly who got 31 disposals, 9 tackles and 6 Frees in what was a dominant display in the midfield. kickthething flew the flag for the Bombers with 15 hit-outs, 24 disposals, 7 tackles and 4 Frees while Mrs Turbo reached double-digits in the votes with 18 disposals, 6 tackles, 7 Frees and 1 goal.

    1681971915004.png
Despite the rainy conditions, the Gumbies had no trouble getting the qootyball through the two uprights. The Gumbies never gave the Phoenix an inch as East Side struggled to get a foot in the door and deal some damage control. GWS Goose had the biggest say with the result, getting 15 disposals, 6 tackles, 3 Frees and scoring 1 goal 2. The Phoenix, even with the drubbing they received, still managed to get 2 people in the votes with Drunkgoliath (5 goals from 5 kicks and 1 tackle) and the player formerly known as Milera2Betts (15 disposals, 6 tackles, 4 Frees) being the few shining lights for East Side in this game.

    1681971945730.png
The Roys and Dragons also had a close contest this round with both teams getting 2 quarter wins each. Winning the premiership quarter would be what would separate the two teams at the end with the Roys making the most of their opportunities and securing the 4 points on the ladder and all 6 votes here, leaving the Dragons with only missed chances and a few more scoring shots. tigs2010 was once again the Best Player in a game and got into a podium position on the Mobbs Predictor Leader-Board, getting 13 disposals, 10 tackles and 2 Frees. Teammates DERRINALPHIL (10 hit-outs, 20 disposals, 3 tackles, 2 Frees and 2 goals 1) and Zevon (18 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 Frees) kept Hatchy1992 away from ruining the Roys 3-2-1.

    1681971976165.png
They say one good turn deserves another and after getting their 2nd win for the season, the Demons could've gotten off the bottom of the ladder if they could go back-to-back. While Mount Buller got off to a great start to the match, a 3rd win was not on the cards this round, with the Warriors giving back everything they were receiving and then some. Wosh of the Demons was the Performance of the Week with 7 goals 1 from 8 kicks, 2 tackles and 1 Free with the Coney Island duo TheInjuryFactory (25 disposals, 5 marks, 3 tackles, 1 Free, 4 goals) and pantskyle (19 hit-outs, 27 disposals, 5 tackles, 1 goal) getting their team back into the Top 4.

    1681972009596.png
The Bears went goalless in the 3rd. The Furies went goalless in the 4th. When the two teams were figuring out how to get the ball to their end, it was the Fighting Furies who managed to get out in front and stay there despite the late Las Vegas fightback. When it came to the votes, the usuals continued to build up their totals with Fridge jumping into the lead with their 3-vote game, recording 30 disposals, 8 tackles, 4 Frees and scoring 1 goal 1 and Electronic_Renaissance getting back in the votes with 16 disposals, 8 tackles and 6 Frees. Millky95 got the last vote with 23 disposals, 5 tackles, 5 Frees and 1 goal.

    1681972042390.png
The Wonders were ahead by nearly 3 goals early in the 2nd quarter. The Royals were ahead by 3 goals early in the 4th quarter. The margin was 1 point in Gold City's favour for 7 minutes. West Coast had ample opportunity to get the win here but the Royals' defense was too much for the Wonders to handle as Gold City stay 1 game ahead of the pack. It was CakeEater 's turn to be the Royals' Best Players with 18 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 Frees and scoring 2 goals 1. Brenton Davy also got amongst it with 19 disposals, 8 marks, 3 tackles and 3 goals 1 while grumbleguts rounded out the 3 with 18 disposals, 11 marks, 2 tackles, 2 Frees and 2 goals 2.

    Round 13
  • Every team has played each other once, every team has had a bye. Let's have a look at the week that was.

    1682583216402.png
Despite scoring 151 points for the game, the Bombers could've easily lost this one to the Gumbies if they didn't start the 2nd half on the right foot. Whatever happened to Baghdad in the 2nd quarter proved to be just an aberration as the Bombers had seemingly no problem getting the win in this match. gab213's score of 5 goals 5 proved to be the difference as well, reaching the result from 10 kicks and 3 tackles with teammate norway blue getting the ball down to their forward line with 26 disposals, 8 tackles and 6 Frees. The Gumbies full-forward also did their fair share, with Dory_77 kicking 6 goals 4 from 10 kicks and 1 tackle.

