He's always been quick, and a good runner. Wasn't it against the dogs two years back he ran the lenght of the ground to kick an awesome goal?

Yep I don't remember exactly when that was ... I only remember jumping out of my chair and hollering. It was a fantastic moment. So great to have Ezy back.

I was pretty happy to see Karps get a good run and even though he didn't get a lot of it his workrate up and down the ground was solid .He could have been more damaging but was rarely used as a option ,I would have liked to see him get used a bit more to bring him into the game and build his confidence up .

Looks as if he will be rotating out of the midfield and up forward which will play into his strengths. Finished the season well last year, hope he keeps fighting hard for a senior spot.

Well done to Simmo for rewarding his hard work over the preseason and to give him a good taste of where he needs to get too .He won't be in anyone's Rd 1 team but can maybe start pushing up from the wafl level .

Priddis is more consistent and damaging across an entire game.

I agree that Priddis is more consistent across an entire game and there's no doubting how good he's been lately. But we look a hell of a lot better at covering his absence than we do without Nic (granted it's a very small sample size for Pridda). Nic's influence on our midfield is unmatched.

just watched the replay. Anyone see mcgoverns wing out in the final quarter looking to elbow some red and black? Very silly and lucky that didnt connect

Yep - saw that live.

Bloody silly. Crowd 'oooed' as well.

So if we include the forgotten Frenchman then who's the unlucky player? Duggan or Masten?
Either doesn't really matter as until such time as they have the class and goal kicking prowess of Le Cras, think at this stage Le Cras gets picked before either of them. Of course as Le Cras ages and his game starts to fall away, then by that time perhaps Duggan will be an out and absolute star, but he's not there yet in my opinion. I would also pick Le Cras before Cripps if it came down to a choice between the two of them. It's nice though to think that spots in the team are at a premium if the squad are all fit to play.

Both were sensational, but it's Nik Nat for me. This year, Nik Nat is set for a big one. The power and speed is back and it was awesome to see - when he took that mark, landed and powered away was just so electric. The team walks taller when Nik Nat is in that form.
So many good players yesterday, Yeo, Jack and you could go on and on, but i was impressed by Bennell too.

First time i have seen Darling spend time in the midfield and have an effect.

Yeah actually got a good couple of handballs out from the tap. Not to be too negative but he wasn't exactly up against the elite of the comp though.

Probably why they figured it was a good time to try him there a bit. More than most, he seems to be a confidence player so the coaches probably didn't want to thrust him into clearances in the season proper without some prior experience and a chance to get a feel for what can work.

Darling did look good in the midfield when running through there- It shows his fitness is getting back to his pre-injury levels, as he ran for much of the day. He's not the most nimble of guys to rotate through, but his big body and football brain make him more than useful in spurts.

One centre bounce I recall yesterday, he managed to stand up in a tackle, and handball over an opposition player to gaff. It hit gaff on his left, so he could burst away from the congestion. Was very clever, especially under pressure.

I liked his game yesterday. I don't expect him to kick 6-7 in a match, but when he gets involved up the ground it often leads to a score for us.

Good way to end the NAB - no new injuries!

Same can't be said for Brisbane, which only helps us.

No Beams or Zorko and Rockliff hasn't played a minute of pre-season.

Injuries or not we would want to account for Brisbane anyway. But I guess it helps.
More notebly Liam Shiels has fractured his hand and will be out for around 6 weeks so, will miss our round 2 game.

Think brad johnson as well. They all had a giggle at it. Sam mitchell and matt priddis are all examples of why those attributes can be overrated and both went late in the draft.
Mitchell was pick 36 Priddis was pick 31 in the Rookie draft. I'd be interested to know whether anyone else taken in the rookie draft has won a Brownlow !

Some observations after being at the game & watching the replay

NicNat looks in great nic. good to see him position wise actually be at the front of the pack more in marking contest.
Lycett was ok around the ground but was jumping way to early in the ruck contests at the centre bouncedowns
Darling After a quiet game vs Goldcoast went into beast mode to a degree, actually looked quite good playing further up the ground including some nice handballs through traffic
Yeo A bit of an eye catching performance with some great runs through the midfield,
Redden looked fairly classy when he got involved
Duggan Was fairly poor in the first half with little intensity. Think he might have a got a bit of a spray as he came out after the break and played very well
Nelson Looks to have improved further from last year. a 200 plus game player in the making.
Mckenzie looked to be getting up to speed with the game after such a long absence.
