Yes , his faults at Pa that meant he failed to develop from u18 continued , sad but true. Would love to be made an egg of and he come out and get 32 possies and slay them , go on and make my day I'm talkin AFL too, not b grade Amos

Oh god, have we learnt nothing. Trying to turn player X into something he isn't. A tagger is a role a player can play but they also need to be able to do other things such as find the footy themselves, something Moore seemed to struggle with at SANFL and now VFL.

Next we will be trying Morris as a defensive forward........

Gunna disagree here. IN the few games Townsend has played for GWS he has had tagging roles against some of the bigger inside mids in the comp and done damn well when given the role.
I am actually scratching my head here and wondering why they have not at least tried him as a tagger.
Go look at some of the jobs he has done on Watson and kennedy for starters.
I actually think this kid has a bit to offer in certin areas giving up on him after just a few games with us is a tad premature and impatient imo.

Agree. Townsend has the proven record of shutting down the likes of Fyfe, Dangerfeild, Selwood, Murphy, Cotchin and Watson. I just wish he would be allowed to play that role at RFC.

Mate watch his lack of will playing in the 2s ...low level intensity for a player that should be a leader considering his age/experience

There's a player there somewhere. I can't recall a player who's form differs so much from reserves to AFL. In the SANFL he could dominate games, would win his own ball, had pace to break lines, good skill and was a lovely set shot. Gets the call up and it was like he'd forget how to play. If you could put Matt Thomas aggression into him you'd have a very good player. Hope he gets an extended chance with you guys.

Port have tried it, it doesn't work. He doesn't have the intensity or the concentration for the role. Better off trying Townsend, he's a little niggly campaigner so at the very least he'll annoy whoever he's playing on.
