Alex Malcolm journo AFL report says the match winner was kicked after a free to Gov. Do these people even watch the game?
He missed the free kick shot. The winner came from a mark after a Priddis clearance.
Hope he edits his rubbish write up. The next wave of journos seem to be no better than the last lot. Gutter trash.

One thing about this weeks game compared to last week, we have no one of the Ilk of Priddis. If he goes down then there goes our season, I hope we can find someone close to his extraction abilities in the next few years but seriously Matty is the grunt of the Eagles and the beginning of most of our forays forward from stoppages.

No real defensive team structure so unless Simmo and the team has gone backwards, they clearly aren't using these NAB games as anything more than to get a run in the legs.

I only caught the last half but i barely saw duggan. I hope its just a preseason thing and this isnt the beginning of second year blues.

Geez, wonder why we recruited Redden.

Sheed? redden? Hutch?. Those guys are all capable. We proved in last years qf that we can get by if priddis does go down.

Woah out come the Priddis haters, the man is a brownlow medalist ffs give him a break.
WTF are you on about. we arent hating priddis but a hall mark of this side is adapting and we did that last year when we lost one of the most important players for us in emac and we did it again in the finals without priddis. If Jk goes down, Jd will step up and few of the smaller forward will also.

No one hated on Priddis. A bunch of people pointed out how little you know about our list though.

In assessing this game it's worth remembering Gold Coast were quite accurate in difficult conditions and we were very not.

Three takeaways from this game.

- not good to see injuries continuing to pop up. Hate that McGovern still seems to have shoulder issues, frustrated we haven't yet seen Jetta display his wears, feel bad for Brown who desperately needs a break.

- need to be very careful about messing with what worked so well in the back half last year. The defence needs to be built around Sheppard/Hurn/Wellingham. Mackenzie is a welcome addition because he's a gun and frees up Gov to roam more, but other than when we need him to push forward and singlehandedly win games, I think McGoverns best position is still a kick behind play hopefully with more freedom to zone off thanks to EMac. Beyond that they need to be extremely cautious with the rotations to avoid going too tall in defence and losing the run and carry that hammered teams last year.

-Lycett is still pretty underwhelming-McInnes and Giles are probably ahead of him in the ruck 2IC position on the preseason so far.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you compare Redden now, compared to the value of Priddis? Just out of interest?

Bit hard to answer with numbers DTF, but I'd say Priddis is really good at extracting/contested possession, whereas Redden is not as good in this area, but offers more tackling, better kicking and marking abilities.

It's like you had that response ready to go.

I love Priddis, but people's comments in here are fine.
We have great depth now of inside mids - Shuey, Redden, Yeo, Hutchings, Sheed and even Cripps, Gaff, Duggan and Le Cras help out.

Geez, hard to make out what Lycett is going to give us. Just not getting there is he?

Redden and Priddis would push for forward ability? Priddis does do some nice forward work.

Push another word for Equal.

Sorry, probably slang from my formative years!

I think Redden would be better resting forward than Priddis. More penetrating kick, better overhead, better leg speed for when the ball hits the deck.
