Hopefully it fixes the glitchy MT gameplay that i've been noticing the last couple of days.

Hard to know what to make of this. I've heard/read conflicting reports ranging from it's near unplayable to it's the best game in the series to date. Might wait for a decent sale and bite the bullet. The demo was enjoyable enough.

If you aren't willing to pay for VC, and you are playing for MyCareer, I wouldn't bother. Only reason I've survived is via multiple VC glitches.

Everything else is great.

It's definitely playable. I'm enjoying it so far.

But if you aren't dying to play it then maybe wait for a sale.

Ill be getting stuck into it tonight.
What are some + & -'s

I don't play MyCareer mode so I'm not having to grind VC at a slow rate to progress in the game which seems to be the biggest complaint from people. Because of this I'm probably getting more enjoyment out of the game then other people who refuse to use real money to buy virtual currency.

I did start a MC just to check it out and lasted about 4-5 games into my NBA career before becoming over it completely. The unskippable cut scenes due to the product placement/advertisements they have going on really does my head in, in addition to having to grind it out opposed to people who are willing to feed 2K's greed of spending much more then $60US on the base game. Of all the game modes, MC playing in the NBA seems to be the easiest as you can dominate on a challenging difficulty as a scrub 64 overall for example.

I'm not opposed to playing pro-am or mypark, but I think getting stuck with shitters who just want to shoot and don't defend etc would probably having me abort my enthusiasm for it pretty quickly. Some people in this thread on the last couple of pages have experienced this and it should serve as a cautionary tale.

My 2k experience usually has me starting with MyTeam before moving on to MyGM. I usually try to collect as many cards as possible and complete all the challenges against AI as I can and I get way more enjoyment out of playing the auction house than any man should. There is a lot of offline content this year to grind which is great, including 3 domination challenges (which is personally my favourite thing to do in game and is my choice to learn the mechanics of the new game before going into more advanced stuff) and each team has a 30 game schedule you can beat but it is kind of unrewarding at later stages and should probably only be played to complete goals to unlock those rewards IMO.

The problem with this mode being in Australia is the long wait times to play some of the challenges against other players therefore never really being able to complete your collection with reward cards from playing in the Pack&Playoffs and Super Max modes. I can't confirm if the same is true of PS4 and XBOX versions but this is certainly the case on PC. If you have the option of getting the game on PC or console definitely get it on console.

My biggest personal issue with the game isn't the pay to advance model like most, but the lag playing online. I don't know where the servers are located but they certainly feel as though they're light years away. I hate that when I do finally get a game that it can sometimes be flawless and become unplayable or is just flat out lagged as **** from the start. My internet connection is... okay, but when I play online in this game it makes me feel like my ISP is based in rural Rwanda. Again I don't know if this is a PC only thing or if people are having the same issue on console

MyGM has been beefed up a bit from what I can tell but now there is a story and it takes so long to get through the dialogue which is a negative in my opinion. I think if you were playing every game it wouldn't be so bad but I sim a lot so it is incredibly annoying. It's a shit story too. I like that you can do a fantasy draft using historic players and stuff, that's fun to do to mix things up.

I have no experience with MyLeague but may start playing it as an alternative to MyGM if the cut scenes become too much for me to handle.

To sum up.

Cons:
When it comes to creating your player, you can have fun without spending extra money, but if you don't like to grind so much you will be forced to pay to be on an even footing against others.
The story is lame and the cut scenes are both unskippable and infuriating particularly the second time around (MyCareer and MyGM) .
There is a good chance you will have lag issues online.
Completing collections in MyTeam may be challenging without having to pay for VC to buy packs unless you're prepared to grind Domination and learn to take advantage of the auction house. (which you totally should).

Pros:
The game play is excellent. You will easily get 100+ hours out of the base game if you play multiple modes.
The game looks great.
There is a ton of content both against AI and other players.
You can avoid having to pay to win if you git good enough and/or have time enough to grind.
The concept of the neighbourhood is pretty cool.

Oh please it's easy to level up without buying VC.
Level up to what? 70? It takes 190k to level up to 85. You aren't going near that unless you are playing a serious amount per day. Not to mention that people trying for a realistic career (HOF, 12 minute quarters) earn about 3 VC per minute played.

I think you'd find this has been a fairly common complaint amongst casual players. If you are looking for an in-and-out MyCareer from this game that you can enjoy, it isn't there.

But please, explain how my mention of the inherent grind and bullshit of MyCareer is unnecessary in my quasi-review.

Domination is boring the shit out of me. They either should make it shorter quarters or up the difficulty so I have incentive to get more MT. Or make the rewards cards better.

Only upto the Hawks.

I was blowing out most teams by 40+ at the start even with shit on my roster but then it became more challenging near the end of regular domination.

Im going through the Historic Domination mode now and am about 10 games in. The first 5 or so I was winning by 40+ but it has been closer in the last few.

Just gotta get through the easy boring ones and cash in on the packs you get to build up your squad while you can so you're better prepared for the tougher challenges you will face.

I will say this, the boring easier games at least gave me a feel for which players I can use effectively in my system, who to defend with, which players have shots I like etc so in hindsight it was nice to have the easy shit games.

I'm 73 overall and nearly maxed out ball handling, 3 point shooting, mid range shooting and layups as high as they can and I'm still able to play well.

You just need to improve relevant skills.

I bought the $29.99 VC which got me up to 75 and got me enough minutes to be able to earn VC myself. I’m up to 79 now and am only halfway through the season. I’m only new to the game too so you lot would earn more VC per game than I am so you’d upgrade quicker.

The most annoying part of MyCareer is all the pre and post game shit in the locker room that you can’t skip through.

In GM mode the story is annoying at first coz you can’t skip those scenes either, once you’re past the 2nd season there’s barely any scenes other than reminders that the trade period is about to end so you can get through the season much quicker after that.

not if you cant afford to spend 8hrs a day playin video games like yourself.
Don't need to spend 8 hours playing video games, just need to not be shit.

It's easy to get over 1K VC from one MyCareer game.

I also highly doubt you're employed.

Lol these guys are so dumb on Pack and Playoffs.

They pick 4 guards and a PF who are all rated pretty well while i use a bronze, gold and three emerald and I win always because I pick by postion and kill them in the post.

Can someone please tell me what features of MyGM are missing in MyLeague?

I feel like I may try the latter as those cut scenes and stories are not necessarily for me.
