No positive threads today so I will put my one positive foward.

Mzungu was close to being dropped, many queried his tackling strength, goal scoring or just his ability.

To me he is now a genuine 'B' grade midfielder (just behind our A graders). His tackling is a strength, goal kicking getting better, some big possession games against quality opposition.

Well done Mr Gu you are producing when others are not - well done and keep it up.

During preseason I tipped him as my smoky to finish top 5 in the Doig. Not sure if he'll get there but he's definitely stepped up this season.

Really glad to have such a hard worker in the team who can be relied upon to bob up as a link man all over the field. I bet his teammates love him.

Thought he was almost faultless today - and I reckon he must becoming one of RTB's favourites...
really knows when to spread and mostly runs to the right places to receive but best of all he smashes himself to get back and drop deep into defence when some other mids are trundling back making token arm wave gestures.

has a huge heart, great tank and his skills are about on par, just love watching him

My god people here are lazy. I reckon there's about 5 threads per player on this board. Instead of looking for the previous thread about Mzungu, we just make another one. Guess what will happen in two weeks time, people will continue to be lazy and make yet another Mzungu thread.

If you really want to get technical there's a whole sub-board dedicated to the players, not that anyone reads it.

In his pre-game intro yesterday Eddie declared it was "Richmond sitting 6th against Fremantle who are placed 15th."
True professional at the top of his game.

Midfield goals this year:
Fyfe - 9
Mzungu - 9
Mundy - 7
Pearce - 7
Barlow - 6

Our best midfield goalkicker with Fyfe and he has kicked goals in his last 4 games.

any hitting the goals, which i cant really say from the other mids

I think everyone's talking him up too much, his performance was a result of everyone else being so bad. If we lift for the next game and Mundy, Fyfe, Barlow are all back in form then I guarantee you'll all be Mzungwho?

Well its good that when everyone else is shit he has it in him to step up and play a great game, when we struggle we always have way to many passengers. He is NEVER one of them.

Watching Mzungu kick for goal in the GC game (missed 2) compared to now is like looking at two different people. His kicking style has completely changed, becoming almost Mayne like (is he getting help there?).

Gu's been kicking a lot more goals as well, he has somehow found the ability to take uncontested marks in the forward 50 after a hard run through the midfield. If opposition defenders spend all their effort trying to lock down Mayne and Walters (and Ballaz and Pav when they return) it'll leave more opportunities for Gu to continue taking set shots in the arc.

Another player who's good at this is De Boer, although not nearly as often or as accurate as Gu is becoming.

Maybe, Barlow has already thanked Mayne for helping him with his set shot routine.

Didn't help him much with that god awful shank at a really important stage on Sunday.

guys a cannonball, the only one we have on the wings unless Mayne or Bally sneak up, engine for days and a solid body = starting 22 under any Lyon team.
