Re the comments from Buckley - the only way I can see benefit for us in making them is:
A) as a warning shot at Camp Freeman to shut up about us in terms of blaming our fitness staff etc (cos them talking about it might harm us in eyes of players we're after), and/or
B) to preemptively strike in terms of perceptions of who is blame to ensure potential recruits aren't spooked.

Maybe something specific has come up to make them want to go aggressive of the perceptions issue. Otherwise, not sure why Bucks has done this.

If it's just out of irritation at Freeman and tje situation, that's silly. Not the end of the world but not helpful either.
At the end of the day we're not going to get shit for Freeman. Im all for making him look like a unprofessional peasant. At the same time put the clamps on people thinking our practices aren't up to standards**.

** dependent on whether the standards are of a professional nature or up to Freeman's dad.

it's natural to feel betrayed, I just think some people have been excessive in their abuse of a kid who is looking after his future.
It has been told before. Of course Connors is giving it a good spin. Everyone does. And without even blinking an eye lid whether it was true or not.
But to go back to your original point. Ball & Goddard had been good servants, Freeman has shown nothing. Nothing to deserve our sympathy or goodwill. We got players like Marsh and DeGoey who signed without hesitation and could demand a lot more coin than Freeman.
So emotions will run a bit higher, a few excesses maybe meh. If he blows his hammies, we should all feel vindicated that he made the right choice in life by taking the EASY way out.

Seriously I have to ask, What is Bucks up to? After the recruiters have probably figured out a reasonable deal for Freeman he throws a spanner in the works - so now we're back to square one and probably offering pick 59 or 77 for a player with injuries & "problems" who can't get on the park.

I think he's just disappointed with the outcome, & the reasons given for it. If the individual doesn't acknowledge there's any problem, then they're not going to do anything to fix it (not hammys obviously)

Hindsight is a beautiful thing I wanted Shaz and Bonts with our first 2 picks that draft :/
Would have been nice, but the bont was gone, and we have the Berg.
All os well.
We should get Treloar, and what will be will be

There's a lot of sense in this post. The kid could be seriously concerned that his body isn't going to allow him to make a career out of AFL footy, but taking a 3 year contract with St Kilda worth more than 750k at least ensures he has set himself up pretty well financially for the next part of his life if it doesn't work out. The Saints would be well aware that he has serious injury concerns but from our perspective we've got cash to burn for the next few years and if his hammies don't hold up then we can move on and use the money on someone else in a few years when we're challenging. If he gets his body right then we've snared a gun mid cheaply. No one likes a young player walking out on your club but I think the battering Freeman is getting from Collingwood is over the top.

I disagree, he has been looked after at Collingwood as well as any footballer could have asked for. We also don't buy the better opportunities part of his departure especially given he has not given himself a chance to compare what he brings to the table against other players on our list.
He deserves the roast he is getting because he does not deserve the additional money he has pushed us for and after not playing a senior game he has moved on. StKilda supporters would be ripping into him the shoe was on the other foot.

How do you know for fact he has? Im not saying he hasn't but it has been said more than once he hasn't been happy.

Maybe Freeman will be happier playing at a lower exposure club like the Saints.

Saints players have been exposing themselves impressively over the past years.

GO AWAY DUDE.........Freeman has not been happy because his body has not recovered adequately for him to be able to play football. At the end of the day when someone does not understand why they are getting the injuries they are getting and their career appears to be passing them by, then its very easy to be unhappy and possibly blame people who are doing there best to get him right.

I haven't seen anything from Freeman suggesting that is the case DUDE.

I would say Freeman was not happy because he was expected to work harder than he wanted to at Collingwood. Now that he is on the move to the Saints he will be able to take it a bit easier and catch up for more beers with his mates on the Peninsula whilst pocketing a handy wage. Happy days.

Dude, where's my car? Freeman drove it home from the pub last night and he can't remember where he left it.

Yes, sounds legit.

You have has an interest in him for about 5 minutes, we have been actively following his progress from the day he was drafted.

And was there an issue with him before he announced he wanted out?
