3rd rounder would get it done imo

Sucks to see him go, but he will be an excellent pick up for you guys

We've got 24 and 36

36 is actually Brisbane's 2nd round pick. Which is probably a little overs but we could just pay it to get Broad in.

Alternatively, maybe would consider packaging 24+36 (points equivalent of pick 12) for Broad + an earlier pick ie. 2021 Richmond first round. (?pick 18)
Points deficit is the equivalent of a pick in the mid 40's
Things don't really work that way but one can hope!

So you're suggesting Pick 18 & Nathan Broad for Picks 24 & 36?

That sounds like a horrible trade from a Richmond perspective.

Yeah I know.
Was why I was suggesting that one can dream (from a GC perspective)

Points wise (I know its not how it works) It values Broad as a mid 40's pick

A more likely scenario would be

Nathan Broad & Pick 53 for Pick 36.

Values broad at Pick 51 (for points) and would be significantly more appealing from a Richmond perspective.

It's already clear that Richmond will take Maurice Rioli Jnr. with it's 'last' pick of the 2020 draft & I can't see Richmond taking more than 3 picks into the draft. So splitting Pick 17/18 into two doesn't really benefit the club where they are placed list wise.

Fair enough, I wasn't sure what would be preferable for Richmond.

Pick 53 does nothing for us.
Wouldn't take a player.

We've got Davies, Jeffries, Lake as possible academy picks that we don't need to use a pick for.
I guess that's why I think we'll trade out 24 and 36 for some future pick / as part of a player

If you wouldn't use Pick 53 if it became your third pick in the draft (which it would be in that scenario), then you wouldn't need to use Pick 36 if it's your third pick in the draft.

Might as well hand over Pick 36 for Nathan Broad then. Wouldn't make a difference to your draft plans and isn't that far off what you currently value him at.

Yeah don't think we're using 36 as it stands. We've got so many signed up already.
Well we'd be negligent to not try and get something else out of it if it is slight overs for him though.

Even if it is 36 for Broad and next year Richmond 3rd.

FWIW I have been happy with Ellis' output this year. Has just tied up a wing and been a good player for us.

I was going ask how he was going on the suns board but never got round to it.

Do you think Ellis will be best 22 next season?

Surely one of the highly rated kids pushes him out?

On broad; hard/tough as. Fastish. Good 1v1 big or small. Would be very handy IMHO

Yes best 22. You'd hope so 2 years into a 5 year contract..
He's been pretty good. Certainly better than I expected.
I think he'll finish in our top 10 B+F honestly.
We've got serious deficiencies on the spread - it's his strength - has worked well for us.

Yeah will easily be best 22 for us next year on a wing.

Anderson has been switched into the middle more but can also play on the wing.

Powell has moved to the backline and has been great back there since moving.

Sharp is probably still a year or 2 away from playing consistent high level footy.

Weller rotates from the Wing to the middle when needed. Ellis will be keeping his spot until the likes of Sharp and others can develop.

I'm still scratching my head as to why he's all of a sudden on the outer. Nothing flashy but does his job every week and is rarely beaten. Can play on all types. Under rated IMO.

Would be a very good pickup for Suns. Pick 36 seems pretty fair for a 2 (3?) time premiership player that is a lock for their 22 and only 27 years old with plenty of footy left.

Flags don't add value to individuals trade value.

Premiership player Jordan Roughead was traded at 27 years old for Pick 75 to the Pies. Now an important member of the Pies back 6.

I think Pick 36 for Broad is serious best case scenario. More likely a pick in the 50s

Dimma said Broad is out purely because others are in better form. Nothing that Broad is doing wrong. Astbury, Balta and Grimes take the talls. Rebound from the others. Broad is just the next cab of the rank. Sucks really. But if a player of his quality is next in line then we're batting very deep in defence.

Only reason one would share private photos of another person with da bois.
What other reason would there be? He's either insecure or has zero EQ.

A 24-year-old with two years experience on an AFL list and only 3 months before was a complete unknown (he had only played 2 games before July '17).

He took a celebratory photo with a girl he was casually seeing that was shared with a small group of friends, that unfortunately got spread much wider than Broad or the girl intended. Remember the girl in the photo never wanted Broad charged for distribution of the photo, just wanted the help of the police to prevent the spread after the whole saga blew up.

Sounds like the actions of a few people who were unfamiliar with the lifestyle of a 'known' AFL player, especially one of a premiership player. There would be dozens of photos similar to the one Broad shared that would be circulating groups chats every week amongst people in their 20's in Australia. I'm not saying that his actions were acceptable, just saying that they are more common than the older generation would assume.

But have you considered the possibility after winning a premiership broads deep seeded insecurities rose the the surface

Mate Roughead was a restricted free agent who told the club he wanted out. No other club wanted him enough to even sign him during the free agency window, hence the token pick for a trade. Dogs had to accept a late pick or he would've walked for nothing anyway and become a delisted free agent.

Nothing alike.

edit: great pickup for pies though
