It would be great to go and see all of our young players together in the one team but I don't think it will happen. It would cost a lot of money to fly reserves teams across the country every week, plus the lists would have to increase to 55-60 players.
In many ways the wafl is dying anyway. Most of the people at wafl games seem to be over 40 and grew up with the wafl being the only competition of interest to west Aussies. I can't see those that have grown up with two Perth based afl clubs ever embracing the wafl. Most of the people who chip in and help out at wafl clubs are former players who are 60+ with spare time on their hands.
Ideally if they are going to do it they should have the reserves team playing at Fremantle Oval every second weekend while the senior side is interstate, giving supporters the opportunity to see a game of live footy every week. But they would probably schedule both teams to be away at the same time, that way they are only sending one lot of coaches, doctors, physiotherapists, runners etc.
It would be great to be able to go to Fremantle Oval to watch this side every second week.

Simply the AFL attempting to compensate for the Vics refusal to commit genuine efforts at scouting talent in the WAFL and SANFL.
They can have their own magoos comp if they want, leave the WAFL alone!

It's all about Victoria. They are having huge problems trying to align the AFL sides with the VFL. Many of the VFL sides are being compromised for the sake of their aligned AFL teams. Victorian kids are not getting to play VFL because of returning AFL players and that is having a negative impact on the host team.
Imagine doing all the work, playing all the games, then missing out on finals because some AFL player in your position gets dropped for poor form.
That's what it is about.
The AFL have done nothing to support the second tier football outside of Victoria.

Total and utter garbage.Half the Vic clubs can't support themselves now,how are they going to go flying another group around the country.
Victorian fantasy.Maybe trying to diminish the hold of the outer Vic clubs,those who hold the ailing Vic clubs up.
Must be a scandal coming up and the AFL want to mask it somehow.

Sailor,But doesn't that happen here in the WAFL?and in the SANFL.whats the difference.Vic clubs are struggling let them sink if they can't survive in the real world.Fitzroy went out because they could not survive financially,let other clubs go the same way.Who cares if it is Carlton Melbourne or any other,they can not be baled out every year.One day The AFL will appoint some one with balls, who will say to those Vic clubs, who sponge off the financial clubs,either survive on your own or get out(yeah I would like to see that).But that is what must happen.It's all about Victoria. I guess the difference Anchor Man is that if the dockers drop a player there is a 1 in 9 chance of a particular wafl club being affected, because we have players at all 9 wafl clubs. The Victorian AFL clubs are all alligned with a VFL club, so lets say Richmond play a couple shockers in a row and decide to make wholesale changes their vfl club will have 4 or 5 players to try to slot in that week.

Also the Dockers and Eagles have certain clubs they send their players back t
nly those who played originally go back to clubs they come from.
Example Sampi played originally with South and goes back there.But would not under normal circustances go there.

Works both ways though.
If a Vic AFL club drops 5 players to their VFL club...then they will have to replace them with players from the same club, unless someone is coming back from injury.
If the Dockers drop someone to Claremont, and bring up someone from South Fremantle...then it's actually the WAFL clubs who have to worry about dropping WAFL players to accommodate extra AFL players.
