Just saw the Viney incident again in full speed during the pre-match show. I've seen it so often in super slow-mo that I'd forgotten how innocuous it looked in real life. Glad he got off.

Zac Clarke offered a reprimand. For what I don't know, lifting his arm up in the vicinity of SJ apparently.

Zac Clarke, Fremantle, has been charged with a Level Two striking offence (125 demerit points, one-match sanction) for striking Steve Johnson, Geelong, during the second quarter of the round nine match between Fremantle and Geelong, played at Patersons Stadium on Saturday May 17, 2014.

In summary, his one-match sanction can be reduced to a reprimand and 93.75 demerit points towards his future record with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Geelong Football Club, the incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One Offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 demerit points towards his future record.

Good call.

As was the Clarke, (come on people he elbowed him in the head, that is always going to go), and the SJ suspension.
Clarke was in trouble from the get go, but it was made to look a lot worse by Stevie J's antics rolling around on the ground.

Pretty cr@ppy luck. Looked like he accidentally caught SJ in the throat instead of the chest (which is what I reckon he was aiming for, but didn't account for SJ's relative stumpiness). His reaction afterwards is a pretty clear sign that there was virtually zero intent to harm.

If it'd been Hodge or someone I'm sure it would have been called insufficient force, or a legitimate attempt to shepherd, or some other creative interpretation. No such luck for us.

Even the fact that they've called it reckless... whereas Gibson's rabbit-punch elbow to the back of Conca's head got negligent. Just so f*ckin' inconsistent.

Wasn't his head. Was his neck. Still considered high though, so same result.

Unlucky with the point of contact. Don't believe that SJ was making as much of a meal of it as others have suggested... I'd say that because of where it landed it would have genuinely hurt. But utterly sh*t luck.

Exactly right, it can't have been anything except negligent and he was trying to give him a sharp little bump with his elbow as happens 100's of times a game. Whereas Johnson just lined up Barlows head

This is becoming so obvious now that it is not funny.

Having popped my ear drums a number of times in the past, I was just as disgusted with the ear slaps SJ was hitting Crowley with during one bit of push and shove... as with the elbow on Barlow. Nothing mentioned there either by the MRP. Some pretty creative misconduct there. If Balla had tried that on I'd guarantee he'd have gotten a reprimand for misconduct.

Lucky for SJ, there was so much other dodgy stuff that he did during the game that it was swamped amongst the tide of bastardry, and ignored.
