A glimmer of hope in a somewhat bleak outlook for the next 4-6 weeks while we wait for players to return

Fremantle's Tendai Mzungu in line for AFL debut

FREMANTLE'S mature-age recruit Tendai Mzungu could make his AFL debut against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium this Saturday.

Mzungu injured his knee in the club’s final pre-season game in March and has been sidelined since, but the Dockers could be tempted to rush the versatile 25-year-old into their line-up following consecutive losses to Richmond and West Coast.

I'm not holding my breath but it's at least not bad news :)

Also this, from the same article:

Harvey said fiery forward Hayden Ballantyne (hamstring) was a strong chance to resume against Port while midfielder Rhys Palmer and ex-Adelaide ruckman Jon Griffin were also in the mix after impressive performances for East Fremantle in the WAFL on the weekend.

But Fremantle could be without defender Dylan Roberton, who was reported for striking while playing for East Perth on Saturday and faces the WAFL Tribunal tonight.

...

Harvey said Ballantyne could have played in Sunday’s Western Derby loss to the Eagles had the match been a final, but the club decided not to take a risk with one of its star players.

Pity about Roberton - here's hoping he sees the same treatment by the MRP as Kerr did lol

Kerr wasn't reported and Tigers declined to make a complaint. Had nothing to do with MRP.

Just a reminder when he plays his first game at subi.
When he kicks or gets the ball we need to all yell out Goo.

We been waitin for years to have a player like Toovey etc where we can all yell out his name an Mzungu is our man.

Tell it to everyone round u lets get it goin.

Gooooooooooooooooooo

would be suprised if tendai came straight in, he hasnt played an afl game, i would suggest he needs to get wafl form first.

as for ballas, harves is more than likely playing his weekly mind game, if he could have played on the weekend. he would of, so clearly he was hampered by his hammy.

Yeah, even with your current injury crisis I'd be surprised if they rushed him straight in for his AFL debut after two months on the sidelines.

Mzungu as sub FTW!

They did that with Ibbotson, but I'm not sure it's such a great idea. Firstly it doesn't help Mzungu get his match fitness up. Secondly, what happens if we have an injury in the first few minutes of the game? Risky move IMO.

There was another picture of the above with the flavour called "Chocolate Outrage" but I thought thats a bit inappropriate.

We already have one of these players, and i remember trying to get the memo around to everyone to start yelling

If hes playing footy this week
it will be for us as a sub.

Wont be playing WAFL
Dont agree with it but it was done with Ibbo an they see it as a good way to use sub rule.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I could understand not playing Mz if were playing Geelong or someone of that calibre or if we had next to no injuries. I hope harves rolls the dice and plays him.

If its a matter of rolling the dice then he simply does not play. If he is ready then bring him in. It is all about his confidence in the knee. There would be nothing worse than having him hobble off because our due dilligence was not done correctly.

Yep totally agree with if you .but if mzungu was ready to play WAFL ,why not roll the dice and bring him straight in. All you read about the guy is that he has freak endurance, that's good for me.

I watched him in the 3k time trials pre-season and he literally burned everybody off easily. Palmer was the closest to him and that was a long way back.

Knees break just as easily in the WAFL.

I don't think they would play a guy at high risk of injury. Look at Ballas.

Well that seals it for me then. I'm sure harves would take more conservative path of WAFL ,then AFL, but he doesn't really have that option at the moment.

Yeah, I know. It would look like we're hitting the panic button. But we're not exactly laden with talented midfielders that are racking up 30 touches a game in the WAFL.
The reality is it's either Mzungu or Schammer.
