Most Improved 2007

I know I'll be disagreed with but I think he's too good for the BP.
His awareness is lacking, but I think he could be taught to be a very good wing/HBF. He is very quick (He'd be the quickest at the club I'd say after Flash, it just doesn't look that way due to his poor peripheral vision) and has very good disposal, is big and strong and a good mark. Possibly an Embley type role but spends time on the HBF as well.
I actually thought he'd end up as our no.1 tagger before Bartram came along.

Interesting comparison though - Bartram has no business putting that body out on a football field yet adjusted to the game within a few weeks to play 22 rounds.

Jones and Bate have shown they don't take a backwards step and look at home on the ground.

McLean is close to our best player already.

All four of those guys are natural footballers, as far as they know the game very, very well. And none of them are as physically developed as Bell or Col.

Bell and Col, just seem like they aren't fast enough in the mind to play midfield yet.

Bell has always had a perfect football body but he doesn't use it to his advantage. He should be going hard into the packs and coming out with the ball regularly. He's also very quick but barely uses it except when he's a defender and his opponent is quick on the lead...Bell normally catches up.

I can't see the harm in giving him a crack in the middle come NAB cup time but we may already have enough youngsters to groom into midfield positions while Bell can aim to be as good if not better than Whelan.

I can't see Bell cracking a spot in the midfield, I think he is going to be best suited as a defensive player.

Sylvia on the other hand, is a natural midfielder and should be given more opportunities to play there. Us fans have been waiting for a long time to see the Holy Trinity of Moloney, McLean and Sylvia all smashing skulls at the one time.

I think it will be Sylvia or Bell, who both looked like they were taking steps forward at the end of this year.

If Sylvia stays fit and Daniher gives him time on ball, he'll be a superstar (I've said that for the last 2 years though :o)

Bell impressed me towards the end of the year and seemed to be one of your better players in the finals, which suggests to me that he's capable of playing midfield, at least in bursts.

Dunn for me.
Showed heaps in the games he did play, including the ability to kick goals, a precious commodity for a big bloke.
Only needs to find the aggro that was spoken about prior to him being drafted, to be a real package.

Aggressive in juniors was he?

Early predictions,

I think it will be one of -

Paul Johnson
Daniel Bell
Michael Newton

My tip at this stage would be Paul Johnson, had no luck with no injuries last year but will be a force to be reckoned with in 2007. Incredibly mobile for a big man, great on the ground and his tapwork is improving all the time. I can see him taking over the No.1 mantle from Whitey in late 2007/early 2008.
Two out of three wasn't bad. :thumbsu:

Bell and Newton were great calls, but then again Newton was tearing up the VFL 2's last year so had to step up. Wish that PJ was most improved and was pressing to take over from Jeff White, unfortunately he didn't, he showed so much in a range of positions but nothing to get excited about.

1/2 for me.
Not a bad effort, Belly was probably our most improved player but yet again Sylvia showed bits and pieces.
Gee I hope he improves next year and stays fit.
