Carlton
At the end of a season with lots of disappointments, I'm curious to know who people think is Carlton's most improved player this season.

We've seen some successful role changes such as Walker and Simpson to the back line and Henderson to the forward line, Curnow has become a valuable tagger and improved as an athlete and footballer. Bryce Gibbs has had what many consider his best season to date. Then there is Zach Tuohy who has played the same role but continued to improve beyond everyone's expectations, Brock McLean's continued improvement and reinvention as a footballer, and young Tom Bell who is getting better every game.

What do y'all think?

Also, who do we think has gone backwards the most in the team?

(Hope I haven't forgotten anyone!)

Chose Tuohy but was hard pressed to choose between he and Curnow. .. Watto could of been on the list but maybe a 'other' category would have worked. ..

The rest on your list have had good years and maybe Brock could be up there on improvement but the others are only slightly improved at best. ..

Tuohy by plenty. Has found a nice balance of defense and attack, uses his pace, developed a genuine weapon that other teams need to be mindful of in that long range bomb. If he can get his hands on it another 4-5 times a game he would be in the first half dozen picked.

I believe our most improved player is Ed Curnow.
Takes the oppositions best midfielder week in, week out.
Has improved his disposal effiency, even though he has very awkward kicking style.
Runs both ways, and can pop up with one or two goals.
If not for Walker or Simmo, would come close in winning our B&F I believe.

He's Sri Lankan, like me :)

Chose Tuohy, but massive props to Curnow. It's clear that he's gone away and worked on his goalkicking and composure after the big miss against Hawthorn, and it's great to see a player identify a weakness in their game and put in the work to successfully rectify it. If the rest of the team follows his lead there will be good times ahead.

Totally on the Tuohy & Curnow bandwagon. Just wait until Zac starts getting 20 possie games regularly - he is the epitome of the kind of player I love watching. Ed, much maligned for his disposal and decision making (who can forget the loopy handballs of 2012) is now probably one of the most reliable disposals in our team. Oh, and he's gained a yard of pace too.

Curnow has gone from fringe/outside best 21 to guaranteed onballer. Tick.

Tuohy is hot on the heels of Pearce Hanley and Tadgh Kenelly. Tick

Hendo is a rock solid 8/10 KPD and a versatile swingman. Tick

Watson showed glimpses. Hopes are still alive that he can follow Tom Lonergan, Ted Richards, Zac Dawson etc etc as maturing KPD's. Tick

Quite a few slid backwards too this year...but hey....

Curnow and Tuohy clear standouts. Hovered over both but went Curnow simply because his position in the side was the most fragile after last year. Has become more of a ball winner and one of the better run with guys in the comp.

Yeah I agree Tuohy and Curnow were tough to choose between, but I chose Curnow based on the fact that his improvement seemed to have come out of nowhere. Tuohy has been getting better for a while now.

Not sure if it is possible to add more answers to the question?

Ed is obviously as dedicated as any on our list and his off the charts endurance aside he seems to have been working hard on other areas...looks to have picked up a yard of pace (ran away from a chasing Stanton a coupe of weeks back) and his disposal is at least steady now rather than poor.

Contested marking and evading tackles has really surprised me in the second half of the season. Not sure if they're things he's worked on or if it's just come from confidence but it's great to see.

More strength in his shoulder would help in both those areas.
