With our era of dominace on the horizon would there be any "out of favour"/ "moving on" type players that could help us take the next step over the next 2 to 3 years?

Nathan Brown IMO would be a fantasic fit up forward for a year or 2.

He would bring experience to our young group and is a classy player that would cost us nothing but a spot on the list.

For the same reasons he has been dropped at the Tiges this year (hasn't missed every game due to injury) I wouldn't want him.

His workrate when he hasn't got the footy is appalling. Fisher is an example of what our MC think of this.

TBH, I'd consider Barry Hall and Robbo before Brown, but I can't see us taking any of them. I think the Youth policy is still more or less in effect, and it would take something pretty special to risk taking a 29+ yr old.

Brown was special......that was a long time ago.

Recruiting a 32 year old?? A massive, enormous No!!! Brown would set a terrible example. The guy has never ever played for the jumper. Sold out on the Bulldogs bigtime for a massive contract at the Tiges. He's the ultimate non-team player/selfish footballer. Even now when he talks about Richmond, it's like as though he's talking about an employer. He has zero passion for his Club. Still remember his effort to get Fev suspended a few years ago. The guy is a disaster. Can't kick more than 40m these days either. :)

This is one of the worst recruitment topics...

Lets pick up a 32 year old Richmond reject.

He cares more about his fashion label rather than his football.

Let's draft him!

If he were injury free, playing close to the goals I'm sure he would be more valuable to our team than Fisher, Bannister, Edwards, Hartlett etc

Why is there a thread made everytime a player seems likely to be sacked or wanting to leave their club? Yes, we'll get Brown and Robbo, damn we should have got Jeff White too. Barry Hall will be great and fingers crossed we can get Mikey O

He has potential, no doubt. But he's never been the same since his leg. Hadley is allready keeping the medical staff busy with his constant injury list, we don't another one of him.

Any of whom would consider themselves extremely lucky to be on our (or any senior) list beyond 2010.

You are talking about the Richmond N Brown right?

have you watched him this year? The bloke doesn't warrant a spot on any senior list. Lack of effort and pace will see the end of him after this round. At least then footy wont get in the way of his t-shirt company

The days of carlton picking up others' washed up players are gone. We have a very good list right now, with some young blokes ready to step it up again next season.

If the club was looking to pick up an oldie, i would prefer robertson over brown.

Wouldn't be interested in Brown or any of the other 30 something delisted players coming onto the market. We are substantially creating a premiership capable side from within.

Whats wrong with a forward line including a combination of Fev, Eddie , Jeffrey, Yazza, Waite, Kruezer, Walker, Robbo, Murph and could probably add a couple more. Really think we have a more than good enough mix of talls and smalls to work through our forward line in the next few years.

If he has a good pre season and gets to play in a good team who knows. He hasn't been the same since his broken leg, some players take years to recover from them or don't recover at all it seems.

I'm really not sure if he'd be a good pick, surely he'd make good depth, perhaps at a late pick?

We are at a stage where picking up recycled players wont hurt us unlike last time when we did it when we were on the down and needed to rebuild instead.

So I'm going to say yes pick four or later only though. Youth is still our priority but in this draft I can't see much avaliable at that late stage.

Good post :thumbsu: And agree only with a late pick.

Insanity if you ask me....if he plays in the 1's he's taking game time from a kid with a big future like a Yarran or Garlett, if he plays in the 2's he's just clogging a spot that could be taken with a potential 100 gamer from the draft.....perhaps if he had outstanding leadership qualities, but Nathan Brown has always struck me as somebody who plays the game for Nathan Brown......absolutely no point

I would honestly literally rather eat my own 'excrement' then have Carlton recruit this overrated, prima donna metrosexual tosser ...

So in case that wasn't subtle enough for you, the answer is NO.

The epitomy of a mercenary player. When Brown's manager was fishing around for the best deal he did so under instruction from his client - definitely not Carlton. **** him and let's hope his instruction reigns eternal.

Sought out a move to play finals apparently. No subtle irony how his last year panned out with his ex-club is in contention and the club he pre-rejected on the rise.

not sure if n brown is the answer but would love it if carlton was able to snatch a recycled player who goes on to kick 50 odd goals ala medhurst, motlop, mooney for next to nothing - gotta keep your options open to do this