    1682583246917.png
The Phoenix are back to being within a game of the Top 8 and had a straightforward win against a Top 4 side in the Furies. East Side lead at every break and increased their lead in every quarter, it was a cruisy win that could've been close if the first half was anything to go by. What the Furies did win, however, was almost all the votes in the Predictor. The person on top for the Furies was Frederico_WA, with 11 disposals, 7 tackles, 7 Frees and scoring 1 goal 1. JyeDye hit double-digits with 17 disposals, 7 tackles, 7 Frees and 1 goal 1 while por_please_ya flew the flag for the Phoenix with 11 hit-outs, 16 disposals, 3 tackles, 2 Frees and 2 goals 1.

    1682583280239.png
The Demons are off the bottom of the ladder! That's right, Mount Buller isn't last anymore, and they did it in the unconventional way of a draw. The Demons took control of the game in the 2nd quarter, the Dragons took control back in the 3rd, and the 4th saw the conclusion of the Full-Forward shootout happening at both ends of the ground. Only one of the Full-Forward could get the 3 votes though, and Hatchy1992 even took out the Performance of the Round tag with their 9 goals 3 from 12 kicks and 3 marks. Wosh wasn't too far behind with 8 goals 2 from 10 kicks while Ljp86 was deemed to be the best of the rest with 29 disposals, 6 marks, 4 tackles, 1 Free and 3 goals.

    1682583323775.png
The Wonders managed to get the 4 points here, despite starting on the back foot during the first quarter. The Roys couldn't get a hold of the contest after the first break and couldn't get back in front as West Coast made it a 4-goal margin and were happy to keep it there for the rest of the game. The Roys were still able to get a foothold in the votes though, with Zevon being judged Best-on-Ground with 23 disposals, 10 tackles and 5 Frees while tigs2010 got another vote to the overall lead with 25 disposals, 6 tackles, 7 Frees and scored 1 goal 2. Cubs2Lions made it to double-digits with 22 disposals, 9 tackles and 4 Frees which helped see the Wonders reach the Top 4.

    1682583355775.png
It was a day to forget for the ladder leaders, as the Royals were an absolute no-show for all but the 2nd quarter as their usual suspects in votes were outdone by the Bears who used the win to get within the Top 8. This is further shown with Las Vegas getting all 6 votes in the Predictor as Broken (with 5 goals 2 from 7 kicks, 1 mark, 4 tackles and 2 Frees) got best afield honours amongst plenty of worthy winners. Cap was another that got into the double-digits this week as they got 12 hit-outs, 23 disposals, 3 tackles and a goal while Jezmiester40 got onto the board over the Royals' GreyCrow, with 5 goals 1 from 6 kicks and 1 mark.

    1682583396002.png
Oh wow, this almost went belly-up for the Warriors over the final quarter. Leading the Swamprats 91 to 17 with 5 minutes remaining in the 3 quarter, there were jokes from some in the Coney Island camp that they should close up shop and go home early. The thing is, they seemed to have done just that going 6 to 71 for the remaining half hour. The Warriors survived going for 3 quarters but they wouldn't want to make a habit of it. ant555 led the Sin City comeback with 16 disposals, 6 tackles, 5 Frees and scoring 1 goal 1 while GremioPower took 14 hit-outs, 20 disposals, 1 tackle, 3 Frees and 1 goal. Dinsdale was the best of Coney Island with 14 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 Frees and scoring 1 goal 2 as the Warriors became only some percentage off the top of the table.

    Round 14
  • Onto the final stretch, byes are being given out like it's on sale, let's see who turned it on in Round 14.

    1683194469088.png
In what was a high-scoring and close contest, it could've been either side that could've been the winner here. Even when the Warriors got out to a 2-goal lead going into the last quarter, the Bombers were giving Coney Island a lot to worry about. 2 late Warrior goals sealed the victory for the team now on top of the ladder but they sure had to fight to get there. Coney Island also had the Best-on-Ground player with Tonga Bob's 28 disposals, 7 tackles, 2 Frees and 2 goals 1 being called the better than the Baghdad duo of gab213 (8 goals 4 from 12 kicks and 1 Free) and kickthething (16 hit-outs, 28 disposals, 4 tackles, 5 Frees and a goal) who tried their best to get the Bombers over the line.

    1683194502323.png
Joining Coney Island at the top was West Coast. You would not have thought at Quarter-Time with the Gumbies 2 goals in front that the Wonders would storm out to a 10-goal win. After giving the Gumbies a taste of the lead, West Coast could hardly do anything wrong as they heaped more and more pain onto the Gumbies. Not even in the Predictor did the Wonders give an inch, with Cubs2Lions getting the 3 votes with their 28 disposals, 6 tackles, 1 Free and 2 goals. Frothies Mcveigh is now 1 vote off the lead, getting their own 7 goals 2 from 9 kicks and 1 Free while damicky got 17 hit-outs, 19 disposals, 5 tackles, 2 Frees and 2 goals 1 to edge out Aucklander for the last vote.

