They need to make dynasty mode harder.

Decided to sim a dynasty just to focus on trading and training and the like.. ran a fantasy draft, selected a bunch of good 1st-4th year players and went away.

Made the playoffs every year.
Won a championship in the 3rd year.
After the.. 6th season I think, I've won about 8/10 championships and counting.

Its far too easy to retain players by giving them what they want, there's no competition for free agents because everyone is over the cap, so you may aswell just keep signing players for what they want.

Every now and then I trade an aging superstar for 2 lesser star 5-7 year players, which become better stars, hence 2 for 1. Hence team becomes better and better.

I don't know how it can be done, but it should be tougher than this. Trading should take into account superstar status, age etc to try and make it more difficult and a bit more realistic. (doesn't matter trading a 99 ranked Yao when you get a 76 and 72 rated youngsters and already have an 83 rated backup C.)

I guess I'm partly to blame for abusing the system, and have in effect made it too easy by my own actions. But I shouldnt be able to do this anyways.

Anyone else had similar experiences in a simmed dynasty mode?

I'm doing a lakers and bobcats dynastys atm. In my third season with the bobcats and have scalped Ben Wallace and Latrell Sprewell as well as a few other 71 rated players, on a 21 game winning streak(I've simmed and interevened a few of them) 25-4 record. I simmed the first few seasons and built the club up with the cap space. I had to be patient, knew the team I had in the first season wouldn't win with its roster, second season signed Scottie Pippen and a few other then he retired and now I'm a threat this year at 25-4 getting big ben and LS. I usually stick to the Mavs or Lakers but wanted a challenge so who else but the cats.

Hmm... it's still a fun game though, right? :)

I'm in the second year of my Memphis dynasty (see previous posts). I'm playing on All-Star I think, and I'm 42-10. I haven't made too many changes really, other than acquiring Okafor and Childress.

I really enjoy the game, though - best basketball game ever!

It s**** me that the cpu can nail 3 pointers 95% of the time when the game is close in the late stages...i've had three in the space of two games. Top game though.

Could you adjust the CPU "sliders" to fix that?

I must say, when I jumped up to "All-Star" difficulty level, I noticed the computer opponent started to make a heap of 3-ball's...

But I live with it because I love the game. :D

I'm now 44-10 in my Memphis Dynasty - only a few games left before the playoffs!

Memphis Grizzlies Dynasty update:

Well, season 2 over! We're World Champs again after sweeping our way through the play-offs and NBA Finals with relative ease. In fact, we had more trouble last season on "Starter" than I did this season on "All-Star" (difficulty setting). Strange.

In the off-season, we let go of Jake Tsakalidis and Antonio Burks (to free agency), and signed Haslem (from Miami).

We picked up a rookie PG in the draft, who is not outstanding but possibly will have a future with us.

The big move happened in the off-season trade period.

We traded Stro Swift with Shane Battier to Cleveland for LeBron James and Pavlovic.

We knew Okafor could step into the PF role for us, whilst James is a younger and quicker (and better) model of Battier - so no loss there. I knew it was going to make us better.

Our team rating went from 92 last season, to 98 for our first match of the season against Minnesota. Our starting line-up is Gasol, Okafor, Posey, James and Williams - we blew them out by 40 points, understandably.

And that's where I'm at right now! :)

The question is - should I advance to "Superstar" difficulty setting? I think I'll have to, otherwise my enthusiasm for the game might be going downhill (if it's too easy!)...

good to see your not worried about keeping the game realistic

And the trade that sent Webber to the 76'ers was even for both teams, too - right?

That's pretty harsh though. I tried several times last season (my second dynasty season) to trade for LBJ, to no avail. Mind you, all were legitimate trades. None of this Mike Miller for LBJ, Boozer, McInnes and Tractor Trailer stuff or anything.

Regarding the trade I made - I think I got the better end of it, without doubt. But I can see why the Cavs would have gone for it, receiving two of my starting 5 players - including an All-Star (Swift) who averaged almost 30ppg last season for me (perhaps more than double what LBJ averaged in a CPU controlled team).

So, although the trade may not have been accepted in real life, for the purpose of the game this trade was pretty realistic as far as what each team gave up and received in return. Plus, the ratings of Swift and Battier exceeded that of James and Pavlovic.

All in all, not as unrealistic as you'd think. :)

Why can't I find Shaun Livingston for the Clippers on the game?
I've never looked for him personally, but I think I've seen someone else ask that about the game at some stage, but I never found out where he is or whether he's even in the game...

Check over at nbalive.org on their forums, there might be a thread.

Its cause he signed his contract after the game's roster were finalised.

Love that starting 5, that'd be a lot of fun! :D

I'm currently in the third season of my Memphis Dynasty - I'm 10-0 having won championships in my first two seasons (on Starter and then All-Star difficulty).

I'm still using "All-Star", but I think I should advance to "Superstar" to make it more difficult - my team is rated 98 out of 100, with a starting 5 of Gasol, Okafor, Posey, Lebron and Jay Williams. :)

I can't wait to find out what Nba Live 2006 has to offer by way of improvements in features and gameplay etc..

I use 8 minute quarters.

I hope ea will eliminate the comeback code for 06. There is no point in building up a solid lead for 3 quarters only to know that the cpu will comeback because it's programmed that way.

8 minute quarters here, too.

I've made it so that final scores are pretty equal to actual NBA scores, although outside of the games I play, the CPU statistics don't represent "real" statistics (i.e. outside of my team, the leading scorer in the league averaging around 15ppg)..

Well, I bit the bullet last night - and finally advanced to "Superstar" difficulty level - after going 11-0 on "All-Star" so far this season. I felt I just had to go to the hardest difficulty level otherwise this season would basically mean nothing if I won it all again on an easier difficulty setting.

And quite surprisingly, I beat the Bulls by about 10 points in my first game on the harder setting - a performance I was quite happy with - as the Bulls are rated mid-90's (we're 97).

And Gasol got a triple-double, a great performance all night!

I was thinking, NBA Live 2006 should definetely have some kind of advancement with regard to player fatigue. It would be a great idea if you could keep taps on a players "durability/strength" over the course of a season.

That is, if you play your superstar for the majority of minutes in a game, there should be a burn-out factor so that over the course of the year, if they don't get significant rests on the bench, they tire more easily in games later in the season and playoffs.

On the other hand, in games that are clear victories, you may decide to rest your superstar for a quarter or two, to conserve their "burn-out" levels to give them full strength when the playoffs roll around. This would also give you incentive to play rookie's and your second run players.

Just a thought.

Just had a ripper game. So i finished the season like 18-10.
Playoffs im down 3-2 vs pheonix in the third round. So If i loose this im stuffed.
20seconds to go im down by 4. Get the ball to bibby. Hits the three
Down by 1 with approx 15 seconds. Foul nash. Hits both.
Call time out approx 9 seconds left. Get it to bibby for the three!!! Rattles in the basket but eventually sinks. Then play tight D on nash and cant get a shot off. Overtime. Then killed them in overtime series tied at 3-3
