would a normal employee be suspended from work due to being on a charge of assault?

if they were a high profile representative, then yes they would.

for example, Kevin Rudd would be forced to resign in identical circumstances - though of course, he'd know to smack his bitch up behind closed doors.

I am joking btw!!!!!!! :p

gosh, really?

I bet those CEO's would never have a problem if they got into the same situation :p
Did I do something to deserve that onslaught of sarcasm?

Those CEO's are payin for their time with women so usually they just pay the $5,000 fine for abuse directly to the lass ;)

You don't get charged for pouring beer over a girls head. I saw a guy (who was flirting with other girls) push & hold his GF up (she took issue with him) against a bar & get charged for it once. Wouldn't be surprised if the same thing occured here....

For those that are interested Bock will be on tonight's 5AA sports show. Should be interesting to hear what he has to say and might clear up a few things.

You have hit the nail on the head. I also personally know quite a few players and many of them cheat on their wives and girlfriends and hit and abuse their partners. One even constantly throws his wife (who had his daughter) out of their own home and is extremely jealous and controlling of everything she does. However, there are some who should be used as role models but many are aplorable and think they are gods in their own right.
mate you've got it in one. Anyone that thinks footballers should be role models to their kids needs a serious lesson in parenting. They are generally some of the worst behaved biggest piss heads who treat women like shit coz they can and who root around flat out and spend enormous amounts of time with other blokes at exactly the same level as them which magnifies it massively. And i say that having had some really good mates being those people. Not to say they are all like that of course. But they are the worst "group" you could put up to be a role model.

And if you can't explain to your kids that it's fine to love Johnny superstar from the crows or Collingwood or whoever but love them for their football ability and nothing else then you should re-evaluate if you are fit to be a parent. Aspire to play like them not be like them. Problem is, 3/4 of the parents love the player blindly and pass it on and then when they get caught being naughty they have no way of explaining it coz all their kids have heard for years is how unreservedly incredible so and so is.

Major mistake, they are average blokes with pumped up egos who can kick a ball and grab it better than most and that's it.
