Hi all,

As a born and bred Geelong man, I have been to countless matches at Skilled, the G and Etihad. Last night was my first match at the SCG.

I just wanted to pop into this board and say what a good experience it was, despite the terrible conditions.

I found that the Sydney crowd (and the large amount of Cats supporters there) were just so good natured, despite the weather. There were light hearted jibes back and forth, but there was not the feral abuse yelling that can often happen at the football (including Skilled Stadium!!!!). the crowd made a suprising amount of noise for a 25k crowd, again despite the torrential rain, especially when Sydney got close in the second half.

I dont know what it is, whether it is that the 'bogans' in Sydney are drawn to RL, but it was a great night, and an example to my girlfriends nephews on how to act at the football.

Thanks all.

Aww, isn't that nice? Thanks for stopping by! We  the SCG.

I was there in 2005 to see us get destroyed.

The old grandstands were a breathtaking sight; horrible place to find food and drink at the time though.

Long live the smaller stadiums with character, though. I love KP ... but the SCG is wonderful in that respect.

Good on ya, guys. Great to play Geelong at our proper home ground again!

It's easy to see why the vast majority of Swans fans want all home games played at the SCG rather than lump of shit at ANZ. As has been said, the SCG has a bit of character about it and a certain charm to it. Homebush is almost sterile in comparison.

The difference in atmosphere is ridiculous.

I love the SCG. Whether it's cricket or the footy, it really is just a fantastic place to watch sport.

I'm fortunate that I've got basically some of the best seats to watch the footy. Brewongle stand, about half way up, just forward of the centre square. Awesome view.

I don't hate ANZ Stadium, but it's got nothing on the SCG. If we were guaranteed to get 60k+ to those ANZ games like we did a few years ago I'd be happy playing there, because that ground is actually really good when full. But it looks like that's not going to happen so hopefully every game is at the SCG from next year.

Love going to the SCG and the Swannies crowds have become a lot more knowledgeable over the years. I remember when I first came to Sydney 12 years back the crowd was somewhat manufactured with its supporting but that certainly isn't the case now. Great crowd to watch the footy with and never seen a ratbag element. Lots of families go as do women...remarkable number of women (and chicks) love the Swans.

As for ANZ, it's quite easy for me to get to given where I live near Central but just don't like the atmosphere and hence don't go. Hoping that in 5-10 years time with GWS, there will be a real rivalry. What I'm looking forward to however is being able to go to a game almost every week. Heart will be with the Swans though...but not as much as with the Tiges.

God Forbid Shotties be seen in a positive manner and a real valuable asset to society.
