Anyone else sit down and watch this last night?

The first series was fantastic and really that something special about it, however after watching last night's episode I just dont get the same feeling. Channel 7 was on a winner with what they had and didnt need to touch it, but it seems like they have and it didnt feel the same.

Dicko, while being a great personality, isnt the right person to host the show. While Curtis Stone might not have been the best host in the world, he was a chef and in the industry and the show was better with him in it.

Also the couples this time arent as exciting, Melbourne would be the best group by far. Last season there was something special about all the couples, and you had your token bad guys from Brisbane.

To me this season just appears to be very dull, but will still keep watching in the hope it picks up!

What about the girl that sang Mona Lisa... didn't that bloody drag on! It wasn't bloody Australian Idol, and it went for at least a minute.

Whats the deal with Perth getting $7000 when other couples were getting $15,000, $12,000 for marginally better performances at their banks. The fact all these other couples were laughing there box off whilst watching the Perth mum and son combo being patronised by these yuppie Sydneycentric knobs on the bank 'panel', tells you that once again its going to be an attempt to paint WA as the battler and hillbilly state devoid of proffesioanlisim compared to there oh so slick Eastern States counterparts.

Watched it once and thatll be it.

I watched parts of it last night.

Whats with Perth being on 2 levels, thats gotta hurt them. They said all have a level playing field. I don't think so.

I missed the Adelaide couples speil, why were they better than the others?

Of course they are going to be with him being an Exec Chef in London and here ofr years, and here being an Accountant for ATO in Small Business and working in the industry.

What did they expect? Their presentation was by far the worst. The didn't even know what sort of restaraunt they were going to open. No bank manager would have lent them money.

Looks like they got screwed.

Simple and to the point. Their idea was to use SA produce in all their meals. That idea is simple and will work whilst the two metro's from Melbourne's idea (two words) will never work. An absolute pile of w ank.

I think you will find in the short term, the novelty of the "Two Words" will be a big hit...but eventually will die off! It is a great idea I think, and its good to see people thinking outside the square for a change!

Hopefully they go with it, I reckon it will work!

And yes, Perth had by far the worst presentation, and obviously that was because their presentation skills were lacking! They just werent convincing with what they wanted to do. However having a two story restaurant will work against them. Sydney easily have the best location, right on the beach in Manly...and the idea for the paint scheme has merit!

I didn't watch Restaurant Rules last season, but I tuned in last night to check it out, mainly because Dicko is pretty good value normally.

I thought it was pretty good, I'll be watching next time for sure.

The Melbourne group appear half decent, not sure about the others yet.

And can anyone else sense another "Amity Dry" (from The Block) coming on? (i.e. a recording contract for that girl who sang Mona Lisa)...

If you ever get the chance, definitely have a look at last years series. Curtis Stone might not be as polished as Dicko, but the series was better by far...however I have only seen one episode of the new series so it might pick up!!

It won't work long term, if at all. Here's why:

1. You cannot describe a meal in two words.
2. You cannot determine someone's tastes from two words.

Will only work with arty tossers who like all types of food including anchovies. People want to go out and order from pre set menus rather than pi ss about and play wan ky games. Will work probably work short term, but that will be more because of the show and it's novelty value.

The couple from Adelaide clearly have their heads screwed on tighter than anyone else.

Cant have perth winning again.
Less money and have a look at who is representing us....no chance

Yeah im sure the Perth Mum and Son combo are great people, but (bodgy bank presentations aside) it just feels as though they have truly been put by the producers waaaaaaaay behind the eight ball this time. If people remember series one, the bank judges (Matt Moran, the *** and Darren 'Manboobs' Simpson) just hammered Ash and Amanda at every opportunity they had, and basically acted as though Perth was Leyton Orient FC going up against Man U in the fifth round of the FA Cup;...bit of a novelty,' good to have you here, but you dont really think ur actually going to win do you'?, kind of thing.
Like Derryn Hinch saying something along the lines of 'well at least Perth's got a new workers club'...when they won. Regardless of how they do or dont perform in banks, there just feels like an element of Eastern States (particularly Sydney) elitism running through this thing at every turn....

They should look further than the Pure South restaurant in Melbourne. They use only Tasmanian and Bass Straight produce for the key components of their food.

It's a great idea and it will work. Unless you've got an executive chef who has put in the years in a good kitchen, you're better off keeping things simple and doing those simple things well.

Yep. They'll crash and burn with that crappy idea.

Well I didn't watch it last year until the end and I'm planning to watch all of this one. My fave couple is the two melbourne guys and I really don't like the couple with the lady who sings :o

Adelaide ain't too spec either :(

How can anyone argue Lost isnt better than some crap second series for a reality show about resteraunts....Come on plane crashes, chicks in bikinis (coming up in future eps trust me), mysterious creatures in the darkness, twists coming out of every orifice VS Yuppies trying to start resteraunts....not exactly money or the gun type scenario in my book.

yeh its watchable but nothing above that

Dicko is finally living up to his name.

It's going to be fun watching this 'talent' crash and burn.

So what did everyone think of tonights show?

Yeah tonight's was pretty, good. We got to see how they acted under pressure, and some couldnt cope (see Sandy from Perth). The Adelaide guy, I think its John, is so full of himself it isnt funny!

Still dont think it will be as good as the first series, all the other half of the couples seemed to be doing the same thing. It seems too planned this time, rather than let the couples do it how they want, it seems they are more telling them what to do, and to the detriment of the show I think.

Matt Moran was very good tonight, a few of his comments were a little puzzling though. Like when the raw brains came back and he said to Rob "I am never eating in your Restaurant", hello...ROB WONT BE CHEF!! That is what they employ chef's for!

Hopefully will improve again next week!
