Nah, don't think so. I really like Peja but he is only just a scorer. Doesn't bring a great deal to the defensive end.

IMO it will definitely be out of KG and Duncan.
 
KG has it by a landslide at the moment, with TD second. Peja has been great, but he hasn't had the influence/impact KG and Duncan have had this year. I would argue that the play of Brad Miller has been just as important to Sacramento, although I love Peja.
 
It's currently Kevin Garnett, and it was Kevin Garnett at this point last year. The MVP race is a marathon, not a sprint... and my tip is Tim Duncan once again.

Kidd, Duncan and KG are the only genuine contenders, and any of the three would be a fitting winner.
 
I would agree that he is unlikely to win MVP though IMO he should be a show for All NBA team.

Secondly he is 2nd or third in scoring at over 50% from the field and even more impressive 42% percentage from deep. Just as impressive is that he averages around 5.5 attempts from the line per game at 91% clip.

Thirdly he gets his points within an offensive structure, ie he waits until half court set has been organised and then waits his turn. Usually the ball goes into the post first and then comes out, which is a traditional way of playing basketball. He does not drive the line too often and therfore does not average too many assists. At the same time though he does not crowd the line either and his shooting skill means that the small forward gurding has to stay out on him at all time. This allows Vlade and Brad more room to operate in the post and easier baskets.

Rebounding at around 5.5 rebounds per game is not flash, however he spends most times guarding high on the wing which limits his ability to gain the rebounds in the paint. Instead he focuses on long rebounds only.

Defence is underated to say the least. Average of 1.4 steals per game is good enough for 28th best in the league. In addition to this his footwork and positioning on defence is above average and whilst he does not get a lot of blocks per game he does not get faked out either and prefers to play positional defence allowing for his athletic limitation.
 
Those ppg/shooting numbers remind me of Kiki Vandeweghe in his prime, maybe even Bird(although 5 boards a game was a bit beyond Kiki. Stick Vlades board and assist numbers next to Pejas points though and you have Bird numbers!)

I must say I did think of comparing him to Bird, however Larry is still in the league of his own. He was a better rebounder, passer and a low post player then Peja and a better clutch player. Having said that Peja is probably a better shooter then Larry and now a better defender then Larry was.
 
Of course Larry had some 'help' in that department over the yrs with guys like ML Carr, Cedric Maxwell, DJ, McHale, Gerald Henderson(remember the 84 playoffs?) and a handy old guy called Walton around him.

If the Spurs keep winning, and Duncan still fills the stat sheet, I doubt it will be much of a factor.
 
I forgot about Peja but you would think he is in with a shot. With Webber sidelined he is the leader of the Kings and not only has he lead from the front he has stepped up his game bigtime. The result of that is that the Kings still have the best record in the league. Impressive to say the least.

But it's still KG for mine.
