I like this guy.

IMO he is the future of Australian cricket along with Watson, Marsh, Clarke, White and Tait.

He will probably end up as a bowling all-rounder at test level. He is very competent with the bat. Hits the ball cleanly and has a generally good technique.

Anyway, he looks the goods and I would like to see him tried in the VB Series this summer ahead of Hogg.

from yesterday's game:

Hauritz joined Seccombe at the crease for a face-saving unbeaten 71-run stand, which included 44 runs off the last 3.2 overs.

In an action-pack final ten overs Seccombe hit an unbeaten 50, which included four dropped catches off debutante Allan Wise, while Hauritz pulled his hamstring while taking off for a quick run.

But it did not hamper the 22-year-old off spinner who hit 39 off 34 balls with the aid of a runner, in an innings which included two sixes.

Hauritz, who was part of the victorious Australian 2003 World Cup squad, will be out for at least the next couple of weeks.

No way in the world should Hauritz be given a game for Australia in the foreseeable future (esp in the extended format). This bloke is THE most over rated cricketer in the country.

His best bowling figures in 1st class cricket are 4-119. May be worth having another look at him in 2 seasons to see if he's shown any improvement. He's not a wicket taker and the only thing going for him at the moment is that he's reasonably economical.

He is a bit of a prospect but nothign great....might play a few games for the aussies here and there but really lacks true out and out talent, cam white is a better choice.

agree there, cam white would have to be ahead of him now i would think, but he's victorian so he's got that against him seeing trevor hohns and AB will be picking the sides... but he's younger, more competent with the bat and his bowling has been just as good if not better...

If he played in more spin-friendly pitches, it would help. Needs to get out that Queensland sunshine and go to another state, either Victoria or South Australia. Hell, maybe NSW.... ;)

Wouldn't get a game for Victoria unless Cam White was in the green and gold...
