Jabso
Brownlow Medallist
I am going to run the MVP again this year.
For those of you unfamiliar with it here is a quick outline of the rules:
- 5 selected voters vote every week. The same 5. It's a bit elitist but the problem with open voting is the varied amount of voters. This time we get consistancy. If you want to run your own format that's ok there is room for two awards on the board.
- The 5 voters last year were jabso, Lonie, cointoss, hoggy and murray. Now murray has been gone for a while so unless he comes back which I'm pretty sure he won't we will need one more voter. That is unless the others decide not to continue on this year. Sorry to be elitist but I'll try and find a regular poster on this board.
- THIS YEAR the voters are jabso, Coin_Toss, vinnie_vegas69, eddiesmith and hoggy.
- While last year I had some unofficial emergency voters I won't have them this year. If someone can't vote because they didn't see the game I'll find someone to fill in for them. If I can't find a voter I'll do my patented hasty crappy averaging system where I average and round up the votes.
- The voting is similar to The Age's voting. You select the top 5 Collingwood players and give them a rating out of 10. This ensures that a player who is our 5th best player in a 100 point loss gets rated accordingly compared to the 5th best player in a great team performance.
- There is no real guide as far as rating goes and it varies but 10/10 is probably a perfect dominating game so you don't want to give them out too much. 6/10 is a solid but not dazzling performance. In a good game with alot of good performers the lowest score would be 7/8. In a bad game it can go as low as 4 or so. Either way if you are a new voter and are unsure on how it goes don't worry just make sure you are consistant in your ratings.
- An example of last years voting (sorry about the format and spacing):
The elimination final which was as we know a pretty poor performance.
Round 8 vs Geelong. The 100 point thrashing.
- The votes are tallied as is. I.e. not given 5-4-3-2-1 for the top 5 players, every point counts.
- The deadline is pretty loose just try to be pretty early and obviously before the next game.
- I will post a voting thread every week and if I'm late like I was a few times last year and want to vote feel free to start the thread yourself like many people decided to do.
- Discussion and adding your own votes, despite not being an official voter is welcome and encouraged.
