This new format of the NAB Cup is not working. Every game so far has been boring as AFL can get for me.

I have not been able to sit through one full game yet without doing something else.

Not one game in rnd 1 has had any excitement at all.

I know NAB has always been shit but this year has made it go even further back. didn't think that was possible

I say just scrap the NAB cup and have just plan exhibition matches.
Not even worth showing on tv anymore as no one cares.

means nothing, gives no insight into any team because no team really gives 100%.

Lets let the poll decide.

I thought it worked OK last year, TBH..
This year it's anoying because you can only see it if yyou have PayTV.

Anyway Rnd 1 is almost over, now we get proper full-length matches from Friday! Still can't watch 'em though ;)

2 x friendly matches, and extend the season by 2/3 games.

I think 2 exhibition matches per club, maybe 3. There's no need to have a 'cup' there is nothing to play for.

I don't think we need to extend the home and away season.

This is the best format they have had so far. By a mile.

Not sure if having no preseason matches is an injury risk, but if not I'd prefer them get straight into in and have a 24 round season. If it's an injury risk, i like the format but not 4 weeks of it. 2 weeks tops.

Something a bit out there for you to think about.

What about, in the first week, 9 matches are played and whoever loses by the 2 biggest margins, are instantly eliminated?

Then we're left to 16 teams in week 2.

Like the Australian Open, we'd have 16 seeds (1-16, 2-15, 3-14, 4-13 etc etc etc) based on ladder positions at the end of the home and away season e.g. Collingwood as the first seed, Port Adelaide as the 16th seed.

Then we get to the elimination stage.

Sounds very complicated I know.

The format doesnt matter, the games are not that interesting because the results do not matter.

I watched Geelong thoroughly to see our kids but I did not care when we lost, I watched other matches solely for dreamteam/supercoach reasons and also did not care who won or lost. I cant see how changing the format will alter anything.

2 practice matches for each club.

Call them practice matches, no cup or incentive or anything. Let's face it no one cares who wins the NAB cup anyway.

Since they are practice matches, no one is dissapointed about what clubs do. They can play their best 22 or worst 22 and it doesn't take away from it.

Play the games with normal format, although maybe 4x20min quarters with no time on is enough.

Get rid of 9 pointers, last touch out of bounds and other rubbish rules. Only trial the occasional rule that might be implemented.