    1683194537425.png
A see-sawing affair before the result became a forgone conclusion, the score was tied at the first break with the Bears 4 goals ahead at the Half. The Roys then used the Premiership Quarter to its full advantage and piled on 10 unanswered goals to a single Las Vegas point. The result sees the Roys have a game buffer over the Bears, who are now on the precipice of not making the finals. Before we worry about their last 3 games though, Mooch was unmatched up forward with 8 goals 1 from 9 kicks, 1 mark and 1 tackle while Broken held his own at the other end with 5 goals 3 scored from 8 kicks ad 2 tackles. Zevon rounded them out with 23 disposals, 5 tackles and 2 goals.

    1683194575410.png
Right now, every team that is out of the Top 8 either cannot make it mathematically or they still have plenty of time to cement a spot inside before the madness of the last round. Ophidian made sure to keep it this way as they made light work of the Royals despite both sides having a slow start to the game. SaintBilly helped his team keep their finals chances alive and as a byproduct had the Performance of the Week with 28 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 Frees and kicking 3 goals 1. Cadsky once again flew the flag for the Royals with 20 disposals, 6 tackles, 3 Frees and 1 goal 1 as Bonz became the 100th person this season to get a Predictor vote from getting 5 goals 1 from 6 kicks, 3 marks and a handball.

    Round 15
  • Plenty of people still getting their first vote, but has the lead been affected?

    1683800692073.png
Now with their season over, you'd think the Demons would be able to have fun without the pressure of making finals. Unfortunately for them, the Bombers are still in the races for a better position and Mount Buller once again dropped the ball, scoring just 1 goal to Baghdad's 7 in the last quarter. The Bombers even had one of their own take out the Performance of the Round with Pugsley and his 30 disposals, 9 tackles, 4 Frees and 5 goals. Wosh's 6 goals from 8 kicks, 1 mark, 3 handballs and 1 tackle helped to keep some dignity for the Demons while Jabba73 got on the board with 29 disposals, 13 marks, 2 tackles and 1 Free.

    1683800731926.png
Another team that went by the wayside after 3 Quarter Time, this was a close contest until the Gumbies had their own 7 goals to 1 final quarter that made the Dragons now half a game outside the 8 with the Gumbies one step closer to a Top 4 finish. Adding salt to the wound, the Gumbies took all the votes with them as well. Top of the Gumbies was Barrybran with 31 disposals, 8 marks, 3 tackles, 1 Free and 3 goals. GWS Goose was useful with 21 disposals, 7 tackles, and 5 Frees while DenieD reached double-digits by edging out Pie 4 Life for the last vote with 22 disposals, 6 tackles, 1 Free and 2 goals 1.

    1683800762982.png
East Side almost gave this up, the Bears were within a goal of the lead for so long in the last quarter but it wasn't to be. We'll never know what would've happened had Las Vegas converted one of their last behinds but they'll remember this outcome for a while. In a game where the role players took control of the game, the Best-on-Ground player was Catsnlakers with 21 disposals, 5 marks, 4 tackles and kicking 1 goal 2. kane249 was the best of the losing side, kicking 4 goals 1 from 6 kicks, 1 mark and 1 free while por_please_ya also got amongst the best with 8 hit-outs, 19 disposals, 3 tackles and 1 goal 1.

    1683800801990.png
The Warriors got away for long enough in the 4th quarter against the Roys, but they sure had to fight for it. Coney Island was struggling the entire game with accurate kicking in front of the goals compared to the Roys, but they were able to run out the game better despite the high-scoring nature of the last quarter. The Warriors Full-Forward The Filth Wizard got the 3 votes for his effort of 7 goals 4 from 12 kicks, 1 mark, 5 handballs, 2 tackles and 1 Free with ruckman pantskyle getting it done in the midfield with 22 hit-outs, 30 disposals, 7 tackles and 1 goal. windyhill was the highlight for the Roys with their 21 disposals, 9 tackles, 4 Frees and 1 goal 1.

    1683800846330.png
It was anyone's game for the entire match. The Furies had their chances, the Old Boys had their chances and at the final siren, it was Ophidian who was in front when it mattered. A goal with 54 seconds on the clock was all the Old Boys needed to get back inside the 8 before having the week off while the Furies were the ones to take the majority of votes in the Predictor. One positive from the match was Fridge who now has a whole 4-vote lead thanks to getting 14 disposals, 10 tackles, 4 Frees and 1 goal. Bonz is the representative for Ophidian with 4 goals 3 from 7 kicks and 2 tackles while NaturalDisaster made another appearance with 17 hit-outs, 25 disposals, 2 tackles, 1 Free and scoring 1 goal 1.

