I voted Murphy for some reason.
Raines has been the most consistant but young players drop off. Thomas I think hasn't been consistant enough at this stage. Murphy has been consistant but still looks like he has more to give.
At this stage last year it was between Bradley and McLean, they dropped off considerably while Deledio and Griffen improved.

how old is raines now?

not taking away from him at all, and if he wins it congratulations to him and richmond.

That Thomas goes alright too.
I think that i the award was handed out now Thomas would win it but as "jabso" said this time last year the favorites were Bradley & McLean so it's too early to judge.
I don't believe that Thomas can play this well for the whole season but I believe that Murphy can go to another level.

Murphy after what he showed last night and Luke Darcy said he just has poise when he gets his hands on the balll. Kicked a more spectacular goal than Thomas after he ran with the flight of the ball and didn't take his eyes off it. Ran on to kick the goal from a tight angle with a brilliant shot from the pocket.

Dale who?

You missed teh accountable son of a gun down back for the Tiges last night? Suprised you could as he picked up 23 touches ;)

Getting better by the week, but doesnt get the hype or press that cheap-kick thomas does.

ATM Id have it Raines ahead of Murphy... but I havent seen this Rosa fella who has pretty big wraps too.

Who said I missed him?

Murphy is more deserving as a first year player straight out of the under 18s and he hasn't missed beat in his debut. If Raines wasn't the son of a gun he wouldn't even be getting this attention! :D

Raines is older than Walker so where's he been for the past 2 years?

The award conditions have nothing to do with first year players or 3rd year. As long as they are under a certain age and havent played more than 12 games at the beginning of the season they are eligable.

So now we both know Raines is eligable, but following your thinking it may have an impact on how the judges vote come season's end. But I have a feeling Raines is going to get better and better as the year goes on and most likely be the most consistent out of the options.

Developing, and it's paying off. We havent been too crash hot at developing players recently but we have some promising ones coming through in Hyde, Hartigan, Newman, Raines etc.. who were all taken as very late picks IIRC.

Well, I'd say Murphy at this stage, but only just. Thomas looks to have a lot of flair, but doesn't play an accountable game. I can see him being exploited moreso than Murphy as the season goes on.

Murphy has extremely good foot-skills. At West Coast, we have a lot of gun midfielders, but none of them kick very well to a lead. Murphy's kicks to Fevola have been outstanding. And how about that goal from the boundary last night; sensational!

As for Raines, I've seen him three times and he certainly looks to be a talent. I'm not sure if I'd have him with the other two yet, but when you see a young player going about it with so much confidence early on, you can be fairly sure they'll figure highly at the end.

Raines, plays the hard ball in the back line, and picks up the stats as well. They rest have been unaccountable stat collectors so far. With only Murphy so far having success.

Still 18 players yet to be nominated, far froma 4 horse race.
