just wondering what pplz opinions are of what brownys got to say about the following years if he cant get tha money he wants from the doggies(even thou he knows we r havin financial troubles)

WHAT A SEXY PHOTO IN THE HERALD SUN THIS MORNING!

But apart from that, if he leaves for more money then he can go screw himself. If he's not loyal enough to the club that's his problem really.

And Jordy would be promoted to my number one.

But I'd say the club would be pretty determined to keep him.

i should hope his loyal tooo
from what i know browny told his mum that he wants to stay and he was shattered that they hadnt already been to him with an offer/a new contract!! hrrrrmmm interesting hehehe

Lets say we cant afford to pay all the big 4 up for contract what they can demand elsewhere. Thats not exactly a big stretch of the imagination, is it?

That would entail swapping one of the big 4 (darce, brown, guido, murph) for a first round pick (at the least).

For my bet I would trade brown. Id loose Brown instead of Murph any day of the week. Brown offers the best combination of salary-cap relief and type of player we can most afford to loose (outside midfielder / small forward).

the other choices are:

darce: quality tall, we need 'em, enough said
guido: similar to brown, but may develop into a more rounded player, and wouldnt offer as much salary cap relief....close 2nd.
Murph: will be a dead set all out gun and a half. We must keep him.

Totally agree Stefoid.
Robert Murphy will be a superstar. I have no doubt about that.
I would also pick him ahead of Browny anyday.
Trade Brown and give the other uncontracted guys a salary increase.
If he has seriously asked for and expects to earn 500K then the club should be planning and secretly negotiating a blockbuster trade.

gudio a big 4 player, no way his got to pop his head before he is one, its all gone to his head, his up himself big time

I couldn't be bothered posting this on the main board but from this mornings Sun
"The Dogs haven't approached Pana (Brown's manager) but when they do, they'll need a contract in the vicinity of $500,000 a year"

These are the reporters words, not Brown's.

Brown did say he wants to stay but if other clubs offer more money the Dogs will have to come to the party.

Scray and Stefoid.

I can tell you are male. Not many males like Browny, they think he is a pretty boy.

He's bloody fantastic and you are showing why you are not the people in charge of trading players. I think they know he is bloody fantastic, and if so many other clubs want him he must be pretty good.

We need pretty good players.

mmm interesting to hear that he is complaining that the club havent put forward a deal....considering that he is the one who said he won't be doing any negotiaions until the end of the year.

My dad also keeps telling me that hes heard he brown has already signed with collingwood

If one of the the four mentioned has to leave, would have to say Guido. Think he's the most replaceable, though if cost comes into it then Brown has to be looked at. Still can we afford to have a 60goal forward leave .. don't think so - do all we can to keep him.

Lets say we have $1 mil to spread across those four. Lets say Darce and Brown can command $450K each elsewhere, and Guido $200K, and Murph $350K.

Who would you let go?

stefoid
ok so that's what they can command elsewhere - what will they stay here for - surely some of them will stay for less.

Mind you the numbers you give seem to only leave the option of getting rid of Darcy or Brown.. can't keep both with those figures - so your making the choice down to 2.

...... and I think you're getting the AFL and Australian Fashion Week mixed up. They couldn't be more different.

Any male that goed for the Dogs and doesn't like Browny is on drugs. He is a superstar and has already been a great player for the club

Exactly, he is the one that said he wouldnt talk about it with the club until the end of the year.
He is kidding himself if he wants 500k, if he really wants to stay at the doggies, then he will take whatever the club can afford.
By the way he has been playing lately, it doesnt look like he wants to play for the club anymore and its not only him. .

I think it's a bit of a stretch to say it looks like he doesn't want to play for the club anymore.

He had a poor game last week and looked a bit down on confidence and interest (which he has done on occasions in previous years too), but that doesn't mean he wants to leave.

I don't think he's worth 500K at this stage - if he has a great year, then maybe. He could be a superstar, but I don't think he has the performances to claim that yet. He's one of our best players, but he hasn't established himself as top 10 in the League - which you would need to be to be guaranteed of 500K now. Too many clubs have got burnt now over paying players.

Or maybe I'm just trying to convince myself that his market value is not out of our reach?

Within reason. A slight discount to market rate but not a significant one. There's a point at which players have to look after themselves. If we offered 350 and someone else offered 525, then I wouldn't blame him for taking 525. 425 vs 475 and a premiership prospect, then he's got serious thinking to do too. These aren't easy decisions for players.

Late last year he made the amount of his pay cut public: If the figure he listed was accurate, $500K wouldn't be much more than what we were to pay him before the pay cuts this year ($465K).

who cares what nathan brown does, we will all find out at the end of the season what he will do and u can start wingeing about him then, at the moment he playing footy with the bulldogs. so he is a bulldog until the end of the season

I do.

We'll be a far better side with him in it than not in it.

But we have to be realistic - we won't be able to match every offer he gets.