    1683800895632.png
The Royals remain the only team able to jump the Warriors this week as they got back to their winning ways against the Swamprats. Gold City had trouble getting away from Sin City for 3 quarters before having an 8 goal to 2 final term, the Swamprats just couldn't get it done over the 4 quarters. While Sin City was getting the better of the Royals, Ant Bear turned back the clock with a 19 disposal, 8 tackle, 2 Free game and getting the 3 votes. CakeEater was the person for the Royals to be up with the votes with their 12 disposals, 6 tackles, 2 Frees and 2 goals while GremioPower's 18 hit-outs, 24 disposals, 2 tackles, 1 Free and 2 goals saw him take the last vote.

    Round 16
  • Heritage Round has come and gone and some teams only have 1 more chance to get those Premiership points. Which players also took their chances?

    1684411742037.png
The Furies are making a move here to finish the season in a Top 4 position. That included driving the Gumbies into the turf when they went on a 9 goal to two 2nd quarter as the Furies went on to almost score double more than the Gumbies. The Gumbies on the other hand have the Bye this week and will have to rely on the last round to see if they make finals this season. The Furies had such a good game that one of their own got the Performance of the Week as Fridge has gotten to an almost unassailable lead and past 20 Predictor votes with 28 disposals, 12 tackles, 5 Frees and 1 goal in this match. Furies ruckman NaturalDisaster also had another cameo with 17 hit-outs, 25 disposals, 4 tackles, 3 Frees and 4 goals 2 as Dory_77 tried to get the Gumbies back into the contest, kicking 7 goals 4 from 11 kicks and 2 tackles.

    1684411778265.png
It's not Heritage Round without the match-up of the Demons and the Wonders. West Coast came out as the victors in this long-standing rivalry as they made the most of the 2nd half, continuing Mount Buller's struggles in getting to the winner's circle. Despite the Demons being cellar dwellers this season, they at least have one player they could rely on to be Mr. Consistent as Tarkyn_24 got another 3 votes from 21 disposals, 6 tackles, 4 Frees and 3 goals 2. The Wonders took the rest of the votes as Frothies Mcveigh stayed within reach of the leader, kicking 5 goals 2 from 7 kicks, 2 marks and 2 tackles as ruckman damicky did it all from the centre circle with 15 hit-outs, 20 disposals, 3 tackles, 2 Frees and 1 goal.

    1684411814589.png
Ever since East Side got their 4-point penalty, they have gotten so close to getting back into the Top 8 only to look out of reach again. While the Phoenix are still within reach of finals at this stage, getting creamed by the Bombers won't help their already terrible percentage. Despite never looking like they were ever in the contest against Baghdad, East Side did have MP_ get Best-on-Ground honours here with them getting 28 disposals, 11 tackles, 4 Frees and 2 goals 1. The Bombers had the rest of the votes covered with gab213 all over the scoreboard with 7 goals 3 from 10 kicks, 1 mark, 2 tackles and 2 Frees, while Pugsley's 29 disposals, 9 tackles and 1 goal sees them reach the "Best of the Rest" group at the top.

    1684411853890.png
The first quarter can almost always set the tone for the entire rest of the match. For the Bears, this was true as they had to wait until the 2nd quarter to score their first goal and while they did make up some ground at various stages of the game, the Dragons had full control over who was going to be the victor at the end of the game. In what was a battle in the midfield in the Predictor, it was Electronic_Renaissance who once again got another 3-vote game with 19 disposals, 8 tackles, 4 Frees and 1 goal 1 and beat DragoDelph (22 disposals, 8 tackles, 6 Frees) to be the best. Millky95 got the remaining vote with 20 disposals, 6 tackles, 2 Frees and 2 goals.

    1684411886340.png
Oh, WHAT a game this was! A top-of-the-table clash between the 2 newest teams in Sweet for Heritage Round, you couldn't have asked for a bigger setup for the game and it delivered! With the Warriors scoring a goal to be within 2 points of the lead with over 3 minutes remaining, they could've rushed forward, locked it in their 50 and force the win. Unfortunately for them, a couple of fumbles saw the ball go to the Royals' end instead for the last minute of the game a secure the 4 points. Isn't wasn't all missed chances for Coney Island though with Dinsdale (16 disposals, 8 tackles, 2 goals) and Agent93 (28 disposals, 10 marks, 4 tackles, 3 Frees, 1 goal 1) having the better individual stats than Gold City's Membling (30 disposals, 8 marks, 1 tackle, 1 Free and 3 goals 2) to go 1-2 in the Predictor votes.

