I have shoulder length hair, and I'm dreading the day that I start balding. Having longer hair is definitely a part of my identity, which people usually scoff at, but they just don't understand. I always hated having short hair when I was younger, and I grew it out as a teenager, and I enjoyed seeing other people feel threatened by it. The old "get a haircut" line used to make me laugh. It made it easy for me to spot the sheep - the one's that were insecure themselves and felt threatened by someone standing out, and would try to drag someone else down to make themselves feel better. It didn't work, and had the opposite effect. It's empowering and I loved being different from other people. I wouldn't feel myself and I'd feel naked without longer hair. But my Dad is in his early 60s and hasn't even started going bald yet, so maybe I'll be lucky too? Fingers crossed.

For me it's more than "just hair", but in the end for most people it is just hair, and it's a part of life. There's no real point in worrying about something that is out of your control. Plus you could always do a Walter White and become a bad ass.

Meanwhile, my next blog post is actually entirely about hair loss (albeit under different circumstances) so perhaps you should all watch out for it.

I've generally had longer hair (in late hair school and a few years after, it went halfway down my back). Now I look like I stuck my head in the Shine-O-Ball-O.

mate i spend more on blades then i ever did hair cuts lol. its ridiculous. you go through 1 blade doing ur face and head every time u shave.

That surprises me. Funny how not having something would cost more than having it. It'd be more convenient than having to take care of your hair everyday though.

My wife buys all the shampoo and conditioner, so I don't have a clue how much it costs. Yes, I use ladies shampoo. What of it?

There are differences in quality between different shampoos, but they're generally all pretty much the same. The difference between men's and women's shampoo is the fragrance basically.

I spent about $20 on clippers many moons ago, and not a cent since on my balding head. Went from No 2, to No1. Now I just use the clippers without any attachment. Low cost, low maintenance!
