Morrell vs Whitnall

Been talking to a Carlton supporting mate of mine that said Morrell should be de-listed and when I responded with something like Morrell is twice the player of Whitnall he got all defensive.

So the question - who would you have in your team NOW - not previously.

whoever your m8 is obviously hasn't seen much footy ...

digby is more than serviceable up fwd and been great down back ...

he had 9 touches and something like 6 inside 50's against the pies in rd 22 third qtr ...

lance has a bigger upside, but for consistent performance, durability and effort anyone would be stupid to lose diggers ...

there is more chance of chris judd playing for us next yr than diggers being delisted and id say lance will get traded (hopefully for something good!!).


there will always be ppl who comment without knowing much of the fact, my aunty still bitches how we got rid of mark porter (i laugh), and my grandfather complains about kouta constantly (he thought he missed half of 2003 when he played all 22 games!!!).

ur mate is a fool. Blind Freddy knows Whitnal can play but only when fit and not eating. Diggers will be around for a little while yet. Absolutely useless early on at the blues but after being sent into defence he found his legs and cofidence. Did some really good things late in the year. To answer your question though I would have both now. Our forward line without whits isnt potent enough. Not because he does anything but the fact that he commands a good defender on the off chance he does pull a blinder outa his arse and thus freeing others in the forward region up a bit. Id keep diggers down back given the lack of muscle and height we have at present.

Whitnall's best is far far better than Diggers but after an ordinary first half of the season, Diggers had a fantastic second half of the year, reinventing himself as a defender and providing the occasional option up forward. Lance had a dog of a season. Diggers should not be delisted based on this season.

Don't know whether you win the bet or not. Lance is more talented, Diggers had the better season. Best of luck.

Any one who knocks Morrell has little or no understanding about our great game.He honest as the day is long and gets my vote with no regrets.
On Lance though we need to talk him up guys ,cos if we keep bagging him all we may get as a trade is a hack like Richo or Mckernan.

On a serious note I know a couple of guys that grew up with lance and although from one of the coaching staff "lance cannot do anymore on the track" ,it`s what he does away from the club thats the worry.
Eats hamburgers all day at a Heidelberg hotel and when its time to have a drink he gets a slab OF UDL CANS.

A change is what would be best for both lance and carlton because he has ability galore and may/will find it elsewhere .
!`d be happy with Joel Bowden .
