Hey guys,

Some mates and I (who are all musicians in separate projects, but come together on occasions to get drunk and play together) are talking about potentially spending about a week or so in Adelaide - via Robe - mid-year, to play as many gigs as possible and maybe have a busk somewhere like Rundle Mall.

The issue is.. we don't know any venues that we could contact. We're not particularly fussy (as I stated earlier, we play together for the fun and beer), but we don't really want to end up playing in pubs where the people there get angry at us for not playing songs they know, like Khe San... I guess we're looking for quiet, song-writer kind of venues where - even if there's only one or two people watching - they'll listen, and smash some drinks with us after.

If all of us can go, it'd be a combination of acoustic guitar, vocals, alto sax, percussion and synth/keys, with a mixture of originals and covers. I've chucked a couple of links below (giving away my real life identity :( ) of my solo music (which is a bit slower and softer than what we do as a group), but is the most similar to what we play.

Anyway, if anyone could chuck some potential venues up that I could contact with a yet-to-be-recorded promotional demo/vid, it'd be much appreciated! :D

Thanks!

I don't know any off the top of my head, but be sure to post where you're going when you set something up.

My house rocks okay when my son lashes out on his guitars, not that I understand his music.

I can always listen to my LP's

Gaslight tavern at Brompton could possibly be worth a look.
They have regular live jam and music sessions that pretty much anyone is welcome to have a jam at.

I only discovered the Promethean in mid 2011 when Neil Murray did a gig there. I don't know how much it costs but you can have about 80 people downstairs and maybe 50 upstairs. It's the old union trade hall done up. Really good acoustics.

Fixed it for you mate.

Now it is the ultimate old man post.

Here are some venues that might be good to enquire.

Enigma Bar (I believe they have acoustic shows on Thursday nights if you did a stripped down set - Craig who runs the joint is a big big Port fan)
Exeter
Worldsend
Crown & Anchor
Ed Castle

Your best bet however, would be to try and hook up with some local acts that have your sorta sound and asking if you can jump on a bill with them. Bands like Truce, Pretty Ugly, Rin & The Reckless come to mind!

Try the Ed Castle, Grace Emily, The Governor Hindmarsh, Exeter, Crown and Anchor, Jade Monkey (if it is infact reopening)
