Mobile phones at the tennis

Went to the tennis yesterday and found it amazing how so many mobile phones went off during a match in progress.There was even 1 guy who answered his phone and proceeded to have a full blown conversation during a point and was talking quite loudly.Are these people really that thick that they dont know the rules about having phones on at the tennis?

It really is about time companies employed the use of technology that kills all mobile phone signals within a given range, say within cinemas, theatres, etc.

Unbelievable! I wouldave grabbed the phone off him and chucked it out of the court/arena!

i went yesterday and this guys phone started ringing on match point!!! think he turned it off? no! he didnt even answer he just let it ring out it was the most annoying ring tone as well

i remember watching a tennis match at the oz open when a phone rang....it was one of the players who had left his in his tennis bag - very funny

Maybe a bit harsh, but if you're phone rings, I think it is quite fair to evict the person.

Well, 36 players on the field at one time compared to 2 to 4, a much bigger space and of course the fact that their are many more people at a footy game then the small area of a tennis court. The chair ump has to be able to hear lets compared to footy where it is such a big field that it is a lot easier to concentrate even with the crowd's noise.

What the? Are u guyz on glue? Tennis is completely different to football. Why dont we just have morons yelling out at the golf, during the competitors' back-swings, too?!

I thought the lets were called by a little machine that vibrates in the umpire's hand?

You obviously don't know the game well.

Tennis is played in a much more confined space and is a sport which requires a hell of a lot more concentration than football.
