Who would like to see co-captains in 2009?

I have never been a fan, but given our current leadership vaccuum, I think sharing the workload is sensible, as you don't want one player burdened with the responsbility of captaining a (poor) side.

I reckon it wouldn't be a bad thing if we announced Jared Rivers and Brock McLean as co-captains for 2009. Still a long way to go and things can change, but we should probably appoint a younger captain to take us into a new era. Rivers will be about 24 years old with about 80 odd games under his belt, and McLean will be 23 years with about 80 games too. Both have been around in good teams (2004-2006) and shit teams (2007-2008), so they have experienced both sides of the coin.

It's an interesting one. Will they give it to an older fella in a sort of short-term caretaker role (Bruce/Green/Junior - who would be my choice if they go down that path btw) or a youngster who may be our leader for the best part of a decade (Mclean the obvious stand-out/Jones/maybe Rivers?)

I would only be happy with Junior or Mclean, they are the type of players that can inspire confidence from their peers, not fairweather players who drift in and out of games and appear to not give 100%

On a slightly different note, is Rivers captaincy material? I really love the bloke but is he talkative in the group, gives the boys a rev-up etc etc?
