My Restaurant Rules

Shame Perth will be bankrupt in 6 months. They are struggling financially, having to sell merchandise to make ends meet.Staff are not happy with the low wages. When the cameras are no longer there will the paying customer to a basically pub meal restaurant.

Even though Pete was arrogant, his restaurant was stylish, and served decent food.PLus they even made a profit of 70,000 in 2 months, they gotta be doing something right.

Well done to Perth- whether they survive in the long term is the real question. I hope Melbourne get the funds to buy back thier own business because I have a feeling they will last in the long term.

I think a lot of the voting came down to Pete vs Ash. Both are personalities who dominated the couples- we hardly heard from Tayissa and Amanda! I did not think Pete was arrogant- I liked his passion.

However, I knew they would win when Curtis walked onto that private jet (pretty tacky!). The car he was driving to the plane has Victorian numberplates- obviously he would not be flying to Melbourne if he was already there. From that moment I knew Perth won. :p

Great to see Perth win.

Only a Victorian wouldn't find Peter arrogant. Actually, maybe a Sydney-sider too.

I thought peter was great, well its back to promoting the greek nightclubs in melbourne for him. Hes one top bloke.

You can find arrogance in queensland, i hated that guy, he full on loves himself, thats what you call arrogance. He is so annoying i wish someone could kick his head in.

Not watched the show, so was the premise of the show to discover the best restaurant, or discover the best person?

The public voted for who they liked. It was popular, not which restaurant was run properly or best.

It should have been 50/50 on the above criteria.

The weeks when the restaurants were judged by industry professionals to see who was best at service, food, financial viability etc Perth came stone motherless last. Ash from Perth used this to gather the underdog woe is me vote and thats how they won.

Only 2 of the restaurants acutally new how t run and work a top class ( ie not backyard) restaurant. Melbourne and Brisbane. Brisbanes couple had one as aa top quality head chef and the lady as the front office person. In Melbourne they created a classy restaurant with top class staff.

Perths problem is its not viable, they charge top dollar for a feed of pub quality, which in the long term is not sustainable. They are only keeping their heads above water with staff being paid under award wages and by selling merchandise.Once they have to deal with no merchandise as their is no show and the staff leave as they want the correct wages as they are entitled, they will fold.

So what! The vote was for the most popular restaraunt not best this or that. There is a chance they may not be viable in the future but who gives a rats t0ssb@g!

Perth won most popular so give them marketing credit and if you get an overpriced steak and fondu later then good on ya!

Just because the voting public liked the way they marketed the underdog emphases doesn't mean they should have been given the restaurant. How dumb is that.Egg on face for Channel 7 when they go belly up in 6 months.

So why shouldn't one the better run, more capable, viable restaurants not have won. Why should popularity by the masses be the criteria.Especially when the masses are sheep and believe every minute of TV they see. Cleaver to be the underdog butin the long run they will proably not have a restaurant and be financially ruined.

I feel for their staff working their butts off and not even getting award wages.Thats bad. Where is the money going then.

Because it was. You can only play and win within the rules and they played the game best.

End of story get over it.

Didn`t like Pete to start with , particularly when he attempted to sack the builders , but he grew on me , what about those bloody speeches ?!?!?! Even he started to take the **** out of himself towards the end.
Was always coming down to a popularity vote, so Melbourne were always up against it, undoubtedly the best restraunt didn`t win. Pete`s reaction to losing was also comical , it was like he had just downed downed a dozen cans one after the other, and then the whistle.....

I'm pretty sure Perth took more money than Melbourne and are in a city not exactly drowning in restaurants with any kind of "edge" (ie it used to be on TV), if you live in Perth, you'd know they have a good chance to stay in business.

Melbourne's restaurant was classy and would stand the test of time. The passion from both couples were as strong as each other, but the organisation and overall functioning of Room 19 wasn't nearly as well run or professional as that of Seven Stones.

Dumb show.Channel 7 are laughing all the way to the bank, those phone and sms lines make a fortune for both telstra and the company.

My 2 bobs worth, I wanted Brisbane to win, as I know a few people who actually ate at the restaurant and said the food and servie were fantastic. So given that Simon acutally was the cook and none of the others had any idea, I thought he should win it.

i ate at room 19 & certainly not pub food but i don't think any of us unless we went to all 5 restaurants could say whcih was the best

despite the fact the food reveiw used a melbourne reviewer that gave 7 stones an advantage becasue they knew him.

& the "well run" reveiw used the irish "this is my type of restaurant" bloke and the "i hate perth" ******** from brisvegas

unfortunaly they couldn't use finance as a critieria to get rid of one of the restaurants as perth made over $125,000 profit over 8 weeks

so even though the review were loaded in melbournes favoour

it did come down to a popularity contest based on the tv coverage

whether they are in real life or not simon & nat were portrayed as loathsome

nic & em as arrogantly stupid -to be warned about something & then to do it again

ash didn't try & play the underdog in fact he challenged that when asked

so for the final - it came down to personality & a lot of viewers obvoiusly agreed or liked what Ash said about stuff ( ie Nat & her sour grapes pencil drawing comment)

where i think melbourne lost it was they came across as bland personalities -i don't think tayissa ever spoke??

what i would like to know & i couldn;t find it on the official website & the tally of the votes each week? does anyone know?

the result summed up the type of people that Australians love.....THE BATTLERS.

Perth fitted the BATTLER TAG to a tee. NFI of running a restaurant, poorest menu, poorest ambience in the restuarant etc etc. But Ash's constant "we are the underdogs" comments and "we will give it a go" comments won him the game.

If Ash has half a brain in his head (still not convinced though), he would sell up as soon as he can and collect the cash. As the restuarant currently stands it will go from $45K takings a week to $4K takings a week in the vicinity of 12 months.

Admittedly, Perth had the worst looking restaurant but

-were given the worst premises to start.
- they were the most successful financially.
- were the most frequented restaurant.
- had the most "real" people work there.
- treated their staff better than the others.
- didn't have the best food necessarily (but the most successful restaurant in the world - McDonalds ....serves absolute crap!)
- didn't play sneaky little note passing "games" like Melbourne.
- chef Iain was a legend!
- weren't complete ar.......es like Brisbane.

As they clearly had the most people through the doors, I'm sure they also had to work the hardest. The only thing that counts in business is "bums on seats."

Sydney should have been 2nd. Catherine is gorgeous!

Congratulations Ash, Amanda, Iain and Jude and Room 19 !!