    1684411914807.png
On the other end of the spectrum, there were some big drubbings during the round but none were as big as the one the Roys received from the Swamprats. It took 3 quarters for the Roys to double their quarter-time score and in the same timeframe, Sin City had already done that 9 times over. The win saw the Swamprats go back to being a full game ahead of the Demons once again as the Roys go outside the 8 with 1 game remaining. The Predictor votes were also all Sin City with Power Raid (23 disposals, 5 tackles, 6 Frees, 3 goals) ant555 (20 disposals, 7 tackles, 4 Frees, 2 goals) and GremioPower (11 hit-outs, 23 disposals, 4 tackles, 5 Frees, 2 goals) taking all the votes, rubbing salt in tigs2010's wounds.

    Round 17
  • Just one more round to go and the last 2 people able to win know what they have to do. Let's see if either of them did that.

    1684998512943.png
While we gear up for the pandemonium that is the last round, we first have to go over the Battle for the Wooden Spoon. While the fight to add another utensil for the kitchen was fierce, it was the Mount Buller Demons and their goalless 3rd quarter that sealed the fate for the bottom of the ladder. While Sin City tried their best in the last quarter to out-tank them, ant555 couldn't be stopped from getting the Performance of the Round with their 26 disposals, 9 tackles and 3 Frees. The Demons took the remainder of the votes with cartwright (17 disposals, 8 tackles, 1 goal 1) and sante (28 disposals, 3 marks, 5 tackles, 1 Free, 1 goal 1) able to test how good spoons are as skis.

    1684998547170.png
The Royals had the perfect chance to cement a Home Qualifying Final with a win over the Dragons but will now have to wait for other results to see if they are traveling for the first week of finals. The Dragons secured a spot in the finals after being behind Gold City for 3 quarters of the game before scoring a 7-goal to 2 last quarter to sink the Royals' chances of getting the Minor Premiership. VandoHawk got their first Predictor votes for the season and Best-on-Ground honours with 28 disposals, 9 marks, 3 tackles, 1 Free and scoring 2 goals 2. Royals Full-Forward nahnah still got 6 goals 1 from 7 kicks, 1 mark and 1 tackle before Gold City got run over while CakeEater was the best of the Royals' midfield with 16 disposals, 9 tackles and 1 Free.

    1684998589370.png
In most seasons, the Furies are trying to get the wooden spoon as fast as possible. This season however now sees them inside the Top 4, one win away from potentially getting the Minor Premiership, while the Phoenix were relying on results from this round to see if they could even make the Elimination Finals. We'll get to those chances in the next game but here, let's talk about Fridge who has now gotten the 3 votes 3 weeks in a row. Getting 18 disposals, 10 tackles and 4 Frees, Fridge also had JyeDye back them up with 24 disposals, 6 tackles, 3 Frees and 1 goal as the Furies cruised to victory over the 2nd half of the game. Itsmyshow gave the home side something to cheer about though, getting 3 goals 4 from 7 kicks and 4 tackles.

    1684998623303.png
A few things were at stake here. For the Wonders, a chance to be on top of the Ladder going into the Final Round. For the Old Boys, an almost 99% chance of making finals while bringing the finals chances of the Bears and Phoenix to 0. It was a hard-fought game for both sides, but it was Ophidian that proved to be the better team which now leaves the Roys the only team currently outside the 8 to have any mathematical chance of playing next week. While West Coast did suffer the loss, the Minor Premiership is still within their grasp as Grand Uncle Horace took the 3 votes with 16 disposals, 7 tackles and a Free. Old Boys Full-Forward Bonz registered 3 goals 2 from 5 kicks, 1 mark, 4 tackles and a Free while Cubs2Lions got the last vote with 22 disposals, 2 tackles, 3 Frees and a goal.

    Round 18
  • Last round of the season, we already know who has won this, but lets see who has gotten a podium finish.

    1685591530150.png
One of 2 games that decided the Top 4 in the last round, the Furies were too much for the Dragons as they lead at every break and kicked 8 goals in the 3rd quarter to ensure they had the double chance going into finals. Even with the Furies only scoring 9 points in the last quarter, the Dragons were too inaccurate in front of goal to be of any trouble. NaturalDisaster finally had a 3-vote game with their 16 hit-outs, 22 disposals and 6 tackles as ShaunDuggan also made an appearance kicking 5 goals 3 from 8 kicks and a tackle. Despite being a part of the goal-kicking woes the Dragons had, Hatchy1992's 3 goals 6 from 9 kicks, 1 mark and 1 tackle was still good enough for a vote in this game.

