No problems with eMac on Sunday - comment more about him being slightly below average.

Schofield on Sunday - one was in the third quarter railway side and I recall commenting a couple of times he took the wrong option and kicked to an adverse contest when there were low risk more obvious leads open. Cannot recall the exact quarter for the other. Agree that he appeared really rusty v Suns. My general feeling is that we look to have 2014 Schofield playing and not the Schofield we saw in 2015. Hope to be proven wrong with this one.
Yeah I think just cobwebs. Definitely improved a lot from NAB2 to NAB3 and confident he'll improve again in round 1. Last year he rated elite for kicking efficiency according to Champion Data btw - so he's capable. In 2014 EMac's kicking was still above average but not elite. He was elite for marks, metres gained and rebound 50s though (plus we all know he is good at defending/spoiling/intercepting). If they can both be at their best this year our back line will be amazing this year.

??? I was responding to someone talking about their kicking in NAB3. Not cherry picking, just saying the stats for both were good in NAB3 and not bad as they said in their post.

Well the original post that Asterix was replying to which you quoted was talking about our backline in general, not the weekends game, therefore it came across that you were implying that in general Emac was a good kick, hence my questioning that logic as he has been very dodgy at times with his kicking. Its probably the only knock on his game for me. Hopefully he's improved in that area as he would be a massive asset to us if he can hit targets regularly as well as stop opposition forwards marking the footy like he does.

he was shit but has been steadily improving. 2014 he was very reliable with his distribution. Rarely tried abything to complicated but kept the ball moving.

I don't have a problem with the switch when it is done quickly and effectively. But I hate seeing teams, including us, consider it as their first and only option every time we get the ball in the defensive 50. Because what happens against the better teams is they learn that you switch every time, and block it off, then you go back the other way, and get in to all sorts of strife or you end up having to bomb it long and lose possession. We have some pretty good marks and runners in our team so I wish we'd look first at the centre corridor especially if we have Gov or Darling or Yeo slotting in there, and if that's too risky then go the switch. The important thing I think is mixing it up and be willing to go coast to coast occasionally to keep the opposition guessing. I thought we had the balance pretty good on the weekend but it was against Essendon so hard to tell.
Teams like WesterrnBulldogs and Adelaide tend to move fast and not use the switch but it didn't hold up in the finals. If you retain possession you can play your way. Coff it up trying the quick cut thru the web and you suffer big time

Given we have shep and Hurn coming off the backline we have elite kicks back there not to mention good kicks in Nelson and Wellers. Even eMac and Schofield are good kicks (in that they kick to their limits), so not as essential to have him in the back half.
Scofield a good kick? He scares the life out of me whenever he actually has the ball in his hands.

Completely agree.

Emac still had a lot of marks taken against him especially in the lead (including the GC game). He'll need another 12-15 games before he's anywhere near back to his best but next year he should be better.

i still rekon schofield is an iffy kick. He can have some amazing passes to go with some horrendous kicks.

Schofield just has brain fades. Like when he runs on and straight into the opposition
He's a decent player but not a great player at this stage in his career. Perhaps he never will be, there are the rough edges like the mis-kicks but he could still be a good contributor in a premiership team.

Going into last year I was getting pretty meh on schoey but he really impressed me with his defensive actions last year. I like him more then brown now, but really he isn't a player who I like opening the game up, as others have said he creates turns over just as much as he opens up the play.

eMac and schoey are best with little dinky kicks in the back lines and letting the better kicks open the play up. Whoever said McGovern kicking is underrated is right, the way he took the game on last year was really impressive. Such a gun.

I think the thing with Schofeilds kicking is that he can be lazy with it way more than the average player. He often kicks off no steps or right after taking a backwards step. If he didn't do that he would be seen as a unanimously good kick.

Gov moved quicker than I realised he could . Even Frawley said he has a set of wheels . He has matchstick legs which belie his strength and speed and kicking power. Johnno the commentator was the same i could never believe such skinny legs could propel him so quick.
Its the Jetta effect the skinnier the legs the faster you are.

1 captain votes shuey to take charlie home. Im assuming pridda said it but would be surprised if an opposition captain said it.

think you mean hurn. Anyway I was under impression you couldn't vote for your own club? Hence why hawks for example had only 17 votes to make finals. Not sure tho.

I checked, none of them picked Priddis in 2014 when he won and he got one vote the following year. You'd think AFL captains might know something based on previous form but apparently not.

yeah i meant hurn ahah. yeah thought that too. Maybe it was mundy who gave shuey the vote as i doubt the interstate captains would have that much knowledge on shuey.
