Much help needed choosing a camera

Bigfooty bretherins, I am in desperate need of help.

I'm moving to Canada in a month or so and need to buy a camera to capture everything and im a complete novice.

I'm after what I think is called just a 'Point and Shoot' digital camera. I have spent a fair amount of time trying to find a great camera but with so many to choose from I just have no idea where to focus on and whenever I read user reviews, some say that camera is great and some say it isnt.

Basically im after someone obviously more in the know than I who can recommend a slim/smallish camera that can be pocketed around that takes very high quality photos. I know it sounds stupid but I just really want the photos to come out great. Not too fussed about all these other shmancy features.

Willing to spend $250-$300 at most but obviously the cheaper the better.

I recently bought this Panasonic Lumix and I can't fault it.
14MP and 8x Optical zoom

VERY easy to use...

Thanks for that. I checked out he panasonic lumix range and found one that seems to be pretty good. I'm not sure which one you are specifically referring to because the link wasnt working for me but I think I found the same one.

Panasonic Lumix or Sony Cybershot should be fine

Make sure you get a 1-2 GB Memory Card, unless you want to take 30 photos...

Its the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH20.
You should be able to get it at the airport at F1rst duty free for $199.