    1685591566040.png
After the 1st v 2nd match-up last week, now it was time for the 1st v 13th match-up which ended up determining if the Coney Island Warriors ended up being the minor premiers since Mount Buller was already assured of the wooden spoon. The game went the way you'd expect a First v Last game would go with the Warriors getting to a 4-and-a-half goal lead at the first break and keeping the margin thereabouts as Coney Island topped the final ladder for the first time in 16 seasons. The Demons got some solace as cartwright has given best-on-ground honours with their 14 disposals, 12 tackles, 2 Frees and 1 goal while the Warriors took the rest of the votes with pantskyle getting 18 hit-outs, 22 disposals, 3 tackles, 3 Frees and scoring 2 goals 1 while The Filth Wizard scored 5 goals 2 (and their 800th career goal) from 7 kicks, 4 marks and 1 tackle.

    1685591599420.png
It would be a big ask for any team to pull a 20-goal win out of the bag, with the Roys needing to do just that to simply have a chance of making finals. In the end, the Roys couldn't even reach a 1-point win over East Side who wouldn't have made finals without the penalty anyway. Early on, it was looking like the Phoenix were going to be the ones giving out the shellacking but the Roys came back to make it a respectable 13-point loss in the dead-rubber. tigs2010 got one last chance to reach the podium, getting 26 disposals, 9 tackles and 7 Frees and doing better than MP_'s 13 disposals, 7 tackles, 2 Frees and 2 goals. Mike got the board in one last roll of the dice with 20 disposals, 7 marks, 2 tackles and 3 goals.

    1685591632925.png
7th played 8th, so the Roys might not have made finals anyways if a Gijón-style fix was in. The Gumbies got off to a flying start, getting ahead to a 28-point lead halfway through the second quarter which should half almost assured them victory. Ophidian had other plans though and scored 6 of the next 8 goals to tie the scores less than a quarter later. The scores were tied again with 4 minutes remaining, only one more goal was scored and it was the Old Boys that got to host an elimination final this week. The Mobbs Predictor told a different story as all the votes went to Ophidian. Mrs Turbo got the 3 votes off of 29 disposals, 10 tackles, 6 Frees and a goal, haydo kicked the winning goal, getting 7 goals 3 from 10 kicks, 1 mark and a Free while Ligma's wait for a vote was over, getting one from 33 disposals, 13 marks, 3 tackles, 2 Frees and scoring 2 goals 3 keeping Dory_77 out of the votes.

    1685591668189.png
This game was all about the side-story of okeydoke's 1000th goal as this game had no bearing on anything ladder-related, but even that didn't go the way the Swamprats wanted as they went down to the Bears in rainy conditions while the Sin City goalkicker got subbed off half-way through the game. Las Vegas also dominated the Predictor votes with Millky95 getting the Performance of the Week from having 20 disposals, 12 tackles, 3 Frees and 1 goal 2 as Electronic_Renaissance got some last-minute votes with 25 disposals, 7 tackles, 5 Frees and 2 goals 1. Grav ended up being the star for the Swamprats with 15 disposals, 3 marks, 5 tackles, 1 Free and 1 goal.

    1685591699176.png
The second game that determined which team got to play in a Qualifying Final, the game went down to the wire between the Wonders and the Bombers. After a low-scoring first half with the Bombers having trouble kicking for goal, Baghdad got over their yips with 7 goals in the last quarter. Unfortunately for them, West Coast had already grown a big-enough lead and even though the scores were tied with 8 minutes left, the Bombers were left always playing catch-up for the entire 2nd half of the game. Cubs2Lions got the last 3-vote game of the season with 18 disposals, 11 tackles, 3 Frees and a goal, gab213 also added to their tally, kicking 7 goals 3 from 10 kicks, 1 tackle and 1 Free while MayTheNorthBeWithU got the last vote, kicking the winning goal and getting 5 goals 3 from 11 kicks, 1 mark, 1 handball and 1 Free.

    Winner?
  • And after 18 rounds, the person on top of the Mobbs Predictor is...

    1685694443008.png

...a total of 5 people finishing equal 3rd. So unless someone else wants to tag them in, they just have to read the thread.

It was quite clear from the previous update that Fridge was going to win this, with their 3-vote game in Round 17 sealing the result. tigs2010 had no chance of winning this 2 weeks ago but did do enough to finish ahead of the pack in 2nd. The 5 that ended up sharing the 3rd-place podium became ant555, cartwright, Cubs2Lions, Electronic_Renaissance and Frothies Mcveigh in might prove to be a close race for the actual Mobbs Medal this season.

Has this predictor been wildly wrong this whole season, or have I actually spoiled the end result? Only one way to find out.

