Hi guys, I recently joined bigfooty. Have been reading your posts for a couple of years now, thought i would join in. This is my first go at a mock draft. Hope you have some feedback.

  1. David Swallow (GC) The first 3 are pretty much set in stone. No need for explanations here.
  2. Harley Bennell (GC)
  3. Sam Day (GC)
4. Dyson Heppell (WC) The next 3 can go either way. All quality midfielders. WC, BL, and RICH would be happy with any of them. Heppell can also play back, which might sway WC who I think are a bit light on for quality defenders.
5. Andrew Gaff (BL) The Lions will like the fact that Gaff is a ready made midfielder and should play AFL most of next year.
6. Jared Polec (RICH) Polec is very quick and skillful which is exactly what the Tigers want and need. The Tigers also have a lot of faith in young KPF’s Post and Griffiths; otherwise they might have taken Lynch here.
7. Josh Caddy (GC) Midfielder. Very classy player, next best in the draft IMO. Could slide as low as pick 11.
8. Shaun Atley (ESS) A few people have the Bombers taking Gorringe or Lynch here. Surely they need another quality midfielder to back up Stanton and Watson.
9. Daniel Gorringe (GC) With 8 picks in the top 13, GC has enough choices to fill in the KP’s having already taken best available with their first 3 picks. Will take the best ruck in the draft here, then KPF, small forward and KPB with their next picks.
10. Tom Lynch (GC) Another good KPF to go with Day. Enormous potential. Similar style to Nick Riewoldt.
11. Jed Lamb (GC) HF/midfielder who knows where the goals are. Very smart player. GC will need a talented small forward. I seem to have him a lot higher than most.
12. Jack Darling (MELB) Need another key forward to go with Watts. Didn’t have the best year but will still be a very good player.
13. Matthew Watson (GC) Will need a key defender to help out Bock.
14. Brodie Smith (ADEL) Midfielder to fill the hole left by Mcleod, Goodwin and Edwards. Nearly everyone has put Smith here. Totally agree. Crows fans seem very happy too.
15. Patrick McCarthy (GEEL) Key defender to replace Scarlette in a few years. Could also take Darling to replace Mooney if he slides.
16. Kieran Harper (PORT) Midfielder. Has plenty of class and X-factor. Port have a good mix of young players so I think they will pick the best available here.
17. Jayden Pitt (NM) Excellent kick. Reads the play well. NM to take best available player left here.
18. Billie Smedts (CARL) Very versatile player. Mainly a defender which is what the blues need. The Blues would love Watson or McCarthy to slide.
19. Isaac Smith (HAW) Great pace and good skills. Will fit in well at Hawthorn. Same as the Blues, the Hawks would love a KPB to slide but it won’t happen.
20. Lucas Cook (FREO) KPF. Would really like a player like Cook so Pavlich could spend even more time up the ground.
21. Luke Parker (SYD) Midfielder. Good clearance player to take over from Kirk and Jude Bolten in the future.
22. Mitch Wallis (WB) Father/Son. One of two F/S picks that the Bulldogs will be very happy to get with only using mid-range picks.
23. Ben Jacobs (GEEL) HB/Midfielder. With Milburn and Corey getting on a bit, Jacobs would be a very handy replacement who can play half back or in the midfield.
24. Scott Lycett (STK) Ruck/KPF. The Saints will need another ruck coming through with King and Pattison gone, and Gardiner close to the end of his career also. I’m hoping Lycett will go to the Tigers at pick 29. Looks like he could dominate in a few years.
25. Dion Prestia (BL) HF/Midfielder who is a quick and silky player similar to David Rodan. Exactly what the lions need with the departures of Brennan, Sherman and Rischitelli.
