What happened to Moore? He was averaging 2 contested marks a game last year. Not sure what he is averaging this year, but just hasn't appeared like the same player.

Seems like he has crumbled under the weight of expectation.
What? He's significantly better than what he was last year, and is taking the number 1 defender each week. Has grown another 4 cms this year and his ruck work is probably better than Grundy's.

Another classic example of a young player coming in playing good football early on and somehow expected to be elite in his second or third year.

In my defence I was referring to his first 10 odd games. I have not watched a lot of Collingwood since round 10. He just looking at his stats he clearly is performing a lot better over the last 6 odd games compared to his first 10.

FWIW, I wasn't trying to offend in anyway. We all do it. My point was every young player that starts off well and has a poor patch of form at some stage has the same "what happened to them" question bandied around. We had it with Mayes, Taylor, Aish, Schache etc etc.

Hipwood has something that Joey doesn't have. Insane speed. I read an article today that said he clocked the fastest in-game speed recorded by any current AFL player. Joey definitely has him covered in contested marking and set shot kicking though. Different players I guess
Does hipwood kick it sideways or something???

Hipwood is miles ahead of these guys, already a damaging player and hasn't even reached half of his max potential.
Over the past 8 games:
Curnow, 15.9 disposals, 7 marks (2 contested), 3 tackles, 1.38 goals.
Hipwood, 8.5 disposals, 3 marks (1 contested), 0.75 tackles, 1.88 goals.

Not sure how you define "miles ahead", but pretty evident Curnow's ahead at this stage. Dermie rates him the best young prospect in the game, Gerald Healy is a massive wrap for him. He's a chance to win the RS if his form continues (odds shortening by the week), way ahead of Hipwood in every statistic bar goals (and he's evened that up dramatically in recent weeks), performing better in pretty much every metric (AFL Ratings, Champions Data).

Anybody who's watched him play will know why he's regarded as Carlton's best young prospect alongside Cripps. Incredible athlete and elite endurance. Strong hands and can launch the footy.

Hipwood's also a great prospect. Where they finish up is anybody's guess but Curnow is clearly the best performed of the two at this stage of their careers.

Not dissing Curnow, watched him a bit before he was drafted and highly rated him.

It's still very early days, I just called it as I see it - my mind is open to change and change it may very well do :)

NOTE: Best not to tell a Bomber supporter what either Dermie or Gerald Healy think, lol.

Curnow is stronger, runs harder, has a bigger tank and cleaner hands than hipwood. Hipwood sort of makes up for that with the freakish goals he kicks every week and his burst of speed. When he's running full tilt there's not a player in the comp that can catch him. Both have their strengths and weaknesses and it will be interesting to see how both develop

Daniher is a good set shot most of the time and hes got a lovely kicking action. Hipwood tends to spray his set shots a bit too often, he's better on the run from 50
Hippy kicked 28 goals 15 points thus far this year. Think that's pretty good unless you have something else in the way of facts that can argue his kicking is OK.

Hipwood is the most exciting talent, could be the next Buddy. Curnow is a more true footballer with a great athletic ability. Jury still out on Moore, needs to find confidence before being compared to the other two. Could be anything.

Curnow will surely end up a mid if he can build the tank for it (which I think he can).

Hipwood will be the best forward in the comp down the line. His disposal count isn't a worry. Comparing it against Buddy, he is only 3 disp ave under him and they're obviously similar players. Very close in goal ave as well.

Moore will be good, but not elite like Hipwood.

Curnow had the tank already when he was drafted, its his biggest strength.

Curnow is clearly more physically developed (fitness wise and strength wise). I think that suggests Hipwood has the greater scope for improvement.

I am a bit more conservative with Hipwood though. I worry he is getting built up too much. He has the tools to be one of the best forwards in the comp, but he still has a lot of development required to get there; which isn't guaranteed to happen.

He recently had an interview on fox where he was compared to buddy and he responded saying he is wanting to take bits out of all the best key fowards (not just buddy) and that he wants to be Eric Hipwood out there, not someone else. I thought that was a great attitude.

Most forwards reach their peak in their mid 20s; he's got a great attitude and is already playing good footy, nothing to worry about with Hipwood.