    Finals Week 1
  • @FootyGuy13 well done on starting and finishing a thread
@FootyGuy13 this is the best singular media thread of the season. Thanks for following through to the end,
View attachment You think I'm finished.mp4

We still have to find out who the Best Finals Player is, so wipe that slate clean and let's see who is gonna dominate June.

That has now been 3 for 3 games this season where the Warriors and the Royals have played an absolute blinder of a game. Gold City once again got the jump early, quickly scoring 4 goals before Coney Island could even manage a point, but the Warriors still managed to roll that margin back to be in the lead with less than 3 minutes remaining. This is where the game went off-script compared to the previous 2 games with the Royals managing to get the win despite leading at the last break, thanks to a goal and a last-minute defensive effort. Between the goals, Cadsky did the best with 21 disposals, 3 tackles, 2 Frees and scoring 5 goals 1 while it's the likes of Tonga Bob (17 disposals, 7 tackles, 4 Frees) and pantskyle (15 hit-outs, 22 disposals, 4 tackles, 2 Frees, 2 goals) who did their best to give their teammates a week off.

It takes a lot of guts to go goalless in the final quarter and still come away with the win, but that's what happens when you go crazy in the Premiership quarter and score 7 goals to 1. The Wonders had trouble shaking the Furies off their tail to start with, every time either team would reach a double-figure margin, the losing side would easily get it back to drawn scores. So with the Furies scoring the last 5 goals and still falling 2 goals short, you know it was a good day for West Coast. The cherry on top of this win was Cubs2Lions getting the Performance of the Round with 25 disposals, 8 tackles, 6 Frees and 2 goals 1. Frothies Mcveigh's 4 goals 7 from 11 kicks, 1 mark and 3 tackles helped the Wonders get across the line while NaturalDisaster was the pick from the Furies with 7 hit-outs, 19 disposals, 6 tackles and a Free.

Now it's nothing but elimination games from here on out, though the Bombers was never in any danger of leaving the finals early. Baghdad were given plenty of scares from the Gumbies, but the Bombers were always 3 kicks in front of trouble. When it comes to finals, it would've helped the blood pressure when the game was as straightforward as this was. Baghdad got out to a commanding lead early and let off the pedal after the first break, and while the Gumbies slowly got closer to commandeering the lead from them, Pugsley (21 disposals, 8 tackles, 3 Frees, 1 goal) and ArdentEagle (24 disposals, 7 marks, 1 tackle, 3 goals 1) put the result beyond doubt with Dory_77's accuracy for goal (4 goals from 4 kicks, 2 tackles, 1 Free) one of too few highlights.

    1686200423196.png
The second verse same as the first, adding in some goalkicking woes for the Old Boys. While scoring 4 goals 9 in the 2nd half didn't end up biting them back, Ophidian is lucky percentage is no longer a factor when it comes to continuing their season. The Dragons just couldn't get their game going at all and could've easily lost this game by a far larger margin. Elton Johns Wig was the best of the Old Boys with 12 hit-outs, 24 disposals, 4 tackles, 2 Frees and 3 goals 1, BringBackTheAnchor did what was asked of them with 23 disposals, 5 tackles, 5 Frees and 2 goals 1 while Mrs Turbo rounded out this Top 3 with 20 disposals, 7 tackles, 4 Frees and 1 goal 1.

    Finals Week 2
  • The Final 6 became the Final 4, and while the Qualifying winners got the week off, we had bounce-backs and straight set exits in the Semi-Final games.

    1686813621444.png
The second verse started the same as the first when the Warriors were once again staring at overcoming a massive margin at the Quarter-Time break, this time with the Bombers in the commanding position. However lessons must have been learned from the week prior and, after the Half-Time break, Coney Island started their assault and kept Baghdad to a goalless 3rd term. While this saw the Warriors get into a bit of a lead, the Bombers were still threatening to run away with the win with 4 minutes remaining. Too bad Coney Island didn't score any behinds in the last quarter as 2 late goals saw the Warriors make the most of their second chance, though the end result wasn't enough to displace kickthething from being Best-on-Ground with 13 hit-outs, 18 disposals, 7 tackles, 1 Free and scoring 2 goals 1. For the Warriors it was Deja Vu in the votes with Tonga Bob (14 disposals, 6 tackles, 6 Frees, 1 goal 1) and pantskyle (3 hit-outs, 15 disposals, 3 tackles, 1 Free, 3 goals) continuing their form, this time in a win.

