have just heard the boys are leading in the last.
However, Ainley is convulsing on the ground and the game has been stopped as they don't want to move him. More to come.

Mark Ainley was accidently kicked in the head early on in the first quarter, from what I could see and hear from officials, he was put on the bench, then after 15-20 minutes started convulsing and bleeding from the mouth. He lapsed in and out of conciousness and after 30-40 minutes was finally taken to Box Hill hospital, being deemed serious, he was then taken to the Alfred Hospital.

I don't know the full extent of the injury, but obviously it's a serious head injury.

Seeing his mum and girlfriend standing nearby not knowing the extent of his injury made it even worse. Ricky O wasn't taking it too good either, sitting nearby shaking and trying to re-assure Mark he was ok.

Let's hope it's not as bad as we think and he recovers quickly.

When Ainners was on the ground with everyone around him was a real shocking sight. The worst thing that I have seen in footy.
I hope he is ok.
I plan to ring the club tommorow to find out.

*****A note to the scumbag profiteer photorapher if you publish one of those photos. expect a few bottles of soft drink over you and your equiptment, along with a few other things. You are the lowest form of scumbag Ive met for a while. Yes you have a wife and kids but he also has a family and a girlfriend, and I might add a few angry Roos fans as his supporters. No one rushed to your defence today you filthy animal and I doubt anyone would. It wont be to hard to find you your name will be on the photo if your as low as I think you are.

He's a photographer from the Herald Sun, blonde hair, big nose, he won't be hard to spot at the next game. His name escapes me at the moment, but I'll find it out.....scab

Quote from scumbag photographer after insisting we respect his right to take any photos that he deemed fit as he had a wife and kid to feed...."So what's that player's name anyway?"

Reply: nunyafukkenbizness, tosser!

He picked the wrong members to try & suck up to.

We were told by said tosser, not to be surprised if his prize winning photo of the backs of several officials crowding over an obscured player appeared on page one or page three of the Herald Sun tomorrow. I suspect the tragic death of two country footballers or even the Chubb security malarkey at Tullamarine may take precendence over your coverted page 3 shot of a VFL player with concussion.

I'm contemplating making a complaint to the VFL for letting a photographer on that side of the fence as I suspect that he had no right to be there. Its not the AFL and it wasn't the MCG.

Ainley.. get well soon, son!

The game itself was very entertaining (the Mark Ainley incident aside, of course)

The MKs had a real flow on in the second quarter and looked like putting Box Hill away - unfourtunately, after the stoppage in play they struggled to turn it back on again and the Hawks clawed their way back.

The last quarter was a real tussle - we missed several shots in the last few minutes that could have been the difference.

Shannon Watt played very well (taking Croad out of the game for the first three quarters) and Brady Rawlings is really starting to look the goods. Both should play for the ones next week.

Shannon Motlop was an interesting one. He was playing on Lord, who consistently dropped to full forward, taking Motlop out of the play. Motlop struggled in the one-on-one body strength contests and had several goals kicked against him. That said, in the last quarter, it was Motlop (on a different opponent) who set up most of the MK's scoring chances running out of defence.

Daniel Motlop looked much more at home than the last time I saw him (v Preston?) Still a way to go, but the kid has great skills and positively glides across the ground.

Jess Sinclair seemed to struggle to have much of an impact and Lindsay Smith showed only glimpses, although he took a couple of good ones in the last quarter. Digby Morell contested hard and really held the forward line together.

Corey Jones was outstanding, particularly in the first half, and should also return to the ones next week.

A loss, but a gallant one - these boys have lots of heart.

Thoughts and prayers with Mark and his family...

This creature must be taunted. He took the photo that appeared very early in the incident. but he has still made money from a Roos players missfortune and must have a few little accidents himself. I have not been this pissed off for a while.

Any thing you can find out about this scumbag les the roos world know.

Ok he has a job to take the photos but the atitude of this guy was disgusting. Lets smash you up and then take a photo of that and publish it.

He was just being a leach mate. The situation was very serious with the player in obvious extreme pain and he wasn't being very sympathetic. I guess he was just doing his job to a certain extent but the emotions were high and he wasn't being very tactful.

Would not have made 3rd page if not for the tragic deaths of the two country footballers as Michael Dodgeyc***t's photo appeared in conjunction with that article.

Very, very tacky.

Right-on Fruity. The HS will be hearing from me.

That's what I thought when I heard it was on page three.

Yeah fair enough the guy has a family to feed, but he can feed them just as well taking action shots of the game, like Leaping Lindsay's hanger... or aren't Dodgey's eyes and reflexes quick enough to capture moving targets?

I would have actually bought the paper had there been a picture of the hanger (because I didn't entirely see the mark)... instead I made sure I didn't buy it, in view of the circumstances surrounding Mark Ainley's situation.

Hey Darky, funny you should say that. Early on in the game before Michael Dodgey-C***nt pissed us off, I half felt compelled to point out number 38 to him & tell him to keep his focus high. But as Drexl pointed out, he was only ever sent there to get a shot of Croade for a nice Hawks puff piece. The HS clearly anticipated that 4 AFL games a weekend obviously amonts to a slow news Monday.

So anyway, a shot of Croade was published at the back. Real prize winning stuff too. Michael Dodgey-C**t didn't waste his time on getting an action shot of any of Croade's many possessions; the 8 kicks, 3 marks, 2 behinds (fact). ;)
He waited until the guy was stationary on the field and snapped him there.

Michael Dodge

Interesting to hear our friend Michael Dodge get a mention on Talking Footy last night.

He was the Einstein behind the Tigers' can-can dancing girls photo that graced the back of the Herald Sun earlier in the year which made the ferals the subject of ridicule & mockery.

When asked about it, Spuds Frawley was very sheepish indeed.

Interesting to note, I did a search on the dodgey b@stard's name under newsphotos.com.au and he was also the artiste' behind the 99GF shower scene photos that failed to obscure Matty Cap's knob. That photo makes me want to spew up.
