I predict by round 5 he has sprained his pointing finger with a generous dose of Repetitive Strain Injury!
Anterior cruciate knuckle injury or hyper extension will be a danger as well images.jpg

Just re-watched the end of the last quarter and although I hate to agree with commentators (thought yesterday's were quite good) one of them talked about the impressiveness of our defender's disposal efficiency. All above 80%, and all had plenty of kicks. I have to agree with them with that being pretty impressive regardless of the opposition we played against. Still think our ability to get another crack at a GF will be a lot about stopping the ball coming in across half back and then transitioning effectively in to attack. Well that and Nic Nat and our mids dominating centre clearances a lot of the time.

Frawley gave me the shits, droning on and on, warbling and loving the sound of his own voice, obviously, as he didn't shut up.

Dunno if this has been spoken about in here but I noticed both teams doing the double switch out of the backline, wont be long and we'll be seeing the triple switch. I swear the AFL needs to introduce a rule that if you go backwards its play on in your back half to stop this boring sideways and backwards movement.
It's called evolution. Constant rule changes will stifle intellectual and creative forces at the coaching level, render players even more like robots, and make the sport less appealing for the viewer. Are you in favour of having everything in your world controlled and everything completely predictable when watching sport? How boring.

I bet you yell "kick it long" at least 10 times a game:rolleyes:

All relative though :) At least they actually talked about our players, unlike a lot of Victorian commentators who talk about the opposition's defence when we are in attack, and their attack when we are in defence.

Also, I used a new piece of hardware called Frawley-cancelling headphones. If it had a switch to select between commentators it would be a best seller.

The worst part was when Frawley tried to claim that it wasn't deliberate out of bounds. If I was looking for an example to show someone who had never seen the game before what deliberate looked like, I'd use that as my example. All in all the commentary wasn't actually too bad though I didn't think.

Anyone going to open training tomorrow? 11:10 for those who didn't know

What annoyed me about that was that Frawley didn't seem to know that the umpires have changed their stance on deliberate for this year
Can you think of any other sport where the commentators arent up to date with rule changes

I think you underestimate the amount of work Goddard puts into his pointing finger. At least 45 a day over the preseason, so it is in tip top shape to handle the rigours of a full season.
I think the AFL have put a cap on it this year so expect to see the finger in the point position for longer periods of time.

Rewatching the game - has gov actually lost some conditioning ?
Gov moved quicker than I realised he could . Even Frawley said he has a set of wheels . He has matchstick legs which belie his strength and speed and kicking power. Johnno the commentator was the same i could never believe such skinny legs could propel him so quick.

He moves ok - its just whether his endurance suffers.

He strikes me as being one missed pre-season away from turning into Lance Whitnall

Well I don't know if you have ever played footy in real life but I remember training exercises called "circle work" that exactly resemble what I saw on Sunday. I'm not paying to watch circle work when I can go down to any oval in Australia during the week and see it.

I think he's already well past Whitnall who i dont recal being a swing man at all.( if whitnall was a swing then i dont recal and my bad)
Who would you pick given the choice to have one or the other in your side?
For me its Gov by a CM.

It's about switching play to the open side of the ground, kicking back down the line back to where it came from isnt often conducive for quick entry to the forward line which is the preferred method. It's a very common strategy, always annoys when people complain about that as it happens at every level of football. Going back and forth several times may not be attractive but its necessary.

Lol he was saying gov looks like he could turn into a fat campaigner very quickly if he stopped training for a bit.

But on topic whitnall played a bit at both ends

Either doesn't really matter as until such time as they have the class and goal kicking prowess of Le Cras, think at this stage Le Cras gets picked before either of them. Of course as Le Cras ages and his game starts to fall away, then by that time perhaps Duggan will be an out and absolute star, but he's not there yet in my opinion. I would also pick Le Cras before Cripps if it came down to a choice between the two of them. It's nice though to think that spots in the team are at a premium if the squad are all fit to play.

LeCras was just forgotten.
It wasn't an argument that he shouldn't be part of the 22.
