Easily the best NBA simulation in NBA history back soon for another edition.

Im still playing and thoroughly enjoying my 2K8 franchise.

Only minor details to iron out this year.

-It is still possible to guard Iverson with Shaq when on the perimeter. This should not happen, there has to be a greater differential in speed.

-It can be quite hard to get by someone on the dribble. The lane usually seems fairly crowded.

-make the Association mode a lot deeper.

What changes do you want?

Here is the trailer. Lots of dunks. Doesnt reveal much about the gameplay

Cannot ****ing wait. I'm still playing NBA2K8 alot so i hope 2K9 will just keep improving the association mode etc...

Online needs massive improvements from 2K8. My only real gripe with 2K8. I couldn't get any online game going at all.

If they fix online i will be cheering hardcore.

What I want now for a basketball sim, is the ability to start a franchise in 1980, and then to have every season's draft class available at the end of the year.

Would give a great 'what-if' sense to the franchise.

i.e. What if Houston pulled the trigger on the Sampson for pick 2 with Portland in 1985, putting Hakeem and Jordan together for 15 years?

What if Orlando had of kept pick 1 in 1993, pairing the best ever high post passing PF in Webber with the most dominant low post presence ever in Shaq?

Plus you'd be drafting in REAL players

When a game does this, I can officially die a happy man.

Whilst I can see merit in the idea of righting the mistakes made by former recruiting staffs, I reckon it would be far to easy to manipulate and you would have an unbeatable side very quickly knowing the best players to pick from every draft.

Nostalgia aside, half the fun of drafting in NBA 2k series has been the unpredictability of the players chosen.

Draft blunders make it more realistic, I had pick 3 in a draft one year who turned out to be a star while pick 1 wound up as free agent (who didnt get signed) just two years later.

Your idea would pretty much eliminate scouting as well and thats half the fun of the franchise mode.

It has merit though, just maybe not as a Franchise mode option.

No, it wouldn't ruin it at all. You'd still have to develop the players and injuries would come into it etc.

You could turn Derrick Coleman or Sam Bowie into an MVP
You could keep Richard Dumas off cocaine
You could keep Sprewell from opening his fat mouth

Likewise...

Jordan could end up being nothing more than an energy player off the bench
Hakeem could become injury prone

etc etc

It would come down to how much development you put in. Just like in the current games.

Haha good call. That guy could've been a superstar and was a fav. of mine back in the day.

Can't wait for 2k9. I only converted to 2k last year (bit slow on the uptake) and vow never to spend any money on another NBA Live incarnation. Live is great if you want pretty graphics and a monster dunk on every possession.

I'm buying a PS3 just for this game. Still occasionally bust out 2k7 on the Xbox, but very, very excited about this.

Really? Was there many developments from the draft from 2k7 to 2k8?
I found in 2k8 it was pretty easy to pick which players would be good, and very rarely was there someone out of the top 10 who became pretty good. Of course there were players who didn't have potential and zero trade value but where still worth picking up anyway.

I'd like to see the occasional player taken out of the top 15 or even 2nd round become a gun every three or four years.

Oh, and mad idea about the assosciation mode that begins in 1980 ... that'd be awesome.

NBA 2K9 (beta) Bulls vs Thunder 1st quarter

Whoever is playing as the Thunder there is really, really bad. Gameplay looks awesome though.

It looks great! Nothing revolutionary over 08 but looks solid nonetheless!

Just announced yesterday that NBA 2k9 is going to be released on the PC this year under an Xbox 360 port (not quite sure what that means but I'm guessing it'll havet he same features as the 360 game)

That's great news for me seeing as I don't own a next gen console yet.

It's going to get released about 2 weeks after the console releases, which are coming out on the 7th October

Oh my God Im so happy it's finally going to be released on Windows!

Very smart, given the fact Live screwed PC users by not releasing 09 on Windows

Hopefully it's a good port but at least it's a starting point!

7th of October? Sheesh I thought it was being released towards the end October! That's like 1 week away!
