What came of his mid-game walk out?

I take it he is getting delisted at year end?

No one outside the club is really sure. He was told to go away and get himself right, I had presumed he'd just hide away and do his own thing, but he was out one night a few weeks ago with Peter Worsfold and Naitanui doing something with the Red Cross. Giving out soup or something.

He may be delisted, or he may be given another season to get himself right, depending on what happens with his court case early next year.

It wouldn't surprise me either way.

Yeah its interesting he is just not playing any footy at the moment but is fulfilling club community requirements. Does anyone know if he is training with the team?

My understanding was that he was, at least initially, completely isolated from the football side of it. The club was acting as his support network, not so much as his employer.

Whether that turned out to be or is still the case I'm unsure.

From what i can tell he has been freaking out about the up coming court appearance and the ramifications that he is finding it hard to want to play football and maybe just needed some time off.

His contract is up this year and i think we should help him out and maybe sign him up for a year and get a mentor for him and get his s**t sorted. He has a lot of talent and is the sort of player we lack and if we can work it out i am sure he will be a good player for our team.

Very bad idea from someone who claims to always win:rolleyes:!

I'd hope they would give him one more year. He needs the support of the club if nothing else (plus we need to give ourselves the best opportunity to make the most of his obvious talent).

His matter is listed for another administrative hearing in September so it seems unlikely that it would go to trial before we'd have to make a decision on whether he gets a new contract.

I wonder if we might delist him but promise to pick him up as a rookie? That way we can keep him at the club with the right support, but not waste a senior list spot on him.

Can't think of any other clubs who have rookie listed their own first round draft pick.
It is a good idea. I hope the club consider it.

Dockers with Ryley Dunn.

Plenty of clubs have done it with players that are going through off-field stuff that will affect their ability to get on the park. Ramanauskas and Polak spring to mind.

I hope he can get his life sorted first. Still hold hope he can be a good footballer for us in the future.

I don't like how the club dealt with this issue at all. If a player walked out mid game of a AFL game- A BIG fnkn deal would be made about it. Although what happened was only WAFL level, the club has kept silent like nothing even happened, and no one has dared even question or investigated what the hell happened or why?

Not sure if WCE should keep Newman and if they do the suggestion to downgrade Newman to a rookie list makes good sense .

The walk out of the wafl game reason is lame and only a tragedy to family members or extended family should be excusable ..

The club got an explanation from Newman and decided the best course of action was to take him out of footy for a while - and not to put details of what he's going through in the public domain.

He's clearly going through some issues. I'm not sure how making a big frikken deal about it publicly will do anyone, least of all Newman, any good at all.

Reckon the club should stick with him. The guy obviously has talent, unfortunately this has really taken a toll on him. Every young player goes through this kind of phase. I remember when Masten and Schofield were going through the same kind of stuff that might have lead to something similar to what Newman is going through.

Given that he's been charged with GBH, one has to wonder what he actually did? Fivey is our resident lawyer, but from memory the definition of Grievous Bodily Harm is to intentionally cause severe injury..
Can anyone shed any light?
