every chance you get to advertise your sites, you jump right in. Bluey doesn't need help to moderate these boards, he does a good job on his own, as long as people email him if there is something too over the top.

sandie i didn't type the post as an excuse to advertise my sites.

it was a legitimate suggestion.

It's not like I am jealous of Bluey and trying to steal visitors or whatever. He deserves all the hits the site has. For goodness sake, I have only posted about 50 times on here (other username too). And I probably haven't used my signature all the time.

Get over it. It is almost enough to drive me away from this site altogether, because THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN FOOTY. I agree with Alf Andrews variation post in that soccer sux topic. The game is not the same.

I don't read every post. I rely in part on people e-mailing me if they find anything that is beyond the pale. I have a few people who have offered to be moderators, and soon I'll be selecting a couple of them.

Bluey
I hope one of the moderators you select isn't G4E.

Could you imagine what he'd allow on the site.

Alot Arch!

Can I Moderate The Pies Forum Even Thougth None Of Us Use It!

I have been here since January (Other Nickname Magpiera)!

I agree with Arch. How can you be sure that your personal safety and anonymity is secure?
I am always careful how much personal information is known about myself.
What will these moderators have access to?

Your Ip Log!

And then if they are really good at computers then they can get a trace on that ip address! Scary Hey?

Moderators have the ability ONLY to edit posts, lock threads or delete posts and threads. They do not have access to any personal information - that information is available to me only.

They do not have access to IP addresses. That privilege is reserved for me at an Administrator level.

Then What Does This Say Bluey?

Only forum leaders (BigFooty Administrator, BigFooty Moderator) may perform this function.

Looks Like ALot Ppl Have Something To Worry ABout Too Me!

I think you lot are getting a little bit carried away. Bluey hasn't selected these people willy nilly. He has standards to uphold, very high ones at that.

They are both long time members of BigFooty and have demonstrated that they are not psychopaths IMO.

Moderators powers are much much less than Administrators. As Bluey said they can edit, lock and delete posts. Other than that they can really only report to Bluey and he would then look deeper into it.

I also trust Bluey not to pass on the information I have already freely given to him when I registered. If I didn't trust him that way then the additional moderator issue is irrelevant.

Mags

It's time to call your bluff.

One of the problems with the internet is that most people using it are computer users, not experts. With all the hype and bullshit surrounding the internet it's very easy for dickheads like Mags to spout forth bullshit and make people nervous.

Mags no more knows your IP number or ISP than I do and I assure you that I don't know and can't find out.

Time to stop the bullshit Mags. I have no problems with people knowing my ISP or the IP address that I'm using. So the challenge to you Mags, is to tell us all what those details are - and any other info about me that you can devine with your snale oil.

If you can't put up - shut up.

I think his question is along the lines of 'why do moderators comment and then lock threads, not allowing a poster the right of reply?'

The answer as I see it is that moderators have neither the time or the inclination to get involved in slanging matches with posters over whether a thread has gone off track or not. Moderators have the last comment usually to say that the thread is no longer viable, so why would they leave it open for others to argue that point?

If a thread has degenerated, say so and lock it. Pretty simple really. It might irk those that feel like they have to win every verbal joust they are in but they will get over it.

And in some cases it is perceived as a power trip, when in reality the mod just has too much to deal with and is running low on patience.
