Am I the only one who thought Swan wasn't nearly damaging enough last night?

Personally, I thought that after Rocca, H Shaw, and Burns, there wasn't a lot between the next half-dozen or so players. I haven't rewatched the match, but I didn't think that Pendles, though I was reasonably happy with his game, had an enormous impact.

Thats how West Coast do it, 2 or 3 of 'our' players can have BOG but they shut down the next half dozen, the next half dozen are the ones who link up, run on and provide options, check it out, they are smart at it and thats why they scraped in, in last years granny with Judd a lame duck for the second half. I think some teams are awake up to them, but not us, yet! The Swans definately are because they have such a consistent team across the board that it negates the tactic to a certain extent. Having said that Pies almost there, although inconsistent from week to week.

No I only gave him a 6 because he wasn't that damaging but he got enough of the ball and enough contested possesions and important clearences. Not much between Swan and O'Bree.

I thought Rocca's marking was critical for us. He gave our forwardline a real presence and was just so strong with his hands. Top performance. I thought Heater and Pendlebury were great and would probably give Heater the nod for second best. I liked Pendlebury's direction around the game and it made me think that we've got a potential leader here. For a young player to be demanding players lead to spaces (particularly senior players like Rocca) tells me he's ready to do more then just cement his place in the line up. Davis' three goals were great, but I'd put Maxwell ahead of him as I think he just had that one purple patch in the game and was average other than that.

I thought Swan was a bit disappointing too Vinnie. He looks like he's still getting back into the swing of things for my mind as he got better later in the game. I thought R Shaw looked much better this game and hope that this is a sign he's progressing to where he was at before he did his knee.

Although we lost a game we could have won, I thought we were pretty good. West Coast are renowned for their midfield and we were able to match it for 3 quarters. A very encouraging sign that we're on the right track.

I thought it was shaw and maxwell then daylight the rest.

Rocca was ok but he still covered bugger all ground and had very little of the footy. If it was not for some unbelievable kicking most would be saying he had an average game.
