So with another lucky escape by the Bombers last night, we now know who we'll have to defeat to make our first pre-season final since 2003.

The Bombers and Lions played a very defensive game last night as they are obviously coming to terms with the rolling zone. It will be an interesting match to see how our older, and more match hardend heads, take on the youth of the bombers.

My thoughts:
Presti to take Lloyd to the cleaners and keep him goalless again.
Harry O to keep Lucas quiet again.
N.Brown or L.Brown to be used as a decoy on Felcher.
Cloke to roam the CHF and teach Ryder a lesson.
Clark to quell the influence of Lovett.
Daisy to go one on one with Monfries.
Josh to show Hille again he's a much better roaming ruck.
Medders to come back and give Knights a real headache.
Russling to get his first (and hopefully not his last ) game for the year.
Sidebottom to debut for the Black&White.

In all seriousness we have a much more talented team and after last nights viewing i think we are "ALMOST" a walk up start for this years pre-season cup.

Your thoughts...........................

In the current Essendon side, there are only 2 players that worry us, and thats Mcveigh (who looks unlikely to play) and Hille, who has the edge in Fraser.

Apart from that, Llyod and Lucas are just going through the motions pre season, so it should end up being a failry easy win.

They will try and play a very defensive game against us, because if the game becomes open, it could be a whitewash.

Would love to see Dick, Sidebottom, Dawes and Rusling in, although with Medhurst almost a certainty, I dont think all of these will get in.

I'd rather Chris Bryan then Wood against Hille, but it wont matter too much, so at this stage I'd prefer Wood for the future.

Should be a win, and then we can look forward to playing Cats/Hawks/Blues in the grand final.

Sounds like everybody is over confident,,
Can never be too sure in these Nab games, i'd say it will be a good contest. Us by under 25

Also to the op who said brisbane and essendon played defensive games.
Unfortunately thursday night all we did for the first three quarters was flood. On countless occasions we would have run off the rebound and nobody inside 50 to kick it to. Dayne Beams' blank kick is a good example of that.

Also still kicking around the boundaries.
Hopefully we can get a more attacking game plan happening once Medders and/or Rusling can get a game.

Now that we are a getting closer to the final, Does Malthouse coach?

Interesting thoughts here.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. I think we play the venue (Telstra Dome) better than you guys and usually lift for Collingwood.

True you slighlty have a better record at T.D 58% winning record compared to us 54%
I know we have never played each other at this venue in a home & away game, not to sure if we have ever played each other at this venue at a preseason game before.
Pies should win!

i'd like to feel confident, but we must remind ourselves that it is only a pre-season game. anything could happen.

they did beat us quite comprehensively later in the season last year.

but if we use our skills and play our natural game, it should be a comfortable win..

essendon r a very dangerous team running through the midfield with lovett but we r also very dangerous aswell , it looks like mcveigh is gunna miss out on the match so thats already a big win for us.

I usualy don't like to overstate our chances in any match but our form to date has been good, not excellent, as you would expect at this time of the year, but i still think our teams experience Vs Essendons lack of experience accross the ground and with the injury to McVain we should have the cattle to get accross the line quite comfortably. Still it should be a good game.

We were very good last week against Richmond and played the ground as good as we play the 'G. But Essendon play at Telstra Dome more than we do, so it's no coincendence that you should play there better.

fletcher is out so IMO rest L.brown and bring DAWES back!

Apparently he kicked 5 in the magoo's last week and with Russling out for another week or more and Ant a least 3 weeks away it could be a option. I hope Dawes gets a gig.
Dawes and medhurst will likely come in

Rusling is playing reserves and Rocca wont play anything to round 1

Don't think you guys have to worry to much, Knights doesn't seem to serious about it, just wants the Bombers to take risks and play on at all costs, tight zoning will rape us, Mehurst and Cloke always rape us. Hurley is looking good to play too! Cannot wait to see Sidebottom, we were so keen on the kid too!
