The worst news.

Not that bad MC. He'll only have 4 weeks off, and should be right for round 1, especially given that we are still more than two months away from the start of the H&A season. At least it's not OP, which had been rumoured for some time now.

We knew he was carrying some sort of groin/hip injury - Doesn't sound like it was OP if they can operate and have him ready by RD1 which is good.

This. Just glad its not op.

If he does play rnd 1 he might run out of steam towards the end of the game but at least it appears to be minor in the scheme of things.

Very happy it isn't op which is extremely hard to
overcome. We knew he was having issues, so this for me is a hell of a lot better news than if it was OP.

Murphy will be fine for R1 why is every1 worried, i know its abit of a set back but seriously there are still 2months and ahalf, it is a 1month setback soo he'll have 1month to get ready for R1

Hopefully Murph is right for Rd 1 but i hate these setbacks at this time of year as it allways has the player coming off the back foot from the start of the year and trying to then play catch up to obtain peak fitness and form.

Bad news for me and has ruined my day. :(

If he's ready to go for RD1, I wouldn't necessarily rush him back into the midfield. Maybe we could ease him back in on the fwd line for the first few rounds rather than the hard running required in the midfield.

Let's not get all hysterical just yet guys. It's only a 4 week injury, he'll have the surgery, and probably be back out on the track doing some light ball work after that. It would only be his fitness base that might suffer a little, but given all the running he has been doing, it shouldn't be that much of a set-back.

Fair enough, but wonder what the injury is, just a clean up or is it something more involved, love to know.

There is a silver lining. Murph was 1 I felt ran out of steam a bit toward the end of the season last year, perhaps a later start will see him struggle early for full match fitness but it may freshen him up and see him run out the season better.
