hes worked hard over the last couple of weeks and this sort of game shouldnt go unrewarded he deserves a game

???

You don't include marks in touches. They are just a way of getting a touch. He didn't have 67, he had 53/54 (now heard both figures mentioned).

But yes, sounds like it was a good performance, and hopefully he'll get a run!

Tim Schmidt had 63 disposals a few years back and still didn't get a game in the seniors the next week. The coaching staff will look at the disposals in context (example Brian Lake got 41 disposals yesterday for the Bulldogs and I doubt most of those were contested) and make a decision from there.

We can't look at the simple numbers, we need to brake them down first before passing judgement.

??? It would be up to the coaching staff to 'break' them down and pass judgement as to whether he deserves a spot, not us supporters. As for having an opinion, I believe there are better players to come in.

The reason MOD gets the ball so much at reserves level is that he works his backside off. He hasn't consistently been getting quite this many possessions, but I doubt he's had many games under 30 (apart from one week where he was tagged tightly by Robert Shirley). His ball usage is sometimes suspect but I think his kicking has genuinely improved over the past two years and some of his delivery by foot is exquisite at times. he is also an extremely good overhead mark for someone of his height, and his tackling / pressure work has also improved markedly since he arrived at the club.

Given work rate has been an issue for the seniors over the past couple of weeks, especially, I think he deserves a go. Looks like we will lose a runner (Kennelly) for next week's game and I think he is the most obvious replacement to come in, unless McGlynn has kept his fitness up to a level where he can slot straight back in.

In the seniors he's exceeded expectations in the past. Gives the opposition something to worry about which should help Jetta and maybe Rohan too.

Let's not get carried away. MOD's never had a problem finding the football, it's how he uses it under pressure. I'd really like to see him consistently finding targets under pressure before he gets another game. If he's doing that then I say we bring him in for Jetta who also needs to work on his disposal.

A WHOPPING 67-possession game from Sydney Swans reserves midfielder Matt O'Dwyer helped his team to a 63-point win over Belconnen at Manuka Oval yesterday.

O'Dwyer was a key in Swans victory, racking up 53 disposals, 14 marks and a goal which should earn him a spot in the seniors team next week when Sydney take on Hawthorn at the MCG.

Didn't get much of it but what he did i thought he did really well. Some good knock ons and hard ball won in close (which isn't really his strong point). But pretty good disposal and some hard running too. I hope he stays in the side, with a few seniors games under his belt, he will become a good contributor to our side.

I like this guy a lot and hope he gets a run cause he would be valuable to another side who can offer him more game time.

I had 3 big concerns about O'Dwyer: that stupid moustache, his disposal quality, and whether he was prepared to run and chase without the ball. Was very happy yesterday, the moustache was gone and I was really impressed by his efforts to apply pressure and harass the Hawthorn ball carriers. Would be happy for him to stay in the side for a bit longer, even though he had a very quiet day offensively.

Don't forget the long sleeves

Yes, it's great to see the long sleeved jumper make a comeback. Who was the last swan to wear one regularly? Brad Seymour?

Orchard, Bayes, Ahmat are also players I can recall wearing one.

I also have memories of both ROK and Goodes occasionally donning the long sleeves but not sure if that is my mind playing tricks on me.

Schneids in the early days wore one fairly often.

I really like O'Dwyer. He's just a player that seems to have superb awareness and peripheral vision, the ability to dodge and weave through traffic from a standing start, and knows how to read the field (so to speak) when he's got the ball in his hands. He just seems like a natural footballer. Reminds me of Schneider in this respect. That same, slightly elusive, slippery ability. He's different in other respects, of course.

He'll never be a superstar, but he'll be one of those players that just adds an extra dimension when the ball is in dispute and brings other players into the game. This is of course if he ends up making it, but I really hope he is persevered with (and he has sorted out the "off-field stuff" that Roos alluded to late last year).