    1686813660266.png
This game didn't need a team coming from behind to make it a close contest, both teams shared moments to pile on the goals as the margin stayed close right through to the match. The second quarter saw the Furies use their burst of momentum to be in the lead over the next 2 quarters and was still managing to get in front even after the Old Boys got 13 points in front. Whether this effort took the energy out of the Furies outfit or not, Ophidian scored the 2 crucial goals in the last 4 minutes to score an upset win with Fleabane not only scoring the goal that got the Old Boys the lead but also the Performance of the Week, getting a total of 15 disposals, 10 tackles, 2 Frees and scoring 2 goals 1. The Furies finished their season on a strong note though, with both James Colorado (25 disposals, 6 tackles, 4 Frees) and crazywildhorse (21 disposals, 5 marks, 1 tackle, 1 Free, 3 goals) getting into the votes.

    Finals Week 3
  • It's down to 2 teams and 1 game. Let's see what happened in the Preliminary Finals that saw West Coast and Ophidian make the Season 35 Grand Final.

    1687425157418.png
How many leads can be blown within 1 game of qooty? It ended up being 3 as the Royals and Old Boys fought it out to see who could play the worst defensive game of the year with Ophidian being lucky enough to be the team in front at the final siren. First, it was Gold City blowing an 18-point lead halfway through the first quarter, with the Old Boys getting 20 in front close to Half-Time. The 3rd quarter saw both teams hold 23+ point margins with Ophidian spending the last 8 minutes of the game trying to not throw away their chance to get to the team's first Grand Final. Of the players in the match that could hold onto the ball, CakeEater was the Performance of the Round with 18 disposals, 10 tackles, 3 Frees and 2 goals 2. Old Boys Elton Johns Wig (15 hit-outs, 18 disposals, 10 tackles, 2 Frees, 1 goal) and Fleabane (18 disposals, 9 tackles, 1 Free, 1 goal) had some good form going into the Grand Final as Ophidian goes for a maiden premiership.

    1687425206240.png
The Warriors will be kicking themselves for once again being asleep at the start of a finals match, except this time it had some consequences. With the second chance used up and the comeback falling short, the Wonders ended the minor premiers' season and now have a chance to win the premiership and break a 14-season drought. Coney Island was being threatened with a blow-out with the margin getting to 55 points close to the Half-Time break but a 6-goal to 2 3rd quarter saw some fans believe the dream of a first Grand Final was still alive. However, the Warriors never got within 3 goals of the lead and didn't make the votes as Grand Uncle Horace got the 3-votes with his 18 disposals, 5 tackles, 5 Free, 2 goals 1 game and was backed up by the likes of Frothies Mcveigh (3 goals 2 from 5 kicks and 2 tackles) and HARPSichord (25 disposals, 6 marks, 1 tackle, 2 goals).

Now there's only 1 game remaining with all to play for. Let's have a look at who can win the Finals MVP out of the Wonders and the Old Boys.
    1687426225552.png

With votes from the Grand Final getting the 1.5 multiplier, whoever is deemed Best-on-Ground will get 4.5 votes, with the 3 votes going to 2nd place. This means that only those who already have votes in the bank can win from here. Should they read this, they now know what is required of them and it's all down to this to determine who will be the Finals MVP.

    Grand Final
  • The season is now fully won and done so it's time to see who was the best during both the finals and the Grand Final

    1688078414781.png
For 3 quarters of the game, the story stayed the same. The Wonders would build a lead, the Old Boys would get back to within a goal, and over and over West Coast would make Ophidian play catch-up in a game to see who had the energy to play all 4 quarters as the rain came pouring down. The answer to that question came late in the last quarter when Elton Johns Wig kicked what would be the winning goal and the Old Boys' biggest lead for the whole game. croweater 41 got the Wonders within winning distance and it became a mad dash to see which 50-metre arc the ball would be locked in. After a tight tussle reminiscent of the whole game, Ophidian got the ball down their end after a couple of West Coast errors to secure the win and their inaugural Premiership which I can't believe they got so quickly. Both EJW and croweater got into the Mobbs Predictor votes alongside getting the last 2 goals of Season 35; EJW's 14 hit-outs, 16 disposals, 3 marks, 1 tackle and 1 goal and croweater's 4 goals from 4 kicks, 1 mark, 1 tackle and 1 Free enough to beat most players in the game. However, there was one person whose stats outshone all others with Fleabane getting the 4 and a half votes with 18 disposals, 6 tackles, 1 Free and scoring 2 goals 1 being enough to jump to first on the Finals Leader-Board.

Thank You if you have followed along with this for this long, I am surprised no one has complained about me posting absolute drivel for the entire season, congrats to both Fridge and Fleabane for taking out the awards and I guess this has been popular enough that this will probably happen again next season.

Until then, I suppose I'll se you around.
