My Plan to buy a PS3 is to go to Harvey Norman and simply buy it, but the best part is that they have a 20 Month interest free deal going when you spend over $500, I currently have myself about $600 in which I have saved since about the start of the year, Now I have worked out that if I buy the PS3 and a couple of games I will have to pay off about $600 over the 20 months which is only about $30 a month pretty much what I pay for my mobile each month.

HOW THAT FOR A PLAN?!?:thumbsu::D:thumbsu:

Plus the account keeping fees.
Plus the early payout fee.
Plus the opening an account fee.
Plus whatever other things HN charge you.

Interest free doesn't mean free.

No it means easier to buy something.

There wont be any fees for early payout because I will pay it out perfectly, it wont cost anything to open the account because I already have an account with them, and it isnt hard to keep the fees accounted for.

I dont have the money right now.

The PS3 is worth as much as it is going for, the way I am buying it hardly seems as if I am paying $999 for it in the first place.

NO I WONT, The only way I would pay extra is if I didn't have the PS3 paid outright by the end of 20 Months.

Yeah I read the "American" articles but we are getting the European PS3 not the American one, the PS3 for Australia has had most if not all the kinks worked out and is a fantastic system.

Plus I will be enjoying my BLU-Ray Casino Royale DVD while you can watch it on your pissy little normal DVD Player.

up to you mate. You can be quality testing for the more sane ppl who will wait for a year or two and get it at a decent price.

I remember all the happy folk who bought a first generation playstation and playstation 2 :P

Sony are notorious in the first generation for just cramming the circuits and wires in without much thought about internal design.

as of yet do we still know what the hi def standard will be.

didnt enjoy casino royale, and without all the rest of your proper equipment for hi def, will you get the full affct,? do you have hdmi inputs?

i suggest you google the cnet article on ten things i hate about the ps3.

xbox360 fans will get an addon hi def dvd player soon

as for my own gaming preferences i own a wii console and enjoy it immensely, i enjoy my movies on the big screen.

hope your ps3 is worth the 20 months interest free because like all technology while your still paying it off the price will of most likely dropped.

devaluing while you still dont own it, yes hardly normal has you for life as a customer.:p

I bought the first version of the PS2(A while after it was brought out) and I have only had one thing go wrong with it in the years that I have had it.

The other things that went wrong with it were because of my PS2 getting Mod-Chipped so many times.

The only reason I want to buy the PS3 now is because I feel that my PS2 is coming to the end of its life, it is still working fine but it just feels as though it is dying a little bit, but I have certainly gotten my fair share of game time with it.

The CNET article is an American written article, yes?
As I have said in the previous post the reason why the PS3 was delayed so long was because they needed to fix things on it, I am sure that most of the things wrong with the American version have been fixed by now.

That list isn't really of importance to me anyway, the only thing I really care about in the long run is how good the games are not how easy a browser is to read.

The Review of the PS3 that I say in the Hearald Sun's Connect section said that it all works very smoothly and runs quite well, the things on those lists according to the guide have no significance to the Australian version that has just been brought out here.

I remember my mate who bought a PS2 on launch (which iirc, was version 3 by the time it got to Australia's launch), and whose PS2 is still working fine today (even after playing many ripped games converted from dvd to cd-r, and using the manual tray opening swap method for copies for a fair while in between their first and second chip). I waited until Gran Tursimo came out to buy my PS2 (version 4 by that stage iirc). It died a few years later, so I bought a new one (not sure what version - but it was when Prince of Persia came out). The new one lasted about 6 months, and as I had a xbox too, I never bothered to get that one fixed.

http://media.www.westerncourier.com....First.Generation.Playstation.3-2467615.shtml

Owners of early PS2 models purchased from launch until spring 2002 commonly reported faulty optical drives in their consoles. The earliest drives suffered from a constantly misaligning laser lens but later defects were the result of a shift in voltage to the laser itself. The first problem was relatively easy to remedy, but it required opening the machine's casing and tweaking a cog that controlled the lens' distance from the discs it was supposed to read, thus voiding the warranty. This usually did not matter, as in most cases the warranty already had expired by the time such problems began to appear. The second fix involved the use of an oscillator. As time went on, more and more drives began breaking down and a class action lawsuit was filed against Sony. They had the option of either paying the requested fines in damages, or offering free repair and replacements at their discretion.[8] Sony chose the latter and, until February 2005, they honored their agreement. In the UK owners suffering from this flaw must pay Sony £50 (as of spring 2005) to get their machines repaired.

A second lawsuit is being filed against Sony for all of the above, plus claims that defective hardware is damaging media discs. The first hearings were set to commence in April and May, 2005.[9]

As of 2006, Sony is offering exchanges of factory-refurbished consoles for broken out-of-warranty consoles for a charge of US $45.

Another issue causing DRE's is wear on the part coupling the head assembly to the worm gear that moves the laser. This issue is mostly found in the older PS2. A symptom of this is a loud repetitive clicking sound. The part is commonly plastic and prone to wear or break. Metal replacements are available from third parties

Sony are too busy trying to cut down costs.... I hope you guys don't get caught in the rip >,>

That sony had technical issues with the PS2 in the first 2 years of its release should tell you something

Harvey Normans Devious Plan

Have a long No Interest period so that fools without a lot of money buy it thinking they'll pay it off easily. But as time goes by they'll forget, or spend money on other things then before they know it the No Interest period is up and they're screwed.

cnet was an australian website they have one over here.

as i said before good luck and enjoy, its just the 20 months interest free caper that you are fooling yourself with,

Why would you pay $1000 for a gaming console anyway?

they would now, but unfortunately for amiga it killed off the company, can any one remember the amiga cd console at around $899.

it was way ahead of its time and flopped. it did more than the ps1 could do a few yrs later at launch.

it could play vcd movies.

allow attachments for keyboard and mouse to access the internet which was only a fledgling thing at the time. 14kbps dial up

Mate I wount get jipped by it, I already have about $800 ATM and will only need to pay off about $400ish over the 20 Months, I gathered that $800 in only 3 months.

Nothing has gone wrong with mine except that there the fan died after about 2 years of me having the PS2, the other faults I have had was because of my many tinkerings in trying to get it mod-chipped.
