With so many people going down each week do you think we should get more trades as the game is more fast paced and leading to more players likely to go down hurt ?

Fox sports has a new thing this year called Wildcard where you can make as many changes as u like in that in one week but once you used it thats it you cant use it again could be good for DT instead of giving us more trades

thoughts ?

No. Injuries tend to even out during a year. 20 trades is more than enough.

The only thing that has to change is people's perception that they deserve a perfect team every round. I'll be honest, 60% of the time you're not gonna have your strongest 22. That's what EMGs are for. Make sure your team peaks in the last 1/3 of the season, keep a few trades in hand for when Didak goes drinking alate season or Bartel/Corey decide they've won the Brownlow already and want a rest in round 22, and you'll be fine.

the wildcard system would seriously piss me off. Whats the point of doing months of research to make sure you have the best players in your team, only for the crappy coaches to wait for a couple of rounds to pass before they set their side up with the best cash cows, keepers and mid pricers.

Would be totally pointless and everyone would have a very similar team

Hate the idea.

Yeah, keep it how it is. No need to change it because there have been a couple of injuries in round one.

Not sure what you mean by "so many people going down each week", when there's only been one round.

thats over the off season and pre-season as well And its only coming up to round 2 thats alot very long list to start round 2 players are going left , right , centre

do you think we should get more trades?
No.
DT used to have a system where you could trade during one week after round 11 or something.
I think an interesting concept would be to allow post-lockout trading after, say, Round 15, by having a separate lockout for each individual match. I think that'd be interesting.

It's not that much worse than usual. It only seems worse because I'm guessing you have Raines and Anthony.

No need to change the rules of the game just because there have been some injuries in the off season, which should really have nothing to do with anyones team anyway.

How do players being injured before the season starts affect trades?

Also, not all of those are from the off season, pre season or round 1. A few happened last year, and a few have had recurring injuries.

Dreamteam's not meant to be easy mate... injuries are part of the game, so when selecting players, look for those players that have a history of good durability.

Do you have Kornes or Drummond?

Dream Team has become easy enough as it is

5000+ people scoring over 2000 in the first round of the season. Come on

I'd be happy to see less trades and reduced salary cap

salary cap is up, and so are the scores. with the likes of ablett having close to the highest average last year in the 110's, this year in round 1, i think i counted 13-15 people break the 120 barrier !!

i think this is much higher than normal, and must be just how the game is improving. plenty of others broke the 100 as well. 110 might be the new 100 for this year, with zones and teams trying to get around them, we might see more possessions, marks and tackles from players pushing scores up.

will be interesting to see round 2.

The DT scores certainly were a lot higher this week (around 4% higher than last year), but this doesn't mean the game is improving. It means changing. Some will argue that the day of chipping the ball in the backlines is not improving. Great for DT, but bloody boring to watch.

my bad, too early to be typing before i've had my morning coffee, that was meant to be evolving, not improving. i like watching the fast running rebounding games...but as you pointed out, some very boring stuff comes with it. i miss the the hard one on one contested footy. but that is for another thread

I watched 5 games of footy over the weekend, and none of them were boring, none of them were chipping the ball around from side to side. Most of the sides played a hard running, free flowing gamestyle. Maybe the skills of the players have increased, resulting in less loose ball and a higher % of time that someone is scoring? I think this can also be attributed to the rolling zone, it hasn't seemed to confined teams to ugly football, they seem to take the game on more than anything. The zone actually increases DT scores because it's not 1 on 1 so you see more uncontested ball.

Anything to make DT easier is a bad move.

Correct. It needs to stay as a game of skill, with a little bit of luck (injuries etc).

What about this concept? Bear with me, I hope I explain this well enough to understand....

Why not introduce a Long Term Injury (LTI) for Fantasy Football.

EG.

You still have your 20 trades each year, 2per week MAX, BUT you have 2 LTI's.

If you use a LTI, that would count for your max 2 trades in a week.

So Raines is injured. You could use one of your LTI's, BUT...

This trade only last 8 weeks, at the end of the 8 weeks, you automatically get Raines back and lose the player you trade in.

You could also make the incoming LTI trade a compulsory Rookie or player under 120k who has yet to have a price change (played 2 games or less)

If your rookie that you trade in goes up by 100k in the time that you have them it wont matter, they are not cash cows that you can trade out to make a profit, they are there to cover for an injury and have only been promoted to your squad until your player returns or the 8 weeks is up (whichever comes first)

I know this might not suit may but any thought's or changes would be appreciated, it makes for interesting discussion at least.

Got idea still got my beanie, but IMO its too complex. Think about the people who cank 100-150k. They would probably struggle to remember and keep a track, and understand the ideas associated with this idea.

so?? most of those injuries were well known well before lockout. if you pick a team without checking the injury list your a fool and deserve to run out of trades.
