Used to love playing it down at the local bowling alley when I was younger. A new version of the game will be out in America later this year.
Some feature of the new game will be

All 29 current NBA teams with over 300 players, plus all current and many famous old arenas
Legends mode -- face off against over 60 of the NBA's greatest players from the past 50 years
On-fire returns -- no fouls, no rules, three-on-three arcade action
Signature moves for current NBA all-stars and legendary players
Numerous game modes including Exhibition, Jam, Legends Tournament, and Mini-Games
All-new Create-A-Player allows you to build your own court warrior
Plenty of stylized in-game color commentary
Unlock players, arenas, bonus footage and more
Planned October 2003 release

And some early screen shots.

Looks good! I'm always more interested in screen shots from actual gameplay though. Sometimes the intros and replays are rather flash, but the gameplay graphics a bit lacking.

Ahh the memories.

I remember years ago, when the first NBA Jam came out on the SNES. The worst pair by far in the game were San Antonio. Me and my mate, being no older than 10, kept chanting 'San Antonio are no good, chop them up for firewood'. I'd buy a SNES to be able to play NBA Jam TE again. One of my favourite ever games.

Off topic, but can anybody remember the SNES game 'World League Basketball?' Was not bad for its time, made in about '92 or '93 I think. Heaps of teams. Classics such as the Brussels Chocolateers. Ironically, one of the Aussie teams was the Sydney Kangaroos.

Go download an arcade emulator like MAME and you can have it on your pc now. Heaps of other games you can get too!!

Hopefully this game will rock. All they really have to do is upgrade the graphics as the original gameplay was awesome. NBA Jam would probably be the most played arcade game in my history....followed by Mortal Kombat and Tekken 3.

Not sure it would be something I would buy though...NBA2K3 for my realism fix is the buying option. But for a lot of laughs then NBA Jam is certainly worth a hire or 2, or 3 or 10.

You wont find a PAL version for at least another 2 or 3 months, maybe longer. I imported NBA2K3 from the States and chipped my XBox.

The game freaking rocks!!

Not yet....Burn.com still hasnt come through. After waiting 2 months I just decided to email a friend in the states, they bought it for me and sent it, I sent them money. Arrived in a week and a half  Should have done that in the first place.

How can you go past Stockton and Malone.

The fact that both of them are still playing is a bit freaky!!!
