Career highlights and awards

"With the 11th pick in the NBA Eras Draft '1963-1974', the DK Alphabets select...

Wesley Unseld, from the Baltimore/Capital/Washington Bullets."

tumblr_lw7lax01fI1qgwh0lo1_500.jpg

The only player in the history of the 'A to win ROY and MVP in the same season, Unseld used pure strength and determination to out-play his opponents. Although his stats may not look impressive, he was a leading force along with fellow Alphabet Elvin Hayes in the mid-70's for the Bullets. Known for his rebounding, Unseld wasn't particularly tall (he was only 6'7"), however he was an underrated passer and also a solid pick-setter. A good back-up centre for the Alphabets.

krayfesh up.

I was planning on grabbing Wes in the next era. Consumate team mate, would have fit in nicely.

Luckily, my guy is still on the board. I need a defensive forward to partner KAJ, and this guy is one of the best.

He made the All-Defense team every year until he retired. Too bad he only had 6 years to earn his spot.

He was also one of the best shooting forwards of the time, nailing three pointers when they were only worth two.

He won rings and shut down the best.

Dave Debusschere.

I'm really glad to pick him up here.

Chad Ford: We all know who this is going to be, eh, Marc?

Marc Stein: Absolutely. Alphabets GM Texas is crazy about Magic Johnson.

Chad Ford: Considering he's the best available, and the fact that Texas is a Lakers fan, it's no use really waiting for this pick, I suppose.

Marc Stein: Here comes Stern onto the stage right now Chad.

"With the 1st pick in the NBA Eras Draft '1975-1982', the DK Alphabets select...

Larry Bird, from the Boston Celtics."

Bird1.jpg

Wait wut?!

That's right, I'm taking Bird ahead of Magic. Why, I hear you ask? Well, for one, I need an outside shooter, and you don't get many that are better than this guy. Second, I feel that Magic is a similar player to The Big O, and what's the use of having two similar guards on the same team? You need a balance.

Now to describe Bird. Well, to start off, he was a 3-time NBA Champion. That's a good thing. He was Finals MVP in two of those championships. He also won the League MVP 3 times, all in consecutive seasons. Adding on to this, he was a 12-time All-Star, 9-time All-NBA First Team and ROY in a year that Magic Johnson was also a rookie. What Bird was that Magic wasn't, however, was a 3-time All-Defensive team player - Johnson didn't even sniff such an honour.

His style? Well, he was a beast of an outside shooter. He was also a flashy passer - one of the most underrated parts of his game. His sheer determination and persistence couldn't be beaten. He rebounded well for a guy of his build as well. And he was a good stealer of the ball too, shown by his All-Defensive titles. Literally the ultimate player. Plus, you can't go past his mo.

Gif time!

Magic Johnson

I was going to be stoked with either Magic or Bird, but given my current team, Magic is probably the best fit.

By the way, for anyone who hasn't seen this, watch it ASAP

Two picks, wonderful. I was dying for Zeke to drop, nbaman1 has been good at taking players I want.

I've gone for a couple of Celtics here, as a rule they usually fit my team ideals.

The best post player ever? Probably. The guy was unstoppable in the post and could shoot the ball well to boot.

6x All-Defense, 7x All Star, 3 rings.

Also, he can coach my team should the need arise.

Kevin Mchale

Next up, I'll continue my run of defense and get one of the greatest defensive guards ever. Played with the Sonics and Celtics.

3 rings, 9 All Defense, 5 All Stars, '79 Finals MVP.

Super durable, and Larry Legend called him the greatest player he ever played with.

Dennis Johnson

My team is running that defensive lockdown.

SG: Elgin Baylor
